Re: Boston University 2010 Offseason I - The Year after the Year after effect

First, bump, because, well, I'm still struggling with the fact that I'm not supposed to be talking about college hockey right now.

Second: Daily Free Stalker Update: Saw Trivino out on Comm Ave yesterday afternoon with no boot on his ankle. Had no reason to think he wouldn't be healing up fine, but figured I'd share the good news for Terrier Nation.

It's my understanding that everyone will be back for the banquet since no one's in the playoffs, NHL or AHL.

We never play Princeton, do we? ****. I gotta get back to Boston for a game or two next season.

Although Yip got almost 17 min of ice time in the game one win of <strike>BU's Alumni Club</strike> the Avs over the Sharks

Since the only friend I have who has a chance to play BU in any sport (the only D1 athlete who doesn't play football) is on Princeton I would fully support this game.

You going to be there? I'll come by your table to say hi. The Freep has its own table, right?

I'll be there. I don't know if we get our own table. I've never been before. Just look for two college students stuffing their faces as if they haven't eaten in two months -- that's me and BU Hammer. I'd love to meet anyone else who's gonna be there, too.

I have a vague memory of a Princeton game. Anyone?

I have ZERO memories of those Brown games.

How come no Union?

And which Alaska was it anyway? The Seawolves or the Nanooks? (and have we played both?)

I remember playing Princeton at WBA at least once... mid to early 90's.

IIRC, the Princeton game @ WBA was a Sunday afternoon game during Thanksgiving weekend in 1993 -- the day after the legendary football (remember that sport?) playoff game @ Nickerson when BU def. the U. of Northern Iowa Kurt Warners.

The Brown game @ WBA in '97 was a Friday night game in November. I had a work party that afternoon and showed up to the game a little late and a bit tipsy. The best part about that night was after the game @ T's, when Rick Pitino bought me a beer when he & I started chatting @ the bar. The C's had a home game that evening and I was pleasantly surprised by how affable Coach Pitino was.

BU played Princeton fairly often while Toot Cahoon coached the Tigers.

BU played at Princeton over Christmas break in the 90s once. I went down there for that game. I don't recall any games against Brown. That doesn't mean there were none. They just weren't memorable. :)

Bomber - BU played Alaska-Anchorage (the Seawolves) both times. I know this as I traveled to Alaska both times they went up there.

Once again commiting my time to things that really matter.

BU played Princeton 8 times between the '90-'91 and '98-'99 seasons and haven't played each other since.

'90-'91 BU won 7-2 @ Princeton
'92-'93 BU lost 2-3 @ Princeton
'93-'94 BU won 7-3 @ WBA
'94-'95 BU won 6-2 @ GW Freeze Out Semis
'95-'96 BU won 10-2 @ Badger Showdown Semis
'97-'98 BU lost 2-3 @ Princeton
'98-'99 BU won 9-1 @ WBA
'98-'99 BU lost 0-3 @ Mariucci Classic Championship

It would be nice to see BU play at Princeton in the next couple years, but I guess I wont hold my breath.

I'm surprised how many times they actually met in mid-season tourney's in such a short span of time.

Went to the 90-91 win and sat next to the Ronans. Seven different goal-scorers for BU, including Amonte, Tkachuk, Tomlinson and Sacco, and Pratt had the GWG. Besides his goal, Amonte fired a slapper from the faceoff circle that caught the Princeton goalie on the mask, driving it into his chin. Split chin gushed blood, most I've ever seen on the ice in person.

The loss was 97-98 was one of those games where a vastly superior BU team let Princeton hang around and finally pass the Terriers. We've all seen too many of those.

I missed the '90-'91 team by one season as my freshman year was '91-'92. However, I do remember watching part of that crazy '91 National Championship game on ESPN.
