Re: Bracketology

I don't think layovers would be a problem. The NCAA charters flights for the teams making the tournament and I know when BSU has been in it, they flew right into Bemidji. I would think they would do the same for Alaska.

I think square was talking from a fan's perspective, that it would be easier to get to MSP for fans... (though I imagine if they charter a flight, they'll have seats available for fans?)

Correct, fan's perspective. As for the team, they are so used to commercial air travel that a nonstop charter would probably feel right at home! :D

Re: Bracketology

East:

1. Denver
2. Yale
3. Alaska
4. RIT

Midwest:

1. Miami
2. North Dakota
3. New Hampshire
4. Minnesota-Duluth

Northeast:

1. Wisconsin
2. Boston College
3. Cornell
4. Ferris State

West:

1. St. Cloud State
2. Bemidji State
3. Michigan State
4. Vermont

Not ideal for Denver and Wisconsin, but if you want to preserve bracket integrity, this is the best option attendance wise.

Why send UNH out of the east if you want to sell tickets? If attendance is the issue keep UNH in the east. If you're that concerned that the western brackets have someone from the east (has never been brought up in any prior years) then ship Vermont out west for Ferris.

Re: Bracketology

I was just going off bracket integrity and then because there are four western #1 seeds, assign the brackets based on what I thought would be best for attendance.

Advertise free beer for anyone in a UW sweater, and the place will be sold out in 5 minutes!

As a Denver Fan, I would so love that bracket.

Re: Bracketology

I agree, but I would also argue that the top overall seed the last 3 seasons has not had that luxury.

Considering BU was the only #1 seed to survive the first round last year, I think it was easier for them.

Re: Bracketology

I'd love to be in a bracket with Cornell if only to finally see how awesome their fans are.

They were at the regional in Green Bay and they exceeded the hype. I thought they were great when the played CC in the first round and found them extremely irritating when they played us next.

Never seen 40 fans carry an arena like that.

A Cornell fan, actually a member of their band, is still the source of one of the funnier moments I've seen at a college hockey game.

It was at Van Andel in Grand Rapids for the NCAAs in 1997. I think it was between games, or perhaps right before the Cornell game, and the Cornell band was there, but they weren't playing. Also, there was no music being pumped over the loudspeakers. A good portion of the crowd was out on the concourse. Thus it was pretty quiet in the arena.

Some college age guy, wearing a maize colored Michigan jersey, and standing in the Michigan section, looked across the arena and shouted at the Cornell band, "we can't here you." Nothing happened, but this kid drew the attention of many in the arena. So he yelled it again, "we can't hear you." To which, a member of the Cornell band shouted back, "we're not playing." Everyone started laughing and the Michigan kid sat down.

The Cornell band even played the Denver fight song just to irritate CC. Priceless.
