"Celebration of 40 Seasons"..... I'm thinking its not going to be much more than that.
As I think about it more, I just dont see them making an announcement that big during a game.
Just my guess.

But they already did that this year, no? That game where all of those former players came back to honor Parker's 40th year in the fall while the NHL was locked out, why have another ceremony honoring the same thing? Unless this is purely for show and to get people to buy tickets (very possible), what else is there to do?

Unveil a statue of him? I'm sure there are some great poses that could be used for a commissioned statue.

If anything could make the guy decide to hang it up, I'm wondering if 4 straight Beanpot losses did the trick. With all the emphasis he seems to put on those two games maybe, just maybe, it finally got through to him hence the need for a quick ceremony at the end of the year.

I would think, even if this is an announcement, that there would be a much much bigger celebration at some point further down the line and not just this quick ceremony.

That would be up to him. He might not want a big to do. I have extended family in Tallahassee and I don't think there was a big in season celebration for Bobby Bowden at FSU as it was unclear if he was going to retire on his own. Seems like a similar thing here. We've already had a rink naming ceremony, but if they want to do something else they can do it offseason as there's still games going on.

Which seems like somewhat classic Jackie sarcasm / humor. If he is joking about it, I don't suspect that we are seeing any big announcement on Saturday.

Just heard from a reliable source at the basketball game tonight...Frozen Fenway will be back next January. The ice will be down for over two weeks...there will be public skating (and corporations [or individuals] can rent the ice for one hour for the mere sum of $10,000). Also, BU will be playing Maine. The announcement will be made shortly...

Don't know anything about the other game. He told me they are going to have high school games, etc. Try to make a real "community" thing of it. Don't know if ND fits in, though. It's always been New England teams, so even though ND will be in HE, seems a little weird to have them come East for this (unless they will already be in town). But I really have no idea...

I just don't see how comments like this and "Jack has the refs in his back pocket" make sense anymore. BU is the most penalized team in hockey east. Deservedly so, sure.

Thinking logically, it was rumored to be ND for a long time, you guys are playing out in the cornfields next year, which means odds are they're already coming here.
Also means it would make it 3x in a row we lose a home game.

Totally agreed...when I said that to my source, he replied, "Well, you know how they feel about it once they find out there's money to be made." So, unfortunately, this won't end anytime soon...
