Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

Didn't hear can't get into college at the Lowell game either. That and the wheels on the bus are two of my favorites. I would highly recommend bringing them back. On the plus side, I enjoyed the return of the alternating "Player, player, player, you suck!" chants. Ole definitely needs to be fixed or killed. I can't even hear it from the press box, and had honestly forgotten about it.

how about Jan 23rd, whenever bobby butler is on the ice, a shower of "boo"'s cascade from 108/118?? 30-40 seconds of "BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!" :p

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

thumbs down to the students last night - many were sitting when we were down 3-2 and the ole-ing is ridiculously bad. either stop it or come up with something new. don't half-*** it in the stands, do it with some heart. and virtually no use of the nascar/cant get into college/wheels chants. someones gotta step up to the plate.

id say these are all valid complaints besides the bolded one. just cuz you like those three chants doesnt mean the students have to. and imo (from 114) the students were very good for the 3rd period and ot, but that only erases one of the two thumbs down they got for the first 2 periods. and how many students even read these forums, im not sure a motivational post about heart will do any good at all.

I've been calling for stuff like this for a year! It doesn't even have to be for any special reason. Just pick a player and boo him every time he touches the puck. Think Bell Centre anytime Chara touches the puck. Or pretty much anywhere anytime Crosby touches the puck.

Well, the leader in 118 and the leader in 108 are both regular posters on here, so that's a start in terms of having ideas heard. I know of at least a handful of other Dog Pound members who at least read these boards, even if they don't post. Most people in 118/108 are followers, not leaders. In theory at least, a strong group of leaders should be able to get the masses to follow along with whatever chants they start.

Edit to add that I am in no way pinning whatever problems the Dog Pound is having on those two posters alone. I realize that they can only do so much. It didn't take me two years in the student section to realize that there are some fans who could not care less about making noise and/or having fun. Can't really fix that.

good thinking!

i brought up an example last year before MC came in... pick their leading scorer or someone (Ouimet at the time.. famous golfing name resonates with mookie;) ;) ) and chant it the whole time he is on the ice.. "WEEEEE-METTTTT.. WEEEE-METTTTT"

well the reason i brought them up is theyve been around for quite some time and in this instance beat silence. i think theyve been solid at times making noise in a big situation, but if we get behind or the game is boring its a bit of a snoozefest.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

I heard from several friends that people (a lot of them) in 118 were booing Colby during the introduction of the starting lineup. I couldn't hear it from the press box, but W-T-F?

I heard nothing like that, and I was in 118, so there is virtually no chance Colby or anyone else with the team heard it. But, I would encourage anyone who did hear it, or does in the future, to explain we are there to support the team as a unified group, not well... do the opposite of that. But I understand some people are non-confrontational so if that's the case just do everything you can to drown them out.

and virtually no use of the nascar/cant get into college/wheels chants.

I had not heard the NASCAR chant until last year. Has that one really been around for a while to?

And one of those chants was done, but apparently almost inaudible outside of the student section.
So even if they have been around for a while if it's not loud when the student section does it why would it not be prudent to consider abandoning them, like Ole's (I don't agree with that line of thinking, just playing devil's advocate)

It didn't take me two years in the student section to realize that there are some fans who could not care less about making noise and/or having fun.

I'd say you're half right: some people don't find constantly making noise fun, so they don't, but this has and will always be true, so it is no excuse.

tired of poking yourself with pins? dripping hot oil on your skin? :p

well i'm maybe four sections off of them and i couldn't hear it - so i hope colby a couple more away from them couldn't either.

the only issue on the ice i had last night was Shattenkirk not bothering to cover his man on the rebound that resulted in the 2nd goal. if Colby could have cleared the puck when he got it on his stick before the 3rd uhn goal that could have been the difference, but he tired to clear it... and that's all one can ask.

Haha, close. I was delaying doing some law school reading. As for Colby trying to clear the puck before the 3rd goal - as he was attempting to clear, a UNH player was holding onto his stick. That's why he was ****ed and smashed his stick on the goal. I personally didn't see this while watching on tv and the brief replay they showed didn't fit that on the screen, but the announcers said he was held (and they weren't Bernie and Tom), so....

BCWH Superfan, I'm not sure why you felt the need to insinuate that Parker went after a UNH player. No one said that, it was clear from the crowd that didn't happen, and the NESN cameras picked up him telling Umilie that Butler said something to him. Nice try, though.

seconded - from where I was sitting it looked like (Thompson?) said something to Parker which caught him off-guard while he was waiting for Umile to meet him at center ice and the conversation progressed to the point where someone had to get in between and restrain parker a bit.

Good... tell the leaders to drop the "BC Sucks" thing from every third cheer... I actually didn't even notice on Saturday... I have a way of blocking it out now... but are they still squeezing "the song' with "BC Sucks" into the drum roll between the "seive" call after we score a goal?

And... it has not seemed to surface in years... but try bringing back the "Give me a T", "Give me an E" cheer in the 3rd period the way that Ogre and the Roachman et al used to do! I remember games in Walter Brown in the early 90's where I swear it sounded like the whole arena was responding to it.

i've tried to suggest this every year forever.... no dice :(

He'll show up every once in a while... Some old farts got on him for trying (their words) to draw attention to himself - he and Jesus. Totally off base in my view, but if you come here to support and talk about the boys - and instead get called out as a clown... Well I'd shy away from posting too...

I mean if one is more recognizable than the average fan there will be some sort of notoriety to go along with the recognition, but at that point you have to take the good with the bad(ie Sasquatch has taken more than his fair share of jabs over the years but doesn't seem to notice). At the same time if you are trying to improve the student section by repeatedly blasting the most recognizable fans... well I don't think that course of action will get your ideas promulgated.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

i was told that Butler commented to Parker about the 'classlessness of his team' and also referred to him as 'Jack'.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

In a related story, I heard from several friends that people (a lot of them) in 118 were booing Colby during the introduction of the starting lineup. I couldn't hear it from the press box, but W-T-F? Really? I think it's disgraceful to boo any individual player on your own team unless they do something along the lines of a Marty McSorley or Todd Bertuzzi. If you wanna boo the whole team for the way they're playing, fine, but why are people singling out Colby? 1) He's actually played very well for the most part this season. 2) HE SCORED THE GAME-WINNING GOAL IN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP LAST YEAR.

i do know that some students choose not to cheer for Colby, as they do not like his attitude or the way he's been playing, but i have not once heard actual boo-ing.

Choosing not to cheer for him is one thing (although I would even question that, seeing as he's been one of the team's 4 or 5 best players this year), but I heard from multiple people that there was actual booing. Again, I couldn't hear it from the press box, so I'm just going off what I was told. If Agganis couldn't hear it from his seat just below the band, I'm willing to bet it was probably just one group of people down low or something, in which case I would suggest that the people around them kindly inform that group to get a freaking clue next they do it.
