YES, this was also the game where tough guy Vinny Saponari batted the puck out of mid air into the net and BU fans everywhere acted like it was the greatest goal ever.

he learned how to do that while he watched the epic 3 OT HE Semi in 2008 vs UNH when BC did it twice in the same game and in the same period too i believe.;)

Correct. And Ben Smith had a great one at EggAnus one year as well that was a another batted in puck that had some mustard on it, that one was from mid slot, which is pretty far out for a batted puck to go in from.

I guess we're just spoiled as we've had some real jaw-droppers from Kolanos (NDak 2001) to Gaudreau (FSU 2010) to Gerbe (Ndako 2006) to Kreider (vs. Nicastro) and I have seen a lot of BU games over the years and can't remember a ton of real slick goals like the ones above. Maybe that's why none of us joygasmed from the pucks that got batted in.

Who was the BU guy who tripped himself in the Beanpot and scored (on Harvard maybe???). Higgins maybe?

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

One of the more recent ones that I don't believe has been mentioned is BU's 5-4 OT victory at Conte in early 2010. Game winner came on a patented Colby slapper from the point. As I recall, however, Muse didn't start in net that night...

Ahhh a BU PP awarded with 39 seconds left in regulation of a tie game. Money well spent by Jack.

I remember this one well. A brutal call from Tom Quinn after letting the exact same play go uncalled on BU.

Hadn't previously seen this NESN feature on Higgins' goal, probably b/c it didn't get uploaded to YouTube until two years ago.

Higgins just joined ECHL Utah Grizzlies, where Rollie is a backup goalie.

I watched Higgins play for the Gwinett Gladiators of the ECHL about three years ago. He looked very good - probably the best player on the ice that game. He should have no problem hanging at that level.

Ya but how much do those guys make in the ECHL?

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Not much. I know the min salary is 425 per week. So somewhere between 600-1000 per week I would guess

Quick question, going to Agganis (well T's but then Agganis) straight from work. Would I be able to bring my work bag into the arena? It's essentially a laptop bag. Thanks.

Very unlikely. They will let you leave it in a semi-secure "not our fault if it's gone" location under the stairs. I haven't heard of any problems but...

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Thanks, sounds like it's not worth it.

I've been allowed in with a camera bag that is essentially like a laptop bag. I think they are more strict with "backpack" type bags. I had a friend bring in a messenger bag every game one year, so it's YMMV it seems, but I think you'd be ok with it.

Good Win. Hopeflly we can keep it going tomorrow... going into this weekend i was thinking that the loser of game 1 would have the edge in game 2.
