Re: Brown - Oops! They did it again.
I’m not sure how the transition from personal matters to things “so horrible” being done just occurred. No one at any point, in any thread has described actions that remotely match whatever image you have created in your head.
Ignorance is bliss. Pretending to be ignorant is just naïve.
Excuse me. I have repeated over and over, I HAVE NO RELATIONSHIP TO BROWN OR DIGIT, so yes indeed I am not in the know about the accusations YOU MADE about Digit discussing "personal matters" of former players in front of the team. I'm not here to praise Digit (or Brown for that matter), but take exception when anonymous insiders throw the coach under the bus, or anyone makes a serious personal charge without citing the incident.
Most people would take your accusation as slinging mud at a coach. I asked for a bit of clarification as to the nature of the issue. Pardon my ignorance (although I'm not blissful about having to defend myself against the insinuation that I am naiive). I don't subscribe to a newspaper from the region. Remember, I'm not from around here.
There are times, believe it or not, it is right to discuss the "personal matters" of an ex-player in front of the team. If the "personal matter" becomes "public" and affects the team members or the university or even the coach personally, it is the coach's duty to spell out how that "personal matter" resulted (or didn't result if that is the case) in the ex-players circumstance with regards to the team or the university.
This happens all of the time. In discussing the goaltending situation at a prospective school for my daughter with the coach, he openly talked to us about a former goalie's "personal matter" that became "public" with the team through the actions of the goalie, resulting in her not being on the roster. It was necessary for our understanding of his recruiting situation. He did not take particular satisfaction in discussing the matter. However, it was very insightful into how he expects his players to conduct themselves and communicate with the team and coaches on matters that could affect the team.
So what I'm asking here (sorry Dontyelldad, it looks like this one isn't going to die quietly) is that you tell us of the what kind of inappropriate team discussion involving "personal matters" did Digit conduct. Your language indicates that it was unnecessary. Tell us why it was unnecessary or stop making groundless, accusations.
