Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

Sorry I didn't feel like surfing through pages of posts, but can one of you point me to a link of BU's 12-13 schedule, or at least what is known at this point. Mainly concerned with October home games.
Thanks,
Ryan J

I don't believe it's available yet. There may be pieces of it on the 2012-2013 schedules thread. Home opener is October 13th.

On a separate note - congrats to any and all BU students who graduated yesterday. Looks like you had a few thousand uninvited visitors. Seriously, that would have freaked me out and I would have left. I hate bees.

Say it aint (pole)s(ell)o.

Coincidence that Kurker had a meeting at HAA this week?

Couldn't have been Kurker. Haven't we heard from all non-BU folks that he's not coming?? Even though he tweeted he got his acceptance letter? Refuse to believe it. Those folks are never wrong.

;)

i haven't read that from hoky, so we can't say one way or the other.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

Boston Hockey Blog posted a Tweet from Kurker:
skurker9 It's official! Heading to BU next year. Cannot wait to get started

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

The question I have for those who know more than me: Is Kurker ready to come to BU a year early or are we going to expect just an ok season as he would need to mature one more year?

I was wondering the same thing. IIRC, Peter McArthur came a year early, and he certainly stepped right in. (I may be a little confused - I know there was a point at which he was worried that he wasn't ready yet, but not sure what led to that discussion).

Either way, this is outstanding news, especially given how definitive some of the "he's gone" statements were just weeks ago.

I think it was the opposite. I believe MacArthur was supposed to come in the 2003-04 season as a true (18 yo) Freshman, but played 1 season in USHL (Waterloo) after prep (Northwood).

As a byproduct of MacArthur being pushed back a year, Chris Higgins was pushed back a year. IIRC Higgins was originally targeted for the 2004-05 season, but played 1 season in EJHL (NH Jr. Monarchs) following prep (Pingree).

Kurker's predecessor as captain and top scorer at St. John's Prep, Colin Blackwell, went directly to Harvard and put up a 4-15-19 line, tied for 6th on the Crimson. Blackwell was drafted by San Jose in the 7th round last June

Nice to see Charlie Coyle has done well in the Q (as he should be). Playoff MVP.

Cue Bob Lobel.

Hmmm, his coach said Coyle is the most complete player he's ever seen at the Major Junior level, then he's named the Q playoff MVP, yet BU fanboys felt him leaving was pretty much an "addition by subtraction" situation. Bet you could have used him instead of some of those 5th liners you skated vs MN in the NCAA's....

Hmmm there were very few (if any) comments about the team being better without coyle. Maybe you are confusing that with many people agreeing that Trivino was a bigger loss.... Either that or your superfanboy nature is showing.

If anything most people commented that we would have done better had we not lost those players.

Negative, most fanboys suggested he was really no loss at all and wouldn't be missed. I remember wondering what the he!! they were talking about as he was 2nd or 3rd in points on the team I believe when he left.

Re: Boston University 2011-2012: Part The Sixth

Any information on the incident that caused Robert Polesello to decommit, after being asked to wait a year? Obviously, it wasn't bad enough to rescind a scholarship offer. But given the recent off-ice issues ...
Polesello was considered a top college prospect, despite his size, but had a very mediocre year.

Kurker moves up a year, and I believe he'll be a very good college player. Maybe even right away.

I'd say the correct answer is in between. There were definitely one or two BU fans who felt Coyle was not a factor and that the team would not miss him (and were very vocal about that opinion). But I would say most (including myself) felt the team was worse off without him.

As a side note, I think the general feeling was that he would be a top player in the Q, given the age difference versus college. So I'm not sure that his performance or the coaches comments are necessarily going to change opinions on either side. The real test will be to see how he does at the pro level. I for one hope he is successful. I don't like the way he left the team, right in the middle of the year, but it's done and everyone has moved on.

There certainly were some loudmouths who were saying things like that, but you'll notice they're the same ones that are always the debbie downers on guys.

Just for fun, my posts at the time:
