Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread III: From the Beanpot until the end...

The thing is, I didn't think they played poorly last night. They definitely played better than they did in the January game down there.

Well they scraped out a win tonight. It was close but BU showed toughness and moxie throughout.

Let's hope for the same effort the rest of the way.

All I ask is that they care as much as we do...

As an aside:

I bumped into M. Gilroy and Yip tonight. They were sitting in the top of 101 with Mr. and Ms. Gilroy, not in the alumni box (about 5 rows up from my seats). Fans were coming up to them and getting pics taken, autographs, shaking hands, hugging, and that sort of thing. The two guys seemed to be enjoying it and were free with their time. They were both down to Earth and classy IMHO. I hope they don't change or forget where they came from. Good stuff all around.

Yip is a confident guy but not in a jerk way and Matty recognized me in LA (and saw my NC hat) and threw me a puck at the LAK/NYR game earlier this month.

It makes it even easier to root for them.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread III: From the Beanpot until the end...

When are we supposed to start caring about the pwr? Its Feb. It's time to start caring when you have 4 regular season games left.

But now, its all about winning the HE tourney. Every game left is a play-off game.

I say that because I remember the 07-08 season where we made our run and everyone was coming up with miracle scenarios where BU could still get to the NCAA. It seemed like a waste of time. I know PWR can change a lot but I do not see this team getting an at large bid. HE playoffs are more important right now.

Dude, talking on message boards IS a waste of time. Somehow talking on a message board about insane scenarios where we could make the tourney is a bigger waste of time? :D

Parker, Glass and Z Cohen transcripts are up on the blog.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread III: From the Beanpot until the end...

A few things.

I was very impressed with Andrew Glass. He certainly played like a kid that knew this may be his last chance to prove to the coaching staff that he belongs out there. He was racing around like his jock was on fire. I really wish he had gotten that last great rush to go. Sweet play.

The team is playing hard. Not always well, but hard.

I too loved the Hobey video. And I'm sure Matt got a kick out of seeing the two kids in 118 with his Rangers' jersey on.

More hockey tonght. Go USA!

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread III: From the Beanpot until the end...

The battery on my Blackberry died at the start of the third period. Maybe it was a sign that I should stop posting during games since the team scored after I put it away.

Anyway - any word on Megan? Did he not play because he was hurt? I thought on Friday it looked like he got hurt after hit. Or was he a healthy scratch?

He was sick. Assuming it's nothing more than a stomach bug, he should be back for UVM. Parker said Glass will remain in the lineup regardless.

Courtnall will be the odd man out. No 4th line in the 3rd last night. Will that be the MO from here on out?

If they're tied or trailing, probably. The 4th line can defend, so if they're up I'd imagine they'd still get regular ice time. Also depends on the opponent's style. Parker mentioned that puck possession was easy against PC because of the way they defend. BU could get away with 3 lines because they had the puck a lot and weren't doing a lot of back-and-forth skating. If they were, obviously those 9 players would need some more rest.

why sit courtnall? at least hes a physical presence on the 4th line. kilroy has been a ghost and contributes very little besides some average skating.

Re: Boston University 2009-2010 Season Thread III: From the Beanpot until the end...

All:

My name is Alex Greer. I'm a hockey player, but also a person with a heart (well, sort of) and feelings. I thought I'd take this opportunity to clear the air of some of the weird rumors flying around these boards, and offer an apology to all BU fans.

First off, I'm not 6'3", I stand at 3'6". The grammatically challenged Miss Antioch also appears to suffer from a debilitating case of dyslexia. So, I'm not sure "Power Forward" would appropriately categorize the type of game I play. Vertical challenge has limited my options on the ice. Case in point, I took a face-off as a center a couple years ago and was mistaken for the puck by the opposition. A compassionate referee blew the whistle ending play, but not after I was passed around a few times... For some reason they insisted on making indirect passes off the boards. Oh well. I'd say I'm more of a sneaky winger. My patented move is called the Five-Hole Surprise: I literally skate through the goalie's five-hole and put the cookie in the cookie jar.

My stature, speed, and playing style has drawn attention from one school: Boston College. And here is where I owe Terrier Nation an apology. I've never been on Jack Parker's radar. Cross-eyed Claire got that one wrong, too. BC is where I'll be playing someday. And truth be told, I think that's where I'll be happiest: With my fellow midget whirling dervishes. So to Dookie, To Be Announced, Starlet, Range Rover, National League, Slushees, Butt-Error, Candy Land, David St Catherine, Rogie Over and Out, Brian Sentry Gun, Shredder, BU Phlam, Todd English and the countless other Terrier fans, I'm sorry. To Shteve F, Nick Mammas and the Papas, Carmen Electra, BC Superfan Mary and Joseph, Terry the Turtle, and all the other loyal, imperious, elitist members of message board high society, here I come. But there is a matter that needs resolving first...

...And that's my heart. It's been alleged that I suffer from Hypertrophic Cardiomyopathy. Nothing could be further from the truth. There is nothing physically wrong with my heart. The fact is, folks, I fell in love with the equipment manager of my junior team and she broke my heart. She left me for the guy that played Miles Finch in Elf.

Until we meet again, Terrier Nation, I wish you way more than luck.
