Bernie didn't even call the came last night. Nice try.

Oh, and for the record. Just because I'm calling you out for being a Grade A *****, doesn't mean I'm a Coach Parker Loving Pink Hat Wearing Fanboy, K.

BU Hockey: Broken

Oh sorry you thought those quotes were meant to be true, haha. Just keep burying your head in the sand fanboy.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Bobby Bowden was a great coach, and was responsible for FSU being a football powerhouse. However, when it came time the school told him to call it a career, and managed to do so in a dignified way. If that can happen down there, the same thing can happen here. It could be simply that these guys run out of energy eventually (York being an obvious exception).

I think the Bowden family would disagree. He didn't want to go, anymore than Joe Paterno wants to go now (but may finally be pushed out because the Jerry Sandusky child-sex scandal happened on his watch).

Bowden was 80. Paterno is in his mid-80s.
Parker is in his mid-60s. Quite a bit of difference there.

Jerry York has overcome cancer, and is, I believe, a little older than Parker, himself a year off of major heart surgery. But basically the same age, but with very different personalities.

It would have been a convenient time for Parker to retire for health reasons in the summer of 2010, if he didn't think he was up to anymore. Obviously, what he thinks, and what others might think, may not be the same thing.

For what it is worth, Parker himself looks a lot healthier this season. His team, not so much right now.

I read this in a Red Wings blog, but it sounds a bit familiar, doesn't it?

"Bad breaks and of course, as we all wear tinfoil around here, bad calls in addition to bad pinches, a dud of a power play and the kinds of fundamental mistakes that are as simple to correct as they are predictable for the Wings to make"

Obviously not the direct subject of this conversation, but in my mind there was something more than just it happening "on his watch". He reported it to his employer, and when nothing was done he let it go. Some might say he did what was required of him, but I say he treated something that should have been considered of upmost importance as something that did not concern him or something he "did all he could do" for. He is being pushed out because he let something atrocious happen and carry on - completely different than Bowden.

Thoughts on this Friday? Which Terrior team will we be seeing? The one that took down Denver, or the one that lost to Holy Cross and Lowell?

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Everyone...Take a deep breath...and relax. OK?

The good news is the team is loaded with talent and has only three losses.

The bad news is that same team doesn't show up and play hard and has only three wins.

We seem to think coaching is the issue. It may very well be.

Whatever Jack is saying isn't right...or whatever he's saying they're not listening to.

Let's see what this weekend brings and go from there. If BU can't get up for two top 10 teams then maybe all is lost.

It does appear as though the team has quit.

I know we're all wondering about Quinn, but wasn't here there for plenty of sub par seasons as well? Maybe he got out while his stock was high?

The 08-09 team was loaded with pros and a terrific captain. Come to think of it...weren't the teams of the 90s also?

Maybe Jack could only recruit all along? Who knows?

I'm sure of one thing. The longer the team performs like this the more somebody has got wonder if it's time for a change.

I'd love to see this team take 4 points this weekend and see the mood here Monday.

I'd also love to see Mike Sullivan brought in as an assistant right NOW!

Was your first line tongue in cheek? ;)

A couple of lawyers might say he did what was required of him...but I agree with you, there is no way he did what was right. This is a guy who knew young boys were being abused, knew it would likely continue, knew the guy still had access to young boys, allowed the guy to retire and take a different role and looked the other way instead of standing up for what was right in terms of punishment. And Joe Pa has made quite the living off of his holier than thou image. Total hypocrisy.

Something that sinister could never happen in any other organization in the world.

Nicely said... J.D., Jofa, Nick and Stevie don't like that line of posting so close to home.....

Did Bernie really not call the game? I didn't listen and it's tough to gauge sarcasm at times.

I can't recall him missing too many games.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

What are you talking about?

it would appear to be a not so thinly veiled shot at the catholic church. and probably an inference to say that BC was involved in the whole mess.

i am not catholic, so i could care less. what the church did was an absolute travesty. but i'm not sure what is more funny, the desperate attempt to paint all BC fans as catholic or the ignorant attempt to paint every BU fan as not.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

Guys...there IS a nationally televised game between two old rivals this Sunday? Any thoughts there????

Does BU get steamrolled or "get up" for the BC game?

Do BC fans "fear" playing BU anymore? Why or why not?

Think BU will be silly enough to look ahead to Sunday or will they be ready for Merrimack?

Something resembling anything would be good.

(I think we all agree that hurting children is bad. Nobody should do it, and if they do they should be punished.)

Also noted that www.bcrejects.com is back up, albeit a new webpage. Nothing I can do about that. Funny though.

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

I can see BU showing up for one game and getting blown out in the other one. They have the talent to compete with anyone in the division, even BC in one game. Their problem is sustained effort, and asking them to give 100% two games in a row might be a bit much for these guys....

Re: BU 2011-2012 Season: The bar is low, boys!

I don't "fear" playing anyone, let alone BU the last few years. If anything, it's other teams fearing BC.

Be that as it may, I still respect the talent BU has. If you look at all the numbers, the only thing BU leads BC in is more PIMs per game and more shorthanded goals (they've certainly plenty of opportunities)...I think two came on one kill against DU. While it's entirely possible BU can win, there is really nothing you guys can point to and say here's why (at the moment).

in my younger days it wasnt so much fearing playing BU but more the fear of being disappointed again and that happened A LOT. Why not that same thing anymore? the answer is obvious, no need to................that being said, there is no game(s) that brings the same anticipation and excitement level than the BU-BC game, not even close. I hate these sunday games as i love the NFL and usually depending on the opponent, give my sunday tickets away but not this sunday
