Would have to see the Cornell roster for that game to know if it would qualify as a miracle or a likely occurrence.

Yes I posted that not knowing that Cornelll will apparently be missing many of their key players. Depending on who and how many, I agree that most D1 teams could pull the upset.

Cornell is planning on dressing 2 forwards,a defenseman and possibly a goalie (if one is available) that weekend. :-/

The following players were on the U22 team in August...Jenner, Johnston, White, Campbell, Karpenko, Fortino, Campbell, Rougeau and Mazotta...That is a big chunk out of that team. My guess is that all will miss in early January, unless someone declines the invite.

The chances for Brown and Yale to win in January just dropped many notches. Jenner and Johnston look to be available for the Big Red.

Dec 3-4 preview.

Preview of this weekends games.

http://www.brownbears.com/sports/w-hockey/2010-11/releases/20101202hky503

This weekend closes off the 2010 portion of the season with a couple of road games against Quinnipiac and Princeton.

Last weekend the Bears lost two close games, each by one goal to Providence and North Eastern. Bit of hard luck in both games. PC scored with less than a minute to go to win 3-2 in an exciting match with plenty of JWHL participants in the stands. Against North Eastern in Boston, a late Brown equalizer was waved off by the ref.

Good news is that stellar goaltending is giving Brown a chance to win in pretty much every game. Sooner or later that is going to translate into real W's. Lets hope for one this weekend.

Go Bears.

Re: Bears run unbeaten string to four games

Re: Bears run unbeaten string to four games

A bit of a dissappointing outcome in yesterday's game, specially considering that Brown played a better game Saturday compared to Friday. The SLU Saints have some dangerous snipers, and after Brown took a lead early in the second, SLU struck for three quick goals in a short span, two of them on the PP, to break the Brown Bears back. The Brown Bears never quit and kept on battling for the whole third period, eventually getting rewarded for a second goal.

While the outcome on the scoreboard was not the desired result, the play during the game itself showed the promising future for this team. The players never quit and play with a lot of enthousiasm and spirit. The Bears are looking better and better with every game they play. As with any young team, there are sometimes some lapses. That can be contributed to the growing pains of a young team on the rise.

Long story short, the future looks bright.

Report from yesterday's game:

Yes, the girls have always been tremendous on the ice. Unfortunately, the coaching staff had been it's weakest link. With an effective leadership, their bright future could've been now.

Re: Take this one to the bank

You heard it here first folks - Brown to upset #1 Cornell on Jan. 8.

The chances for Brown and Yale to win in January just dropped many notches. Jenner and Johnston look to be available for the Big Red.

Sorry to flip-flop...but now that the 2 J's are in the Big Red line-up - Cornell will get the W. ;)

Merry Christmas.......

Merry Christmas.......

Would like to wish everyone associated with the Brown Bear family a very merry christmas and a happy new year.

Happy New Year to All

Happy New Year to All

Scheduler did not to Brown any favors for the start of the new year. The Bears are facing top teams BU, Cornell, and Mercyhurst twice over the next two weeks.

Tomorrow is a home game with the BU Terriers. Looking forward to seeing that match.

Go Bears Go.

NewbieBear, great meeting you last night.

I have to say I was impressed with the energy and the effort. A "W" was certainly within reach, if not for that one very questionable powerplay benefitting the Raiders.

Bruno is definitely improving.

Best of luck today, and maybe just a little less of a good luck wish next weekend. ;)

The pleasure to meet was mutual. See ya next weekend.

Bit of a though outing on Saturday. Team played hard, but the best two players of Cornell clearly in a different class, and that was essentially the difference.

Bruno is indeed improving. While it does not show up yet on the scoreboard, this team is young and will only get better. It will take some time and you can expect lots of ups and downs along the way. We have a great set of core parents that support this team, a key ingredient to get Brown back to its former glory.

Re: Bears head out on the Road

They are only calling for 12"-16"...cowboy up, that's a light dusting on the prairies! ;)

Looks like saner heads prevailed. Tonights game is canceled:

Edit: The formal announcement on the schedule change from Brown

Team is waiting out the storm, before heading out on the road tomorrow for the games at Mercyhurst.

Re: Happy New Year to All

First Digit makes people not want to watch games. Now newbiebear is making people not interested in reading about Brown hockey at all.

If I were a parent of a freshman, I’d want a change in the program. Unless that is, you want your kid to go through all four years of college hockey with less than 5 wins each season.

p.s. I'm really not sure that a great set of core parents is actually a key ingredient to getting Brown back to its former glory haha. If it is, then I guess I’ll keep my fingers crossed for next years recruiting class to be another group of core parents for you.

Hcky85, the voice of reason. Thank you for posting what the rest of us have been feeling. Newbiebear sounds like Brown Nose bear or a cross between Alice in Wonderland and ... well....Digit. It's a pretty sad commentary when even the anti-coaches have nothing to say. Some concessions are in order here. The coaches have squandered the team's potential by excising valuable players and setting up one-stop shopping in Canada - figuratively, not literally - for those whose claws are already extended. Since Digit's meltdown 2 years ago, the team can hardly buy a win. Brown's athletic department must bear some responsibility here because it has either turned a blind eye to Digit's shenanigans or it just doesn't care about Women's Hockey. Shameful, in either case. Hcky85 has stayed true to the team and deserves applause for consistently stating the obvious. It's too bad that hardly anyone is listening or watching. Can anyone answer this - affirmatively I hope? Is it true that Digit and Coady only received 1-year contracts. If so, I'll be calling the team the Good News Bears! At least it would show that the Athletic Department is seeking redemption.
