Totally agreed...when I said that to my source, he replied, "Well, you know how they feel about it once they find out there's money to be made." So, unfortunately, this won't end anytime soon...

I'm not totally against it, particularly with the opportunity for more OOC games. I think that when we did not participate last year, that Jack had said once every 4 years felt about right, and I guess I agree. It gives every kid a chance to play in one (if they stay for 4 years), and is not so often that they get stale.

Now weather I attend or not will depend on ticket prices, and seat location availability.

Also means it would make it 3x in a row we lose a home game.

Although next year with all these additional OOC games, it might not feel like you (and us?) are losing that home game.

Personally I would prefer if these types of novelty things were OOC games starting next year. Assuming these outdoor games are going to continue, and I had any influence, I'd vote for a BU/BC (OOC) game once every 4 years.

We knew this anyway... but just got this email:

Red Hot Hockey Returns!
Men's Hockey vs. Cornell
Saturday, November 30 @ 8:00 pm
Madison Square Garden

Red Hot Hockey, the wildly successful early season outing between long-time college hockey rivals Boston University and Cornell, returns to light up Madison Square Garden on Thanksgiving weekend 2013. The first college hockey event to ever sell out the historic Garden in 2007, Red Hot Hockey also produced sell-out crowds in 2009 and 2011, and has quickly become THE hotly anticipated biennial event for both schools' hockey fans.

I have just the most absurd idea ever that would never possibly work. But how about an outdoor game not during the break for students? Too bad we live in Boston and it is only cold from late December until mid January.

True... the timing is akward in that sense.

Does anyone have any sense of what's going to happen this weekend?

Yeah, me neither.

Is UVM still playing that nasty trap?

Reasonably confident in sunrise and sunset...beyond that it gets less certain. government - who knows?, BU hockey - who knows?

I have a guy coming over to give an estimate on replacing the roof; I am confident that will be a lot of money. So I can put that in the first column too.

I'm predicting that BU gets 3 points on the weekend and that JP gets a 40 year plaque but is not announcing retirement.

If Friday night is a 60 min snoozefest of clutch and grab nasty trap hockey, I might skip out on Sat night.

Clutch and grab paired with dump and suck does not make for a quality night of hockey viewing.

who the he!! gives up 50 (FIFTY) shots to vertrap!?!!?!

Didn't really see the trap. We outplayd them more than shots would indicate I thought.
About half of those shots would've been stopped by the mites team goalie. Perfect example of why shot totals are a bad indicator of how the game went. No reasonable person would say UVM was the better team. That said, still a fairly solid game from Maguire, promising to see.

I need a new hat. The team seems to be playing again. Hopefully they can keep stringing them together!

Out of curiosity, did anyone happen to notice the SOG total with 2 min to go in the third? It seems like we gave up quite a flury of shots once UVM pulled their goalie.

I actually noticed that UVM had 44 shots somewhere in the middle of the 3rd period (not sure exactly when, but definitely before or during the timeout before UVM pulled their goalie). I specifically remembering thinking that was crazy because it didn't seem like UVM had taken that many shots at all. I don't know if it's just the competition (don't think so because NU is worse than UVM) but this team looks completely different than it did a month ago. The passing is so much better I don't even know how to describe the improvement. Also, why have teams stopped pressuring BU in the defensive zone? Puck possession on the PP, not a ton of penalties (though I think the refs helped them with that tonight), good passing, good goaltending. This is like a real team again. I actually thought Vermont looked decent too. First hat-trick I've seen in person from BU. Was that the first BU hat-trick at Agganis? By the way, real classy from the fans who threw water bottles and nips onto the ice, like BU needs any more bad PR. #That's so BU.

Also, whoever thought that was a good slogan to try to force onto the students needs to be fired.

I was thinking about it and so many of UVM's "shots" were from scrums in front of the net where they kept hacking at it, so I think the official scorers kept going through game footage and retroactively adding shots. it seemed like their shot total kept skyrocketing on the board when nothing had happened. A solid performance from Maguire, but 50 shots isn't at all representative of who controlled the play. Where has that powerplay been for two months???? A good effort overall tonight against a team that was clearly trying to play the same game Lowell did last weekend, though not nearly as skilled, and we did a nice job overcoming it. Though UVM had been playing fairly well of late. Hopefully this can continue. And no, not the first hat trick at Agganis, Yip had one against PC in 09. First natural hat trick since Lawrence @UMass a week prior to Yip's when we got the six unanswered at Mullins.

Great to see Kurker doing his best Privitera impression! #thatssokurker

Edit: Jeebus, we were up 41-21 on faceoffs tonight, and Hohmann was 18-2. That'll help.
