Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

6 weeks? Ugh... definite big loss... hope they can sort it out.. . . . Either way I'm looking for the team to rebound and I'm predicting a win. They looked kinda flat last night, but at the same time it was in no way a stinker of a performance. I thought they were playing particularly well in the first period. Maine made some adjustments and a lesson learned is to stay out of the penalty box against one of the best power plays in the country. . . Lets go tonight and lets hope the crowd shows up with a bit more enthusiasm than last night.
1. Agreed, it wasn't a stinker. I don't know if anyone has seen the charts, but it seemed to me that BU had a bunch of Grade A opportunities. Woulda, shoulda, and coulda, but just change two things (the failure to clear and a short-side goal) and we would have gone home smiling. I'm sure the Mainers can catalog their near-misses, too, but overall I thought BU had the edge.

2. Agreed also on the loss of #6. He'd been playing well and this team isn't deep.

3. And likewise puzzled by the empty seats. If being something like 12 and 2 isn't a good enough run to draw in even casual fans, what would?

Finally, speaking of 3, I had a bad feeling when I saw that it was #3 who was on last night's ticket. No such problem tonight.

bu tickets are not cheap. yah yah, bruins tickets are 3x+, but the level of play we get is more than 3x+ as well. it's college athletics and a fringe sport (sorry). we love it, but there are a dedicated group of folks that love lacrosse and soccer too. :D also, please remember that bu didn't bang out wba on a consistent basis - even in the 'good ole days'.. unless it was bc/umo/uhn. and that was with $8 and $10 tickets.

add to that bad weather, and comm ave was a parking lot all night leading up to the game. i think they turn off a lot of people with the ridiculous ticketmaster charges.

I tried posting this from my phone last night, but I don't know if the link worked, but someone (the team?) hung this banner in the tunnel leading to the Maine bench, never seen this before from an opposing team:

Edit: came out small, it's basically a giant banner with their name and logo.

Ole Walshy just owned Jackie, didnt he. ;)

Thanks for fixing my spelling Chickod. My excuse is I banged that out on my phone and the text is small. (</End lame excuse.)

I loved the way BU came out for the 3rd quarter last night ;) (Post light issue.) They had one shift that had them cycling for a full two minutes. Just awesome. Need more of that. I think they can bring a big more intensity tonight as well.

Bummer about #6. It sure looked broken when he came off. Injuries happen. Unfortunately due to #10 and #3's departure, depth they ain't got.

Oh, and thanks for posting those videos bantam75. Good memories.

BU Hockey: Beat Walshy!

This team can't buy a friggin break this year. Unfortunate but that's the way it goes sometimes I guess.

All true. My buddy at work is a season ticket holder at BU and he was complaining this week about the parking situation at Egganus. $12 a night to park there is pretty freaking steep. Throw in expensive tickets (one of the highest in the league I would imagine) and it becomes a costly night. He was thrilled when I gave him my tickets to Conte for a game that it was free parking and a nice easy escape out the top of the garage if you park up high near the library.

Good luck tonight.

Just saw the Maine sign. Very tasteful. Not covering any arena signage. Respectful. No issue whatsoever.

At Matthews two weeks ago, I was pleased to pay $1,25 for water. Didn't make up for the $25 for parking, though.

Lineup sheet has 8 on D and 16 on 3rd line. However, warmups Rosen and gilroy were skating forwards and the 5 remaining D were grouped together doing their drills.

I park on the street here. Paying is dumb. Drive around in Brookline if needed. And yes nick, driving to the top of the garage up the heights is a nice secret. Keep it quiet!! ;)

Appears that way. They have 5D dressed and an extra forward. Guess he's the extra.

Typical Parker, I'm sure BUtanga will have nothing to say about it
