Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

That's what I saw. When Pereira left the line, I thought Jack was pulling the whole team out of the line. That would have been bad.

I don't recall if Butler was the one who hit Pereira from behind or if he was involved in the scrum immediately following the final buzzer...

Having said that, I don't know the context behind the Parker-Butler dialogue, but my immediate reaction at the time was that Butler's actions appeared to be disrespectful towards Parker -- talking back to him in as heated a fashion as I observed, and then seeking confrontation in the handshake line. Whatever issues Butler may have had should've been addressed between Parker and Umile, and not by player-to-opposing head coach.

IMO, the non-call on the hit to Pereira was bad and should've been a major. Officiating was, to put it kindly, inconsistent.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

Well I was on the glass that Pereira got destroyed into so I was yelling right away. Gravs just watched it all enfold and didn't bat an eye.

I'd like to get more neutral points of view on the Butler exchange. No idea what went down.

But I hope Beck gets his comeuppance for that cheap shot.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

Not to mention the ridiciulous two hander on Chiasson on his way into the slot with about a minute to play in OT. I hate complaining about refs and I doubt a penalty there would've made a huge difference but anything that could break a player's hand of wrist needs to be called

Sadly Chiasson also stopped playing and complained to the refs instead of keeping his head in the game

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

Didn't see the last play there, but after the awful officiating on Friday night, I don't have much sympathy. (And BU, with UNH on the power play, trying to run out the clock, was taking runs and that led to Desimone's elbow into the glass at the buzz which should have been a penalty if it wasn't, didn't see the box score). There's a reason BU averages 17 PIM's a game, they're undiciplined. Of course UNH's power play is atrocious, so it didn't hurt other than the 5 on 3 on Fri....

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

Lowell is the only team in Hockey East that didn't score 3 goals (and only 3 goals) last night. Wacky.

Bad officiating or not, it's time for Parker to sit guys for taking dumb penalties.

The penalty before Trivino's tying goal was a gift.

When does Nick score his 1st goal? Raise of hands who thought there was a real chance we'd hit December before that happened? I know he was hurt, but still...

Postgame transcripts from Parker, Saponari, Warsofsky, Umile and Thompson are all up on the blog now.

Just like his Coach. This has to be one of the saddest defenses of a title in mmeory so far. Embarassing

You must be happy as a pig in **** these days, huh Jofa? I mean, they actually delivered on absolutely everything last season, winning a national championship in epic fashion, thereby making your negativity about the program and utter dislike of Coach Parker seem a bit ridiculous. And now they are struggling so it's kinda a like vindication for you, I'm assuming. Or an early Christmas present.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

I just watched the replay on NESN. As far as I could tell with what was visible on screen, there was no reason Periera got sent to the locker room. He didn't even look like he was speaking to anyone when a ref came over, tapped him on the chest and pointed to the locker room. I could see Parker and Butler talking, neither of them seemed very animated. Umilie shook Parker's hand and you could see Parker saying something like "He said something to me."

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

Does anyone know why Saponari's goal was reviewed? No question it was in the net; there was no BU player near the crease.
Was the postgame center ice meeting between JP and DU tense or not? I've read/heard conflicting reports?

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

Shattenkirk and C Cohen both have not played as well this year as they did last year.

 Aside from the last second of the last game of the season, when did Colby Cohen ever play well last year?

All in all this is the most complete effort I've seen out of BU this year. Still no cohesion out there with the offense but they looked a bit better. As far as penalties go, I'm numb to stupid ref calls after all this years, so whatever.

Re: Colby Cohen

My personal opinion is that he has shown tremendous improvement from last season to this season.

In a related story, I heard from several friends that people (a lot of them) in 118 were booing Colby during the introduction of the starting lineup. I couldn't hear it from the press box, but W-T-F? Really? I think it's disgraceful to boo any individual player on your own team unless they do something along the lines of a Marty McSorley or Todd Bertuzzi. If you wanna boo the whole team for the way they're playing, fine, but why are people singling out Colby? 1) He's actually played very well for the most part this season. 2) HE SCORED THE GAME-WINNING GOAL IN THE NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP LAST YEAR.

I just hope that this was not any sort of organized effort on behalf of the Dog Pound, and I would hope that those who partook in it were promptly told to S-T-F-U or leave.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread Part the One

I'm not sure if you consider my POV to be neutral or not, but I thought UNH was being excessively chippy all game and got away with a few things that should have been called, including the slash to Chiasson and that late big hit on Periera(?). That said it was classless of Parker to berate an opposing player and interrupt what's supposed to be a gentlemanly handshake line.

So there's blame to go around.

I also thought it was one of the better performances I've seen in my times watching BU this year. They're about a month away from really coming together but they'll be okay once they're healthy.

tired of poking yourself with pins? dripping hot oil on your skin? :p

well i'm maybe four sections off of them and i couldn't hear it - so i hope colby a couple more away from them couldn't either.

the only issue on the ice i had last night was Shattenkirk not bothering to cover his man on the rebound that resulted in the 2nd goal. if Colby could have cleared the puck when he got it on his stick before the 3rd uhn goal that could have been the difference, but he tired to clear it... and that's all one can ask.

i was right next to them and heard nothing. thumbs down to the students last night - many were sitting when we were down 3-2 and the ole-ing is ridiculously bad. either stop it or come up with something new. don't half-*** it in the stands, do it with some heart. and virtually no use of the nascar/cant get into college/wheels chants. someones gotta step up to the plate.

that rebound rollie let up was terrible on goal #2. sure, shatty didnt cover his man, but that rebound can't be going there.

that was a quick 2x2 where the uhn guy took a very hard shot inside the dot of the rw circle, probably 15ft max. it was a hard shot close, on a rush, spot on. he made the save. at that point your ONLY job is to stop the puck from going behind you. sure, there are a lot of shots that can be directed away, but then there are some that you just need to stop. THAT is where you need teammates to help out and clear stuff, cover opponents, etc.

that was one of those times.

it is a team game.

if we are going to rely on KM and Rollie to just steer every shot into the corner, then maybe we can skate 5 forwards and start scoring some goals. ;)

The puck bounced out in a way that it might have been seen by the zebras as hitting the post and coming out. Worth a look, I guess, but there was no doubt from us watching on TV it was a goal. I have a hard time believing that any convo b/w JP and DU is tense. They're great friends, and have been through the battles for 20+ years as opposing coaches... at this point, what tention could there be? :)

I thought last night was a much better game from both teams than Friday night, and deservedly ended in a tie. Good luck moving forward!

Didn't hear can't get into college at the Lowell game either. That and the wheels on the bus are two of my favorites. I would highly recommend bringing them back. On the plus side, I enjoyed the return of the alternating "Player, player, player, you suck!" chants. Ole definitely needs to be fixed or killed. I can't even hear it from the press box, and had honestly forgotten about it.
