2013 schedule released. Brewers open at home vs Rockies 4/1. Season ends with 7 on the road (3 vs Atl, 4 vs NYM). Interleague opponents include home/away vs Texas (2 games each), H vs Oakland, H vs LAA, A vs Seattle, and H/A vs Twinkies (2 games each) (also A vs Astros, but that doesn't really count to me...yet).

Very happy to see they are FINALLY going to Seattle!!!! Now so am I!!! :D

I was going to look that up when I got home from work tonight. That is the first trip to Seattle since moving to the National League, right? They had to have played in Seattle before that.

Wow, 3 games out with 19 to play, Cards and Dodgers play a 4 game series starting today...not good for either team to to take 3 or 4 of those...need a 2-2 split to helP the crew make up some ground against the Mets.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

2.5 out, one behind LA. This season is even more unbelievable than last.

Brewers stole 7 bases last night and are now leading the league in SB. This is way more fun than Macha-ball.

Hart is available to pinch hit, but not ready to start yet.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Still 2.5 out, but now ahead of the Dodgers and right behind the Cardinals.

They surprised me by coming back this afternoon. Tough stretch ahead with 4 at the Nati'nals and 3 at the Reds.

One and a half games back.

Can't say I was optimistic after Marcum gave up that dinger in the 1st. Remember his epically bad stretch run and on into the playoffs? But he sure pitched well the rest of the way. Gio Gonzalez tomorrow going for his 20th W and Jordan Zimmerman on Monday I believe. It won't be easy but can't doubt these guys anymore.

never trust the Astros to do anything.

although if you get to a point in the season where you need the worst team in baseball to win to make the playoffs - you did something wrong earlier in the season. :) Still hope left. If the Brewers didn't give up when they were 736 1/2 games back, they certainly aren't going to give up now.

THERE is your dagger.

**** the 2012 edition of John Axford.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

Hope or no hope, this has been a fun little run and may be a good springboard for next season.

In July, I was already tuning out till pitchers and catchers report. Instead, I came back for 20+ games and feel good about next year.

I still #Brewlieve. I think it's just my bitterness if the Cardinals that partially fueling it.

What an amazing thing this second wildcard has been. And this fantastic run the Brewers put together has helped ease the pain of no NHL hockey.

Still alive!

<a href="http://mlblogsbrewers.files.wordpress.com/2012/09/braun-mvp-resume1.pdf">Ryan Braun's 2012 MVP Resume</a>. I'm convinced.

Re: Brewers 2011 - Yo...Marcum for the post-season or jen may get a little Greinke

The Rookie Brewers defeated the Real Padres and Axford got another save.

Josh Stinson today instead of Yo. Braun going for the RBI crown.

Headed to Miller Park tonight for the finale. Would like to see everyone, but mostly Morgan (who's likely gone) and Braun (to show appreciation for yet another amazing year).

Roenicke announced the entire coaching staff will return next year. Lots of interesting questions. Who's in the starting rotation? Will Segura be the shortstop? Will Gomez play every day? Where's Gamel going? What kind of changes are needed in the bullpen?

Ben Sheets to make his final career start tonight for the Braves against Pittsburgh. It will be game #250 for him. He said it's been an inspirational comeback, but he knows he's done.

I always liked him, except for the frequent injuries and the spat after the '08 season on who pays for his surgery and wanting free agency. His comeback this season was nice to see, and I hope he pitches tonight like he did in the early 2000's.

My main concerns for next year are all pitching related at this point. I think Segura will be the SS and Corey will stay at first, so the IF is set. We got two good young catchers behind the plate as well. The outfield seems good as well with Schafer taking Morgan's lefty/roving outfield role. The bullpen needs to be virtually gutted. K-rod is gone. Loe seems done. I never had any faith in Veras and I've reached my patience level with Manny. Kintzler should have a bigger role and we'll have Henderson for a full season. Axford will get another shot and I'm already holding my breath. The rotation needs some tweaking as well of course with no Greinke or Wolf and likely no Marcum. We'll have Yo, probably Narveson, maybe Estrada and a bunch of young guys battling for spots with Rogers, Thornburg, Peralta, and Fiers. I think they have to add a starting arm or to because you can't rely on that many young guys and another returning from a major injury for the whole season, IMO. Hopefully, Dougie has some ideas.

I'm intrigued with the outfield situation. I haven't watched much this year. I assume Aoki can't play everyday in CF defensively? Is be nice if he could so we could get Gamel in RF. Aoli is a great player but I'm not sure he provides what we need from RF...who knows. Any input on Aoki in CF?

As for pitching, Doug needs to go out and try to find a #2 starter level guy to help Yo with these young guys.

I LOVED Ben Sheets and it ticked me off when Brewer fans (including my old man) would get down on him. People can't help it when their bodies break down.

As someone who's body is starting to wear down - pinched nerve in shoulder for 6 years now and bad SI joints - I can assure everyone that it was far more frustrating for Ben to go through that himself than it was for any of the so-called fans who were ragging on him.

Going to see Ben pitch was awesome. Worked fast, didn't walk many. Great, but quirky personality. Would have been an all-time great if he could have stayed healthy.

Glad he was a Brewer and I remember that era very fondly when we were working towards where we are now. The teams with Sheets, Jenks, El Caballo, OOOO-verbay and even Sexson were a lot of fun in their own way. Still have my Buckethead Brigade t-shirt... :)

I can't remember seeing Aoki in CF this year (but if Gomez is going to play anyway, he should be in center). Not sure if he played there in Japan. I think if they can get something for Gamel, they should deal him and use Aoki in RF, even though he's a not a traditional RF-type guy. Gamel didn't really get a chance to prove he can be consistent offensively, but Aoki did - and was. SHOULD Gomez play every day? I like his improvement, but he still needs to get on base more. Although I think I like Aoki-Gomez better than Aoki-Gamel. The team isn't hurting for power and I don't think having Aoki in RF is much of a minus for them.

I'd like them to get an experienced starter (doesn't HAVE to be Greinke or a #1 guy - but if they have the money.... :)), and then let the kids (and Narveson) pitch for the other open spots besides Yo. Estrada has been pretty good the last 2 seasons in a starting role, but depending on who they get, the bullpen could use him too. I agree Axford stays, but the rest of the bullpen that was there at the beginning of the season - meh. Every single guy sucked horribly at some point during the season and I don't see any reason to keep Loe, Veras, or Parra. No clue who will be available in the off-season.
