They stripped Parker of one of his titles but then say they couldn't fire him from his coaching position because he technically didn't break any rules. So...how did they strip him of one of his titles in the first place? Did they actually want to remove him as coach? That's my question.
They couldn't. After all, the article says at the end "That is partly because the task force could not find any specific university rule that Parker broke in failing to relay information up BU’s chain of command. " So in other words, it was not his fault, he did nothing wrong. Though you would think a person who has been employed at that school for how many years would know which person on the chain of command he would need to report those things too.
So what does Parker have against group sex? Its not team building?
Unbelievable a player would say that to a task force. WTH. Knock knock. Anyone home? This just got 15 minutes on D&C. Their take is that if this were a big-time basketball or football program Jeremy Schaap would be on Jack's door step this morning. And the women's groups would be working on their signs right now.
BU Hockey Player: "You don't ask permission for sex when you're drunk." Lovely.
So much for the "move along, nothing seriously wrong here" we all tried to spin when the report came out.
This just went to DEFCON 3.
BU Hockey: Time for New Leadership
That's what I was wondering. Since when is "too many men in the box" a penalty?
I think that was one of the reports findings... that lack of a clear chain of command left it unclear who they should be reporting to.

I don't even know the full history of what players have done in the past, but just having read the Globe articles about these recent charges and the BU report, I gotta tell ya, I don't know how Parker survives this. I'm not a BU/HE fan nor hater...but from my view, this thing smells to high heaven of a runaway program where a legendary coach was more than happy to let "the boys" have the run of the joint.
If I'm the President or a Trustee, how do I look myself in the mirror with Parker still at the helm? At the end of the day, the institution needs to decide what it stands for. The DC crowd is right..if this were Miami football or UConn hoops, ESPNs Sal Palantonio would have an RV parked on Commonwealth Ave.
If they couldn't remove him as coach, how could they remove him as executive AD or whatever other position he held?

I feel most the findings of this commission aren't specific to BU, but rather the culture around student athletes in general,
I agree. Yesterday when I first saw the report I figured he'd be coaching until the end of his contract and that's it. Now after this latest dirty laundry today I'm not so sure that's going to do the trick. What happens if there's another "incident" no matter how minor? When Silber ran the U, he couldn't care less what people thought of the place and would have kept Parker around just for spite. Not sure Bob Brown has the same loyalties here.
Edit: I will not respect a coach who does not summarily dismiss players for drinking in the locker room.
