A picture that was on the wall of T's Pub before its first closing. Unlike this cover photo, the picture in T's Pub did not cut off the "BU loves T's Pub" sign in the lower right hand corner! :D

Favorite recent BU v BC moments

3 goals 44 seconds
5-0 stick salute at Conte. BU fans came out in one large drove for that game. You just don't see fans of other schools coming to an opponent's rink with that many people.

Not so recent would be: "We shouldn't have to beat BC for the nationals. Hell, we can do that anytime"- OC

Most memorable experience BY FAR...the Blizzard of 78. About 3000 people actually slept there that night. The last T train left around 9:30, as I recall. One of my friends had a car or else I might have stayed myself! We won the game but that was incidental at that point (it was a blowout anyway, 12-5). They had to wait until March to play the championship game because the city was shutdown. The eeriest feeling of my life was walking down Beacon Street with NO sounds...the snow was so high we were looking down upon car roofs. It felt like 19th century London with the gaslights and brownstones and nothing but silence. People were cross-country skiing all around town. We walked to Brighton for a party the next weekend and it took about two hours just to trudge through the snow, which was still a foot deep even after being tramped down. Just an unforgettable experience...

Here's my favorite...
Gaudreau has 2 goals and 6 assists (setting up hat tricks for Mullane and Whitney).
BU called for 3 diving and 2 embellishment penalties.
Matheson becomes the new BC Bad Boy for fan boys to cry about... knocking one Terrier senseless, braking another's wrist, then stands in front of the BU bench inviting them all over to his place for tea.

OK... so it's not a recent memory, but it will be next week. :D

Big hit not yet mentioned: Scott Shaunessy on ???? in the 1986 Beanpot (Part of the Battle of Comm Ave video.) Dude broke a pain of glass in the Garden.

Favorite BU-BC game? All of the BU wins. :)

One of the more recent ones that I don't believe has been mentioned is BU's 5-4 OT victory at Conte in early 2010. Game winner came on a patented Colby slapper from the point. As I recall, however, Muse didn't start in net that night...

I loved Gibbons hit on Gryba. :-)

I think Melissa has a great picture of it, I'll dig around later

You recall correctly. Didn't BC score late in that one to tie or am I making that one up?

i think you are right, Kreider ties it up late (i think BC was down 2 in the third) and BU wins on a deflected shot, maybe a patented Colby slapper but it was a deflection IIRC

edit, Mullane tied it up, just checked

Ahhh a BU PP awarded with 39 seconds left in regulation of a tie game. Money well spent by Jack.

Re: Boston University 2012-13 Season Thread -- Up To The Task?

Picture would show everyone standing around caus the play was dead when the little midget ran him :p

From my perspective, that's made it even funnier. Not only did Gibbons drop that dumb turd like a bad habit (and really if anyone deserved to get it, it was Gryba), he got away with it being somewhat late...I really thought it was borderline but certainly would have understood if it was called.

That kid has some great nastiness which made him a favorite for his 4 years.

YES, this was also the game where tough guy Vinny Saponari batted the puck out of mid air into the net and BU fans everywhere acted like it was the greatest goal ever.

Did you see the goal? If not you can follow the link below and wait for highlight #1 at the end of the video.

Apparently some non-BU fans thought it was pretty good too.

Eric Gryba - Good college hockey player or the best college hockey player ever?
