Re: Boston Universtiy 2011-2012 Part IV: Dont stop fighting til the fight is done!

Glad to see the Northeastern people have had the good sense to stay out of this and are smart enough to know that this situation is about an unfolding human tragedy, and not institutional or athletic rivalries. Some of the gratuitous comments from the upper end of Comm. Ave. have been sophomoric, at best. The facts and circumstances about who did what to whom and who knew what when will come out in due course. Until then, it's just premature for anyone on either side to sit in judgment.

I think everyone understands this is bigger than a rivalry, but at the same time, that will always play a role in message board fodder. I can tell you're an idealist, but that's just not how it works. In reality, judgments are passed all the time right or wrong.

But what you don't seem to understand is your only purpose here is stoking the fire. You're not adding anything substantive, you're just making fun of people, throwing out accusations about a situation that has nothing to do with your team. So I'll ask, what's your reason for being here?

My only purpose? What would you like me to add, chief? And am I making fun of you? Absolutely I am. What accusations have I thrown out? I didn't realize this thread was only limited to BU fans. As I said, if this happened to BC, the BC thread would have tons of BU/Hockey East fans in it. Deal with it. My reason for being here is because it's a public forum and I like reading what other people have to say. If something catches my eye, I respond. That's how it works, no?

Re: Boston Universtiy 2011-2012 Part IV: Dont stop fighting til the fight is done!

Sorry acs, you're probably the only person on this board who would somehow bring up that incident and try to compare it to this. I'm not turning this into a discussion on that. Too bad.

I thought it was good too. Thanks.

No problem, I'll take care of turning it into a PEaves discussion just phur you JD......now, lets see, where is that video clip...hmmm, must have it somewhere here. :)

Tell me, how many years was PEaves in jail for that atrocity? Or am I thinking of something else here? No, on second thought PEaves was suspended numerous times IIRC, no?

Yes Larry, a dumb goaltender charging at Eaves' knee on the ice in a suicide attempt is about the same as a guy raping a girl. Brilliant!

Give Max credit, at least his girls aren't 14 like Keith Johnson's ladies. (oh wait, that was a setup by those BC fans again right?)

On-ice incidents vs. an alleged rape.

Sigh.

Carmine, carmine, carmine. Years have clouded your already chitty memory of the event I can see. Allow me to 'replay' the dangerous play for those younger folk on the board who may not have read the headlines on that fateful day, eh? Let me know when you're ready, k ?

Re: Boston Universtiy 2011-2012 Part IV: Dont stop fighting til the fight is done!

Leaving aside the alleged victims here (and I do hope that the truth does come out, whichever way it falls) to me the biggest story is whether Jack keeps his job. Regardless of whether these guys are convicted of anything, the bottom line is that there has been a big stain put on the program. And it's not like these two incidents happened in a vacuum. There seems to be at BU a pattern of bad behavior (think Sabo, the baseball bat incident with Curry) that we are not seeing at other Hockey East schools. When stuff like this comes to a head, the crime is usually described as lack of institutional control. I think that describes Jack's situation to a tee. I think back to the elephant walk saga at UVM and how it impacted the decision on the renewal of Gilligan's contract. Let's see if BU reacts the same way, or will they do a Penn State and let Jackie ride into the sunset on his own terms.

I was there. The NECN clip showed exactly what happened. Only braindead dopes came to the conclusion that it was anything but an accident. Of course, a lot of them can be found right here so we luckily can perpetuate the stupidity for a little longer.

How long before someone calls you a "BC troll"?

But yet the only Hockey East fans who are showing up and consistently making comments about the incident are BC fans.

Carmine, do you think you've somehow managed to morph into a Bobo or something? Trust me, it's not working. Name calling and all that. Certainly doesnt speak highly.

Do I take it you're ready for a little memory recollection now? :)

To me the only story that matters is if Jack keeps his job. Regardless of whether these guys are convicted of anything, the bottom line is that there has been a big stain put on the program. There seems to be at BU a pattern of bad behavior (think Sabo, the baseball bat incident with Curry) that we are not seeing at other Hockey East schools. If you're going to lump the "baseball bat" incident with Curry in, you absolutely must also lump in the Green Line incident at BC, Darling getting drunk and thrown off the team incident at Maine, Cam and Tommy Atkinson getting arrested in CT after committing to BC, and the Motherwell/O'Hanley stories at BC. So from that perspective of "incidents" occurring at schools, it is not just happening at BU.

These two from this year aren't "incidents" like the others listed above and Parker has to be held accountable accordingly for them.

I don't think you can throw the Curry incident here. IIRC, the players were at a party, and defended themselves (and the lacrosse girls). They didn't expect the hooligans to come back with baseball bats. That wasn't the fault of any player.

But why let facts get in the way of an opportunity to get a dig in at BU?
