Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

...and nobody has this on tape to post to YouTube and share for us who were there and missed it??? ;)

The embellishment penalty on Noonan, when he was so cleared cross-checked from behind in the square of the back at such a crucial juncture was ludicrous. And another example of why that is such a stupid penalty. If it is enough to call a penalty, there is no call for embellishment. If there is not enough to call a penalty, it is embellishment. It can't be both.
Noonan gets cross-checked from behind and goes down. Anyone would have gone down.

There was a pretty good game going on, but Bunyon was watching something else. Keenan wasn't much better.

The refs couldn't have possibly gotten that call more right. Check out page 6, question 9. https://ncaaicehockey.arbitersports.com/Groups/106896/Library/files/2011%20NCAA%20Ice%20Hockey%20Test-most%20missed%20questions(2).pdf

Rule 6-11-b is very clear that embellishment always gets called in conjunction with another penalty.

I just watched it on tape. The announcers were laughing. One even said "that's an Emmy!". I think Parker better get to know the rules before he blows a gasket.

Thanks for setting us straight!

Can't compare the 2. Alex was clearly hurt, not embellishing. In fact, surprised O'Neill didn't get the gate for that hit....it was dirty

Have you seen a replay of this yet? It was textbook embellishment. The guys on tv were making fun of Noonan so bad for the dive.

They got that one right. There should be no doubts about that.

Argggg, we need to figure out how much Timmay sent the officials and top that! :p:mad:

There was a penalty earlier in the game that should have an embellishment added to it also. loved the John Curry move when Maine was swarming early in the game also.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

Apparently Parker didn't comment at all about officiating after the game, so he probably didn't comment at all about his ejection either.

You are correct, he made Connolly do it ;)

Getting tossed with 4sec left is a non story. Game is over, who cares. Cripes almighty

Of course it isn't, it involved your coach!!!

I am stunned Maine took four points. Reminds me of the weekend during your national title season where UVM took four in a weekend at Agganis.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

Was there a particular call he was upset with? Or just that Maine had more PPs? ;)

He was sending notice that the Beanpot is a mere week away and that this chit had better not happen then. ;)

O'Neill wasn't called for ANYTHING.

Parker wasn't arguing after the Noonan flop, that was a clear as day flop, but it didn't really change anything in the game, it was a non-factor to subsequent play. He was arguing after Clendening was called for slashing that, although it was irrelevant at that point, was not a slash as his stick never made contact with the opposing player. I think Parker getting thrown out was more a purposeful move that showed his built up frustration from the weekend and to show his team that he was fighting for them for what they all believed to be a terribly officiated series.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

Bertagna has shown no indication he thinks the officiating is a problem. That alone is a problem, but anyway...

Nothing ever seems to change. So, beyond showing his team he was behind them, it's more or less a waste of time to berate them in that fashion. But, it's been going on for years. If the officiating never changes, Jack probably won't either.

Bingo!

All in all, while getting swept was disappointing, the effort and the way they approached the games were not. The effort was there and they played very well at times (particularly in the 2nd period of last night, and the first period friday night). Maine is clearly on the upswing, and Sullivan played great. If you told me 39 shots on goal (many of which were not of the toss it at the net from a bad angle variety) and Millan in net then I'll take my chances with that for the rest of the season.

Gotta just shake it off and get ready for Merrimack.

As I posted on the Maine thread. Learn the rules. You fanboys are hilarious. You're the greatest fans in the world because you wear jerseys but don't even know the rules. OK.

Slashing
SECTION 47. a. A player shall not slash an opponent with the stick. Slashing includes all cases where a slashing gesture is made regardless of whether contact occurs.

we have to sit together at a game... i want to hear you get up in arms when the two fwds on a pk are waving their sticks back and forth at the point and yell for gravel or benny to call slashing :D or better yet when a puck is in the air and a dude tries to bat it out of the air, "SLASHING!!! SLASHING!!!" ;p

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

Thank GOD we finally got a "knock the goal off onpurpose" comment in a BU-Maine discussion. I was getting worried.
