I assume you disagree. Care to name five players who have been better? I would say Shatty and Connolly are the only two clear choices. Maybe Trivino or Chiasson. Possibly Warso, although he's missed three games. Once you get past that, it's pretty slim pickings.

Uh, Shatty has been terrible at times this season. Flat out terrible. Trivino is not even a consideration, he's been a ghost, and Chiasson is probably the choice for best overall player, maybr Warso or Connolly.

Not sure if anybody is still interested or I am just beating a dead horse, but I spoke with someone who was a part of the handshake line (UNH side) and gave a completely different report about it than what has been speculated in this thread. I'm sure a BU perspective would be different, but he told me that a certain BU freshman forward was saying stuff to each UNH player, so one of the UNH freshman forwards grabbed him. He wasn't sure what was said between Parker and Butler/Umile.

I'm one of Fed League's cohorts at the Daily Free Press on the hockey beat. Been reading these boards for a while now, just finally signed up last week (and of course it took about a week to get my username approved...)

Anyway, I was at practice today, and witnessed my first, first-hand Jack Parker tirade at the end of the session. For anybody who thought Parker stopped yelling in the 90s, rest assured, the man still has one hell of a voice box (and a vocabulary fit for the UMass fan section).

More details on what was said, etc., to come in tomorrow's Freep (gotta drive traffic to the blog somehow, right??? :D ), but expect to see either a max effort Tuesday or quite a few healthy scratches at MSG on Saturday.

Welcome, thanks for the info. it's worth noting that some on here have gotten a little aggravated by previous and current posters who use the "I have information but i'll tell you later when I decide to tell/publish it" line. I will say we really appreciate the info, and FL has (unfortunately) provided a lot of up to date info this year on injuries and the like.

Thanks for the heads up. I'll try to avoid playing the tease card. I figured arriving on the boards with some info to share was better than showing up empty handed :) .

It's been a full day and not one mention of this on here?

http://sports.espn.go.com/boston/ncf/news/story?id=4681701

Anyone care to wager a guess as to whether the Dog House will be smart enough to adapt on the fly and remove "BU Football!" from their cheer repertoire at the Beanpot this year?

Not sure where you looked but there was mention in the NU thread, in the Cafe there's an entire thread about it and there was also mention of it in the College Football thread.

adapt on the fly

not something they do well. they only walked right into the same flipping burgers multiple times over different seasons, or when they got pwned last year at the beanpot by my friend's sign barrage of "Palin got into NU", McDonalds arches that detached and turned into "NU", "Paws was rejected by Mike Vick", and finally 4 foot tall Stan's Dad from South Park face with "You Got Served" all in a row, followed by silence from the black corner of the balcony.

there, we made fun of northeastern on the day they axed the football team. the sun also came up today.

edit: see students, more than one or two people currently in the section should be coming up with creative and fun signs that even the Blue Shirts can't take away!

Everyone on this team has been terrible at times this season.

It's much more noticeable when you're on the first defense pair even strength, power play, and often penalty kill. And when you're the captain and should be leading by example. Much of the team has either face a huge jump in their role, but Shattenkirk simply needs to do the things he did well last year, but he's trying to do too much and it shows. You're right that everyone has struggled at times, and Shatty's offensive contributions are definitely helping as he leads the team in that department, but his defensive work has been suspect.

but his defensive work has been suspect.

I think that problem's starting to fix itself. He's been much better the last couple games. Plus, just because his struggles are more noticeable, that doesn't mean he hasn't been one of the best players. There's a difference between expectations and results. Other players may be doing a better job of meeting or exceeding expectations, but I would argue that Shatty has still produced better results than nearly everyone on this team, even if fans expect more out of him.

if it wasn't for the play of #'s 3 & 25 so far this year we'd be in far worse shape. this is not even debatable.

(and yes, 0-11-0 is worse than 3-7-1 :p )

FWIW, I think this may be the first week the BU women have been ranked but not the men. Also, FWIW, when's the last time BU never received a vote in either poll?

Since I believe the first time the women were ranked was last year, yes. As for last time the men didn't receive votes: February 11th 2008.

You're right Agganis. Women were ranked for the first time last October after knocking off UNH and Mercyhurst and tying St. Lawrence.

What I never did find out was when the last time BU and UNH squared off while neither team was ranked? A bunch of people were asking around at the game Friday, and I don't think anybody came up with an answer.

All threads I would never, ever consider gracing with my presence.

Please. That Fidel Nicastro's been playing better hockey than him, especially when you consider he's a freshman.

What's happening with Cohen is the same thing that happened with Tom Morrow. He went from making 10 stupid plays a game costing the team 2 goals to 7 stupid plays costing the team 1 goal a game. Because of this, some idiots were out here saying he was a good defenseman. He wasn't, he was still awful, just less awful. Same thing here. I fail to see how Cohen's even playing better than Gryba - the difference is Gryba's play is the same, while Cohen's has gone from putrid Jeff Kealty levels to just run of the mill bad.
