Re: Brown Bears 2010 - 2011 - Dawn of a new Era

BTW67. Thanks for the comments.

The game tonight was a clear sign that the Brown squad is heading in the right direction. They played a lot better than the game last weekend. While it did not result in a win, there were still lots of positives to look at. All of the first and second year players are getting lots of ice time, often in key situations. A pair of rookies combined for a great pass-play-and-finish goal, the nicest goal scored on the night. Twice Brown battled back from deficits to tie the game, and when the score was tied they did have several chances to take the lead. In the end the difference in the game was the special teams. Dartmouth scored 2 goals on 6 attempts, while Brown was 0-3 on the PP.

This young team shows a never give up fighting spirit. That will sooner or later translate into wins and more success. As I wrote earlier, building a program takes lots of trials and tribulations. Brown is on the way back. It will take some time, but the team will get there. Remember that even in winning, the important thing to remember, and the achievement to celebrate, is the path that took you there.

Go Bears.

That puts that rebuild at around 1998. Must have been a good rebuild program. Brown did win an ECAC title in 2002 and got to NCAA title game in the same year. You must have missed that.

Maybe the Irish kid was one of those late bloomers.

Funny, I was thinking the same thing. I remember a pretty strong Brown team from back then...

Re: Brown Bears 2010 - 2011 - Dawn of a new Era

Just wanted to give all you fans of Women's Brown Hockey a heads up that there is a jersey from the Women's team up for auction at www.obermanauction.com. (Not to mention some other great college hockey items). The auction is going to help raise funds for the head Men's Hockey Equipment manager at the University of Minnesota-Duluth, Chris Garner. The auction is to help offset medical costs (not covered by insurance) incurred from a bone marrow transplant Chris had in August. He is doing well now and hoping to be back at work by mid to late November. The auction ends on Monday, November 8th, so please check it out.....www.obermanauction.com is the auction site again. Thank you!

Give it up.
Perhaps DC should give it up? No reason for her catty (no pun intended) comment to cookie's first (and non negative) post in this thread.

....and then DC goes on to talk about having class and respect in other threads. you're either a ***** or not, but own up to it if you are. no winky smiely needed.

Gonna have to agree with this statment. Not sure why Digit keeps getting let off the hook after her performance. She was great once, but has obviously lost her touch. No other coach (in any other sport) would have such longevity with the results Digit produces.

Go to Brown for the academics and the PLME program. Don't go to Brown for great hockey......I'm sure a good majority of the girls playing there figured that out before they even considered matriculating.

This is a yearly discussion around here.

Nothing at all against the girls...they are attending a fantastic school and I wish the Bears success this season.

I can attest to the fact that NewbieBear is not Digit. And no, NewbieBear is not Iceisnice either!

I can confirn that I'm not Digit, Not a coach, Not a Brown Employee and Not a Brown Student.
I can however be Nice. :)
Actually everyone should be nice to each other on this thread.

It seems that about once a week I need to remind posters on this thread that this thread is to support the Brown Bears Women's Hockey team. You can call me a cheerleader if you wish, but that is what I created this thread for.
If you like to start a discussion about what is wrong with Brown, do it on the past Brown discussion threads.
If you have constructive critisism, go for it.

Thank You.

Next two Weeks

Next two Weeks

The Brown Bears are facing Sacred Heart, Union and RPI over the next two weekends.

If the team keeps improving like they have been, and if they bring their A game these upcoming games, it will hopefully result with points in the W column.

Go Bears.

Only because the haters make it so. And I do fight my own battles in response to your neg rep. You seem to want to pick the Digit fight again. Take it to another thread.

My apologies for the disruption to this otherwise civil discussion...

Well, good luck to the Bears, but you'll realize that college hockey ain't the NHL. College teams get rebuilt EVERY year. To suggest otherwise is to do a disservice to previous players, all of whom gave everything they could, wherever Brown ended up in the league table in any given year.

Never said I couldn't take neg rep and haven't cried about a thing. I appreciate the posters who have given positive rep and who keep this thread from turning into the foodfight Brown threads became last year. I'm happy to discuss hockey - this year's Brown Bears and it's development.

Even though I still have no relationship with the program...

Go Bruno!

Re: Brown Bears 2010 - 2011 - Dawn of a new Era

NewbieBear, when did you become the free speech police? I think the thread is open to any poster. And for the record, I hardly think you're a "new"bie Bear. I think you and notfromaroundhere (ya that's obvious) have split personalities. You know way too much about the Brown Bears in way too short a span of time. So why don't you come out and tell us that you're notfromaroundhere (ya that's obvious).

Give it up. Your kid couldn't cut the D1 mustard. No big deal, only a select few can. So let it go.

Hux, I have 2 questions for you:
1) Why do you always attack ccookie79?
2) Why does every comment you post have to be about food (mustard)?

If you don't like what's being said here, then you go post somewhere else as well. No need to attack anyone's kid's ability and then pretend that you're a big team suipporter. You can't have it both ways.

Re: Brown Bears 2010 - 2011 - Dawn of a new Era

Great third period by the Bears yesterday. While they controlled most of the game, they had trouble converting several glorious chances early on. This changed in the third period when the PK unit got a short hander to open the flood gates. That same line then scored two more times.

Congratulations to Erica Farrer on a fantastic four point game.

As a parent of a rookie on the Brown team support both our daughter and the team through thick and thin. Not sure why you would question our allegiance or the authenticity of it. Can't speak to your comments WRT notfromaroundhere. When starting this thread thought I was quite clear in it's objectives.......All things positive Brown.....No Whining Allowed. If you want to whine, start your own thread.

Thank you.
