Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

And having filled out the survey, I find it a little odd that is says the drawing for prizes will consider any entries received by April 19th, when I didn't get the survey until today....

Just curious, what were the prizes they offered to you? Students prizes were two SportsPass Upgrades (All BU games at HAA plus Beanpot tickets, and first dibs among students on at BC tickets and HE Semis/Finals) and one replica jersey autographed by Parker.

Hopefully the number 1 thing you put on the surveys is making sure Agganis e-mails are accurate and go out on time. Every year there is always confusion as to when tickets go on sale and during the year when there are special events.

Everyone has there own #1 choice so it's unfair to ask someone to put one thing down as #1. For example prior to being a student my seats in 113 were so far from RSIG I wouldn't have thought twice about them, and now that I'm a student I'm too poor to afford concessions so it's not a huge concern of mine if they can increase the quality on a chicken finger that I don't eat.

I did note on mine that an email when away tickets are available for sale would be great so I don't end up going down to the box office 3 times a week to check on the ticket status, or possibly giving student season ticket holders an away ticket order form, much like the regular season ticket holders have.

I had fun with it... Thank god for comments sections!!

They'll learn not to follow up a yes/no question regarding whether you take advantage of free services offered by BU cheerleaders before the game with an open ended question allowing you to write whatever you want.

One of the following: A pair of season tickets, a season parking pass, and $100 concession gift certificate.

Just got the following email:
Thank you for your email. Our sincere apologies, but the date at the end of the survey for our ‘enter to win’ deadline was incorrect, and it should have said May 28th. You will be eligible for the drawings, and again sorry for any confusion. Thank you so much for providing feedback in our survey!

Just got the following email:

Haha, they can't even get the feedback survey right. Looks like they're going to do a great job making the suggested improvements then...

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

I DID mention that the "Terriers in the NHL" Balcony in woefully out of date.

It annoys the heck out of me.

You guys should ping on them for that as well.

It's sloppy.

Also, out of date are the All America plaques and the AA murals. Yes, it is aggravating, but I suspect that such matters are out of JP's hands.

Wait, should we be blaming JP for the cold nachos, or is that out of his hands as well? :)

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

It seems really petty that everyone is trying to find a scapegoat for lack of success this year.Fact is they were not good enough to repeat. If you look at the captains they had good years and from what I've heard, led by example.

Another issue was 3 seniors. How many were there last year? I would say that even the guys who are not captains demonstrate leadership. This is a recruiting issue, you need to balance your classes.

I would say that the loss of Quinn was huge, nothing against Buddy, but he was a replacement with far less experience, and experience is what a good instructor uses to critique and design necessary drills.

Goaltending was not as consistent this year, for what reason, it doesn't matter.

Parker, for as much as he is respected, does not motivate like Jerry. Jerry can get the most out of just about every team he coaches.

Incoming classes need to contribute, as do all classes.

There was a multitude of reasons and blaming a few is really doing your school a disservice.

Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

Buddy has a ton of experience, what are you talking about?

He was coaching in college hockey when Quinn was in high school.

He was an assistant at Colgate in the early 80s, then went to Bowling Green (under York) when they won the title. Head coach at RIT, then head coach at RPI then head coach at Bowling Green.

Lets just say, what Buddy Powers lacks is not experience and to say Quinn has more...is not only ludicrous, its stupid.

And if the guys following the team can't tell me what his responsibilities are regarding him replacing Quinn, then we can't blame the defensive follies on him either.

Unfortunately, that may be the problem [as noted by Mookie].

The same thing can be said about Parker, and that's not what stripes said.

If he brought up the age thing, sure. That might be a problem. But it's not a problem for York...Powers is what, 5 years younger than York?

This isn't a question of experience. The team is recruiting well, this class coming in is fantastic...but what's going on once the kids get on campus.

Who'd you hear that from? Because I heard from Jack Parker and Kevin Shattenkirk that the captains were definitely a big part of the problem.

Agreed ... not a question of experience. It can be a plus. Or it could be a minus if a coach can not relate to the players. I asked this a few days ago and have not really seen too much of an answer: what is it that Powers brings to the table? You suggested that the answer is recruiting but I think most of the top guys who have committed for this coming season were first recruited when Quinn was here.

Jerry and Jack are not getting out of the road beating the bushes. that is a job for the asst coaches. Jack doesn't miss a game, Bavo and Quinn (Buddy) do. Jerry doesn't miss a game.

the asst coaches are the main contact for these kids making a decision. this isn't exactly an old man's game to play...

and not only that, but it's not as though Buddy came to BU again right from being on the ground running. he was away from the bench for a bit. last coaching in 2002 and since then had been doing color on BGSU tv broadcasts and managing the ice rink (  ). how many coaches that he spoke with the last time he made recruiting visits were still around?

i'd love to be proven wrong... make me a bone-a-fide innertube blowhard.:p

but until i see bodies walking through the door - the jury is out.

Here's that Biggest Sports Legend bracket I promised. As of when I voted, Parker was tied with Havlicek (no offense to Parker, but I'm not sure how), Eruzione was narrowly trailing Wakefield, and Agganis was getting his *** handed to him by Orr (and rightfully so -- I'm picking Orr to win it all).

there are no more than 6 that beat Hondo. Orr, Russell, Williams,Cousy, Auerbach and Bird. IMO . If there are more that get voted ahead of him then it has to be because the voters don't "get" Havlicek or never saw him OR don't even know who he is. of course, i am biased, he was my idol and i actually even bought the house he lived in in melrose with out knowing that. was there ever a more perfect role model? in that respect, the guy was in a league all by himself and just an incredible athlete and basketball player
