Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

Yah!
All my news comes from twitter now. Immediate and in short 140 character blasts!

Get with the 90s already defkit :D

I definitely need to get with the times. I think I've made it to the '90s, just not much further.:D Perhaps I'm stuck there since BU was such a powerhouse back then :(

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

so what did happen to him? violation of team rules, not really that good a player as thought?

Unless something comes out, I would say most definitely the latter. Breed is a true walk-on who tried out for the team which is a rarity in a upper level D-I team. I would say that if there was an injury, he would be the first one to come back on.

Is there a limit to how many guys can be on the team? If he was already named to the team, unless there is someone else they wanted to put on instead, why would he then be removed, even if he is not likely to play? Extra cost for one more guy? Really no shot of him ever playing, so not fair to him to commit time to practice, etc.?

though priceless is gone, he is not forgotten :D

he had tweeted some stuff about the kid being picked up for things young kids do (especially i imagine if they are stuck growing up in god-forsaken maine of all places!!!). perhaps in this new environment when word of that filters down they figured just punt. or maybe he is a sacrificial example? or maybe it's something else entirely....

Portland Press Herald:
After Breed was accepted at BU last spring, he got Cape Elizabeth Coach Bill LeBlond, who played four seasons at BU, to introduce him to Coach Jack Parker last May.

Breed wasn't given much encouragement.

"(Parker) told him he had some good news and he had some bad news," LeBlond said.

"The good news was that he was going to give Nick a look, and then the bad news was that he probably wouldn't make (the team)."

My guess is once Courtnall signed with the P-Bruins, Parker took a look and initially thought Breed could at least skate on a 5th line in practice. And then changed his mind.

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

So maybe he won't be coming back..... None of these are exactly earth shattering crimes, but I suspect that there is a very low tolerance for these types of things right now at BU.

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

Well, unless you think of a reason why he would have left the scene of an accident...

Re: Boston University 2012 Offseason

Late to the speculation party. At a dinner with former player and his family from the '09 team. He was amused at the account of the Agganis celebration following the NC. Said a keg was at center ice, players skated around spent "team time" together, shot puck, all while fully dressed. He left early as he said he was still recovering from the celebration the night before. Said t was possible a couple of girl friends arrived later in the evening but the notion of group sex made him laugh out loud. Said he and all would have known if such a thing ocurred and that nothing of that nature ever ocurred in his 4 years to his knowledge and that the entire team would know these things.

Said the BU celebration was no different then at the other end of Comm Ave except those guys got to celebrate 3 times versus only 1 at BU.

Take this as you like but this is a kid that was so at ease discussing this and so disappointed at the sensationalistic reports and what it means for the school and team that I saw no indication of any manipulatin of the facts. He also provided detailed accounts of both the Trivino and Nicastro events. I will choose to keep those accounts to myself but the media and speculation on this board is way off base.
