Re: Bracketology

Vermont could go 1-1-1 and still miss the HE playoffs. They will have a +.500 TUC record which will help against similar teams. It would be interesting to see...

Re: Bracketology

I wanted to put my two cents in for the UW-Yale tie at the beginning of January:
Yale had the advantage of the missing Badgers for the Junior Tournament.
The Badgers had a huge home ice advantage at Kohl.

All this being said I would look forward to seeing this game at a neutral site in the NCAA's with both teams at full strength.

Yale gets smoked

Well, home ice advantage is never as strong for the holiday events (the Showdown and Showcase) because the crowds are usually much smaller, students are out of town, etc.

Re: Bracketology

I just ran through a few scenarios, and Vermont could finish #9 in Hockey East, miss the playoffs and not just make the NCAAs, but be a #3 seed.

Re: Bracketology

Good luck with that.

Having won 7 games in a row, and having outshot Wisconsin 42-22 in the meeting in Madison despite Wisconsin having a 2:1 advantage on PP chances, we would welcome the opportunity to play Wisconsin again.

You're players at the Juniors are noted, but with them maybe it's an even game that ends in a tie, instead of a game controlled throughout by Yale that ends in a tie :p

But let's not get too far ahead of ourselves yet.....still have work to do tonight and then in the ECAC Tourney before turning eyes to NCAAs.

Re: Bracketology

however, I think a win tonight and a split next week at UML gets them in HE playoffs, but that's no easy task for sure.

No one will win tonight because the Gut will be dark. But on Sunday afternoon, that is a different story.

I just ran through a few scenarios, and Vermont could finish #9 in Hockey East, miss the playoffs and not just make the NCAAs, but be a #3 seed.

And as long as they have a better than .500 record, they would get in...

all right then, i'd like to see that match-up, but remember it would be late march, not jan 3rd, i think that is relevant

Having said all that and the fact that UW tied means that you played pretty **** well and didn't even win with UW 3 men down. I like UW's chances against Yale in the tournament. Of course, anything can happen though.

I'm thinking Wisconsin doesn't lose to Quinnipiac at this point...........:o , i know , they out shot 'em 38-27

With nothing to play for, Yale came out flat, and never seemed that interested.
That said, with a solid goalie they could have come away with a W.

Assuming you guys win Friday night and wrap up 2nd place in WCHA, will be interesting to see how you play Sunday. If you win that game, I'll give you the nod. However loose Sunday at Minnesota and I think we call it a push

Re: Bracketology

Take the Yale/Wisconsin flame war elsewhere, ok guys?

Today's Bracketology:

Code:
[B]Albany Worcester Fort Wayne	St. Paul[/B]
Wisconsin Denver Miami St. Cloud
BC Yale UND Bemidji
Cornell Alaska UNH MSU
NMU AHA Champ UMD Ferris

To boost attendance, move the #3 seeds: Alaska to St Paul, MSU to Ft Wayne and UNH to Worcester.

The TUC line:

Code:
21	Minnesota	0.5218
22	Northeastern	0.5205
23	Mass.-Lowell	0.5191
24	Boston U	0.5149
25	Michigan	0.5136
---
26	Massachusetts	0.5108
27	RIT 0.5062
28	Merrimack	0.5058
29	Lake Superior	0.5035
30	Minnesota State	0.5032

Re: Bracketology

USCHO had/has the Alaska game wrong. Alaska beat UAA, and while the scoreboard is still wrong it seems they have fixed their pairwise. Alaska is in and Vermont is out.

It's been fixed. :)

A down year for Minnesota is an all-time high for Quinnipiak. Don't confuse the two schools. UW may lose or tie a game this weekend in Minnesota mainly due to the intensity level of the rivalry.

Re: Bracketology

i think BC should be in Worcester and Yale in Fort Wayne if BC finishes higher in PWR perhaps?

If the rankings change, so do the brackets. It has more to do with the #1 seeds anyway. Preferably it would follow 1/8, 2/7, 3/6, 4/5 regardless of which teams would go where.

BC in Worcester or Albany is fine with me. :) The brackets could change again after today's BU-UVM game.

I don't think anyone of the top 4 teams wants BC in their bracket, no matter where it is. ;)

Re: Bracketology

Should Alaska win their first round matchup vs. Western Michigan, they are heading for a showdown with NMU in Marquette. Could be one of the biggest games of the season.

Re: Bracketology

priceless what is the comp. between UND and Bemidji... the way it stands right now if it is close. I think attendance at st paul would be better with UND than Bemidji.. if they are realy close. thoughts?
