Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Cookie79. I'll present the key parts of previous posts in chronological order for your clarity.....

You see, people that read the whole post get it, and don't spout off before checking out the reference first. In College they call that research. In the real world they call that paying attention. In Hockey they call that respect.

IMHO your problem is that you take everything too literrally and draw your conclusion without understanding the complete message, or the background of a reference made. Your rash responses to some postings are an indication of this.

Either way, I'll stand up for the integrity of Trillium. We both have daughters already in college playing hockey, with more to come. We both have connections with some of the players at Brown. We both have been involved for many years at the minor hockey level as volunteers.

I have never met you or your daughter, so wish you both well, but your constant and repeated sniping and calling out of the coaching staff after every weekend, is to put it mildly getting very tiresome. You fail to understand that your constant undermining is actually hurting the recruitment of new talent to the school.

I wish the Brown team, INCLUDING THE COACHES, all the best for the rest of the season. May the bounces go their way next weekend.

Nice job...very thorough...

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

One Executive for our firm once said after being internally asked if leadership required change:
- "Be careful what you wish for, New Blood may mean yours is longer required."

I think this bears repeating.

And I will add most reputable coaches will clean house when coming into a troubled program. And word will get back as to who is causing the turmoil, as there are no real secrets in the hockey world. Many coaches will sacrifice talent on the ice, for harmony in the locker room and front office without blinking an eye.

I wish you well when your daughters come home crying because they were cut from the new coach's team. And I hope you have the decency to admit to your culpability.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

It's good to see that there's finally able to be some conversation regarding this topic rather than just the posters getting bashed for having a different opinion. During the latest 2 games, the girls were showing the weight of this season's decline in their play. I was hoping they'd pull out Saturday's game in the overtime just for the morale boost it would give them, but it was not to be. I hope this was a learning season for all of them, but mostly for Brown's administration and coaches who seemed to think that these girls in hockey uniforms aren't real people. They trashed a bunch of good players and the season's dismal ending in the standings is pure kismet; a reflection of the coaches inability to match the athletic performances of all the other teams in the league. They (Digit and Coady) didn't know when they had it so good.

Reading your posts makes me think of a trip long ago to Clarkson with a team that my son was playing on. Erik Cole, from our hometown, was playing for Clarkson at the time and arranged for the coach to give the kids, parents too, a tour of the hockey facilities. In terms of recruiting, he talked about how coaches recruit not just players, but families as well and spoke of one player that they really, really wanted to recruit but, unfortunately, the father was a major league *****hole. As he said, the last thing he needed was parents, who most likely had never achieved any athletic success in their own lives, hanging over the glass and telling him how to coach. The kid went to Ohio State and the coach said that wasn't far enough. Your daughter may be a great kid but just like the former Clarkson coach, if I were aware of your constant backseat driving, sniping, whining, etc., etc., that you have exhibited on this forum (Ontario too, right?), your daughter would have a big black line through her name for no fault of her own.

If this is the case, then one could say that the current players have a better chance of playing all four years than they do playing for the current coaching staff.

I was told along time ago that coaches don't just scout/recruit the players but the parents as well.

Is there a ...no...in the house?

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Wow - this thread is like "Groundhog Day" - it keeps repeating itself after almost every loss. These parents just can't be aware of how harmful that this kind of negativity is to a program. I'm more in tune to the men's program so i'm not aware of all the issues....but I have daughters who play and I can tell you i'd be very suspect of having them consider Brown (if they turn out to be smart/talented enough) in this type of atmosphere.

I can only imagine what parents who don't have as strong a connection to Brown must be thinking when Digit and Coady are pursuing their daughters.

Well what do you know, it is Ground Hog day as of an hour and a half ago (ET)
I'm pretty sure that those that come on here to air the laundry, are not current players or their parents, but those that may have left or been asked to leave. Either way, the discussion seems to be on a permanent loop, it just keeps coming around.

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Its all good. Im ready or a new coach too. shake things up a little bit. keep things interesting. Could be other things plaguing brown that we just don't know about. In the end, teams are up, teams are down.

A timely term.

We can term this thread the "Ground Hog" energizer bunny. Keeps coming back out of the hole time and time again.

And did a freshman appear from the locker room to the apex of the mound of Brown to see her shadow? ;)

I hope not!!! Wouldn't that mean six more weeks of losses?

Well, actually there are only six league games remaining - If they won all of their 6 games and Yale lost all 6 they would lose head to head to Yale even if Dartmouth and Colgate lost all their games too.

ECAC Standings
Team ECAC Record Points Possible points(6 games remaining)
Clarkson 13-2-1 27 --39
Cornell 9-2-5 23 --35
Harvard 9-5-2 20 --32
Princeton 8-4-4 20 --32
Rensselaer 8-4-4 20 --32
St. Lawrence 8-5-3 19--31
Quinnipiac 7-4-5 19 --31
Yale 7-8-1 15 --27
Colgate 4-8-4 12 --24
Dartmouth 5-10-1 11 --23
-----eliminated from finishing above 8--
Brown 0-13-3 3 --15
Union 1-14-1 3 --15

Of course Brown could be a big time spoiler for home ice and rankings - so they still may have some influence in the standings

Do you really think I didn't get it? hahahahahahahahahha

Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.

Lets look at some of the recent positives:
- a good recruiting class coming in
- a lot of the younger players getting ice time.
.... Those two facts should bode well for the future.

[/I]

Well, since so many kids quit or get cut they're always a young team, that's not really a positive.
