What precipitated the tête-à-tête between Jack and Noonan in the runway?

Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

I saw that as well and was wondering the same thing. From what I saw it wasn't pleasant. Didn't see anything on the ice to bring it about though.

Not a great effort. Ugh. They were getting my hopes up after the last two games. What's the only thing worse than a 40th anniversary Jack Parker puck? A 41st anniversary puck. That's what.

Ok...I'm editing this after a night to sleep. The Vermont goalie played really well and made a few amazing saves on break aways and an odd man rush. Not Jack's fault I reckon.

After the game Parker noted O'Connor may have a collapsed lung.

Not that any if this means anything really, but I'd rather they play the Mack in North Andover than play PC at home.

I hope OC isn't out for an extended period of time.

The Vinny revenge tour, with nothing on the line for NU scares me.

Yeah, he did. BUT...I actually kept a shot chart last night. BU had TWO shots on goal in the last TEN minutes of the third period. It just doesn't seem instinctive. They would have point-blank shots and either hesitate or pass; both instances would result in nothing. But I've said this for years with Jack. They seem "choreographed." As someone mentioned a couple of weeks ago, they start the season aggressive, with crisp passing and skating, and as the year goes on they get "tentative." That's usually because they're thinking too much. Hockey isn't like football. You can't "diagram" the play in advance. Sure, there are "set plays" but for the most part it has to be instinctive. There's no question in my mind that there is talent on this team (I'm not saying "best in the league" or anything like that), but for some reason they just can't consistently show that. Belichick usually puts his players in the best position to perform. Can we say the same about Jack? Maybe at one time, but I don't think so anymore. There are just too many "stinker" performances in important games (of which they all are at this point in the season). The trend is unmistakable, as has been mentioned ad nauseum on this board. "Disappointing" season-ending losses. This was a game we had to have in a tight race where we could have conceivably finished anywhere from first to eight. Right now, it looks like home ice is gone.

I'd rather play almost ANYONE on the road (except BC or UNH). The atmosphere alone at HAA is so bad it's pathetic. Yeah, the team is disappointing. But if you're (I mean a collective "you" for most people who attend) going to go to the game, at least show some enthusiasm or stay home. What do you go for? To sit with your arms crossed and criticize? I'm critical on this board but when I go to the game I'm pumped up and ready to cheer. I've brought this up several times. It's pretty hard to be enthusiastic when we score, you jump up and everyone just sits there and "politely applauds" for four seconds and then goes back to reading their book. I love New England, but I'm so sick of this attitude that it's not "cool" to have fun and get excited at a game. I try to get excited but the atmosphere that permeates throughout the building gets to me after awhile. That's why I only go to a few games now. It's just really not fun anymore... :(

By the way, my take on UVM is that they are vastly improved over last year and even early this year. BU didn't exactly lose to a complete tomato can last night.

****. Hope he recovers quickly.

I don't think this is a New England thing and I've seen BU fans rock the place after a goal at home before. Sad that it's not currently like that.

The reason I asked is that Gill was benched for the last shift in the 2nd period. As the team filed into the locker room at the conclusion of the period, Gill was the last player down the tunnel. Parker stopped him, and they had a one-sided chat.

Yeah, you're probably right. Of course, it doesn't help when there's only 2000 people in a 6500 seat arena - and that goes back to winning. So it's a vicious cycle..."we must kill it - how do you kilocycle?" Oh, never mind...

Re: Boston University season thread - strike 3! last man there turn out the lights.

The problem isn't the fans, its the team. Muultiple scandals, a coach that should have retired years ago, boring half @ ssed efforts, and a sense that nothing will change is killing the atmosphere. They're lucky the get the fans that they do.

I get it...and I'm not trying to argue. But my point is simply the place was dead BEFORE the game even started. Given that we can't change any of the things you mentioned, can't we just approach it in a "vacuum?" We're going to the game, let's have fun and cheer and hope they win! Everyone is SO cynical that they're defeated before they start. When we're in there, we should make them feel as though it's a "home" game (because it doesn't right now). Even when we were winning the fans weren't exactly "raucous" (compared to, say, even UNH and Maine - yeah, I know, they're big state schools). It's just the attitude here. It's Massachusetts and I've gone on and on about this before, but that doesn't make it incorrect. At this point, it's almost better on the road because they take that "circle the wagons" / "us against the world" mentality and play better. I mean, we can't change anything that's happened before. If last night was the first game you EVER went to, would it have seemed to you as though you were at an arena where the team was TWO POINTS out of first place (and could have tied with a win - at least until the rest of the results were in)? Would you rather be at the bottom of the standings. With everything that has happened this year, this was a chance to put everything in the past and make a final push.

I guess maybe it's because I'm older and when you have parents die and people get sick it's just not the end of the world with me as it used to be. I love the game and I want to enjoy it when I go, but I can't when everyone just sits there expecting the worst. I'm passionate and opinionated, but when I'm there I still want to support the team. When I come home there are other things that are more important (unless I'm reading this board :D)

Now, if it's because they're voicing (or not voicing :) ) their displeasure, fine. But just stay home because you're ruining it for those of us who enjoy the atmosphere and want to have a fun night out. I'd rather have an empty seat than someone who is just going to sit there. Go to the game, cheer and then do whatever you have to do later (write a letter to Brownie, complain to someone, start a petition to have the coach fired, whatever...)

It starts on the ice.

If they were victims of close losses in which they gave it their all, I suspect we'd see more heart from the fans too. When you aren't sure if you might see the worst performance of the year on any given night, I can understand people sitting and waiting for the inevitable.
