Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

1997 was a disgrace. Sloppy play and the sense they had already won the title by beating Michigan. They don't give out titles for second place, which is what we got facing a determined North Dakota team. Much like 1991 it was a more talented team choking away a championship when faced with a tough opponent.
I agree about 97, but that 91 NMich team had a bit mote talent, especially offensively. The finished the season on a 26 or 27 game winning streak. Just as 97, our goaltending collapsed in the 2nd period.

And no, not the first hat trick at Agganis, Yip had one against PC in 09. First natural hat trick since Lawrence @UMass a week prior to Yip's when we got the six unanswered at Mullins.

Yip's was at Schneider. VDG had a hat trick in the HEQF vs in 2006 at HAA.

Parker has said many times, bunny had an issue with breakaways.... And bu's defense gave up too many that day.

Beating Nebraska-Omaha 9-2 the previous night may have been the 2nd worst thing that happened to the '06 team that weekend. Winning that handily can easily lead to complacency, or the "I hope Miami beats BC so we don't have to face BC again" mentality.

As for the '02 team, they couldn't solve that Maine team. Maine beat them 4x in March alone - the regular-season finale series at WBA (IIRC BU gave up 9 goals the 1st night), HE semis, and NCAAs.
Yes, in 06, BU smoked UNH in HE semis 9-2, then cam out flat against BC and were lucky to win that game in OT vs BC. The 02 regional final vs Maine was frustrating BECAUSE they lost those games late to UM, plus Maine had to play the night before while BU had the top seed bye. They should have been ready for the game, just as in 98 vs UNH, but they came up small, the 3rd of 5 straight regional final losses.

Good to see the team apparetnly coming back to form and actually beating teams that they should be beating.

When I think of hat-tricks, two favorites come to mind.
- Jay Pandolfo's SH Hat Trick against Northeastern.
- The double hatrick, by two defensemen no less - Ryan Whitney and Kevin Schaeffer, I think against an ECAC foe. What year was that - 2003?

I'm sure you did and another big , big win for the Terriers:). Now you are in the NCAA's! GO BU!.................#KeepParker:D;)

Not necessarily...this year there are likely to be multiple teams from the "non-elite" conferences, given the way the year has gone. For example, after losing to Harvard, do you think Q is guaranteed to win their conference tourney? If not, that means two teams from their league (auto bid and Q gets in via PWR). There may be other leagues where teams that wouldn't qualify get in by winning their conference tournament. This may sound ridiculous, but you're not really guaranteed being in unless you are in the Top 10 in the PWR. Because remember, the post-season games count in the PWR too.

Having said all that, I realize your post was in jest.. ;)

Anyone know if the chicken finger challenge was met last night?

Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

Late lineup change, apparently Maguire in net instead of O'Connor.

Interesting...do you know if this is due to injury, just going with the hot guy, a hunch, or abandoning the rotation??
