Was Parker being thrown out of the game justified? What did he do?

Not much. He just told the ref to go phuck himself. :D Only problem is he exposed himself on national tv doing it.....lol

Oh I'm sure throwing him out was justified. He knew he was going to get thrown out, he'd just reached the point where he didn't care. Can't say I blame him.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

Probably not the right night for this comment since my(our) team lost, but I get so sick and tired of watching these HE games get absolutely ruined by poor officiating, phantom calls, then make-up calls. These guys call some bad penalties early in every game and they wind up chasing it all night long.
In terms of PP time, the numbers may even out, but their fingerprints are all over the game.
I'm not saying these games this weekend would've turned out differently, but if these guys see the replays of some of the penalties they called this weekend (on both sides) they really would be enlightened as to just how bad they were. Doesn't appear to be any one guy. It's just about all of them.
Now excuse me while I break something!

Agreed, there were some excruciatingly bad calls tonight. I didn't go Friday night, but if tonight is any indication... then yeah.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

Here is the conundrum: tonight's officiating was absolutely horrible. But I don't want to take anything away from Maine, because they played a second solid game this weekend. I don't want to say that it cost BU a victory, or a tie, because there is no guarantee that better, or even mildly competent officiating may have made a difference in the final result.
But I will say this: it would have been a different game to what we saw with at least decent officiating.

Bunyon called at least three penalties that were in no way penalties. He is anticipating penalties rather than calling actual penalties. Making calls that never happened can be even more frustrating than not making calls that should be penalties.
The embellishment penalty on Noonan, when he was so cleared cross-checked from behind in the square of the back at such a crucial juncture was ludicrous. And another example of why that is such a stupid penalty. If it is enough to call a penalty, there is no call for embellishment. If there is not enough to call a penalty, it is embellishment. It can't be both.
Noonan gets cross-checked from behind and goes down. Anyone would have gone down.

There was a pretty good game going on, but Bunyon was watching something else. Keenan wasn't much better.

Their incompetence was disappointing, because the game is played without any confidence that the officials will get the calls right.
The quality of officiating was so far below the level of play that it simply left a lot to be desired, and what might have been was an even higher quality game. It is a problem that seems to plague college hockey across the leagues.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

A few people were questioning Cisse's effort, or lack thereof, on Friday night. He can be frustrating because he seems to glide through games and rely on physical gifts, rather than play all-out.

He wasn't on the bench for third period. I assume he was dressed, but basically benched. So why wasn't he on the bench for the third period? Anyone know?

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

I agree completely Harry. Lost in my point was that Maine played 2 very good games. I thought BU did as well, but just couldn't finish chances.
Two very entertaining games and the officials become the story. Not because of the results, but simply because theycouldnt let two very good teams just play these games.

At Matthews two weeks ago, I was pleased to pay $1,25 for water. Didn't make up for the $25 for parking, though.

Northeastern has free parking for men's and women's games in the Columbus Street lot.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

Cissé hasn't played hockey for 2 yrs and has undergone 3 major surgeries. I would think that he needs time to adjust to the college game. Several games he has had minimal ice time. I don't know why the coaches dressed him and forced him to sit on th bench and watch his team. That seems to me like a cruel punishment. He was no worse on Friday than several of his teammates. I don't know why they felt it was a good idea to humiliate him like that.

Cmon, Noonan went down like he was shot, he looked like a soccer player, it was def a cross check, but him throwing his hands in the air was pretty bad.

That one looked horrible on tv. Like, should have been a dive and no penalty on Maine.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012 Season Thread: Part III: Now What?

Hard not to be impressed with how BU was playing up until this weekend. Can't say I expected Maine to go 4-0 over the past two weekends. Should they meet either BC or BU in the playoffs, my money would still be on BC/BU. That being said, looks like Maine is hitting their stride and might be in NCAA contention.

Didn't see the game, but my God, why is Scott Weighart allowed to write BU game recaps? Not a single quote from Parker on his ejection and he barely slipped in the fact he was tossed at all...near the end.

Apparently Parker didn't comment at all about officiating after the game, so he probably didn't comment at all about his ejection either.

Yes, Noonan's flop was a flop. The Maine guy did raise his stick in a cross check motion, though. Who knew you could be called for slashing when your stick doesn't actually make contact with the other player? I will say Megan's slash was utterly stupid and uncalled for in a horrible spot. Props to Maine for scouting us very, very well, playing extremely hard, and frustrating the living hell out of us. Let's not forget we were also pretty shorthanded roster wise tonight. I heard after the game Nicastro was questionable for tonight, so it would seem his injury is not long term. Sadly, Privitera's appears to be at least through the regular season.

Getting tossed with 4sec left is a non story. Game is over, who cares. Cripes almighty

Calling the ref a F'in Ahole and then telling him F you is a pretty funny story if you ask me
