Fed, any update on the reaction of Glass's teammates to his dismissal.

I'll have some more stuff from Parker on it in my preview, but nothing from players. By the time we got done talking to Parker today, the team was already on the ice for practice (none of us could make it after practice like we usually do).

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

Team. Parker's call.

Mad Max forwarded me the email from Coach Parker...

From: Jparker@bu.edu
To: Mnicastro@bu.edu
Date: 1/10/11 13:35 EST
Subject: 1 game suspension

Now Max, how many times have I told you. You take the net off the moorings BEFORE they score the goal. That's not how I taught you. We've built this program's reputation for breaking the rules over the course of many years and you're dishonoring all those who've come before you and donned a BU sweater and shoved the net off the moorings to prevent a goal. You've disgraced our tradition and I'll have none of it. I'm suspending you for one game to think about what you've done. Don't make this mistake again!

Sincerely,

Coach Parker

ps - Danny Spang is an ALL AMERICAN!!!!! Wait, what year is this again?

There won't be a preview now that there's no game, but I just posted some transcripts from our interview with Parker today. Some good stuff on the team not being ready for games, more on the Glass dismissal and Parker's frank assessment of NHL Central Scouting.

Pretty good stuff. If only BC had someone with this type of access to York.

I agree with Parker on the CSS in general, but also think they do their homework and don't just pick these things out of a hat. I have no knowledge of this, but I would think NHL teams compare their notes to what independent scouting services think--just for another perspective.

doesn't bc have a student paper? don't they have someone who covers the team?

Scott: We also asked a little bit more about the dismissal of Andrew Glass. How is the team reacting to it?

Jack Parker: We’ve moved on. They understand that it’s a hard thing for him and they liked him as a player, but they understand why he’s not on the team, too. There’s nobody who’s… we’ve moved on.

I noticed he said "they liked him as a player." Maybe the other players did not like him as a person. Federal League, is that the impression you have received through the last year and a half?

I'm not really close enough to the team to know what the players think of each other as people, but I never got the impression that Glass was some sort of outsider or anything like that.

not that this carries much weight, but i had a class with glassy and two other hockey players and he certainly didn't seem like an outsider then

Is this your way of ratting out three players who got away with actually going to a class??? Next you'll probably report that Sahir Gill went to a Marine Sciences lecture!;)

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

So, as I sit here at home on this snow day I'm watching The Company Men with Ben Affleck, Tommy Lee Jones, Chris Cooper and Craig T. Nelson. It was filmed here, though I don't recall that at all. Anyway, watching a scene at Ben Affleck's character's house. In his basement/office there are a bunch of jerseys framed on the wall. In the background of one scene there is a BU jersey. It was too blurry in the background to see whose jersey it was, but I think it was Travis Roy's. I need to find out whose it was. If anyone knows or can figure it out, please let me know.

So this thread has been quiet for 48+ hours? Maybe all the traffic as gone to the Merrymack and JP-as-Don-Kent threads, but there is a game tomorrow night, so if there's some vow of silence I'm ending it with a couple of questions.

With #7 sitting it out, I assume that Rosen will be back on D with someone else filling in on the fourth line. (Gilroy?) Maybe it doesn't matter much as I don't think we saw much of that line at the Gutt, though it was minus-2 for the night. Any other changes in the offing?

PS for Scarlett: I didn't think Company Men was in the theaters yet. How do you have it at home -- and is it worth a look?

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

Didn't double check when I talked to Parker today, but the plan had been to put MacGregor in the lineup for Tuesday's game against MC, so I'd have to think that'll be the plan Saturday. Parker did say Monday that Gilroy has been knocking on the door for some more playing time with his practice performances. Wouldn't be surprised if he squeaks into the lineup with three games next week, but as for who comes off, I couldn't do any better than speculate and guess Courtnall. But again, that's total speculation.

Re: Boston University 2010-11 part II - The Hunt For Red November

Personally...I'd rather see Gilroy in at forward and Rosen back at D.

I just don't think MacGregor is up to speed yet. I think he'll get there though.

This is really a must have game, isn't it?

My brother is a member of the Writer's Guild so he always gets a bunch of For Your Consideration screeners for awards season. He always brings them home over the Christmas holiday and we all get to watch them.

Is the game tomorrow at 7 or 7:30? Didn't realize it was on TV.
