Boston College Women's Hockey - 2012-2013 Season Thread

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey - 2012-2013 Season Thread

Emily Fields goes end to end in OT and dangles past two D before going top shelf for the 4-3 win.
I'll give you one. The second D and the first backchecker just passively watched rather than getting involved. Not sure what the philosophy is there.

Even aside from the fact that the end of the game was SO INCREDIBLY AWESOME, that was a great game all around by two really good teams.

Completely agree though I would have been happier with it if Cornell could have held the lead for 50 more seconds in the third. :(

Congrats to BC on a well earned victory.

I heard Cornell had several players not make the trip to Boston due to illness and a couple that did go were still not 100%. I believe the second D in question was one of those players. Not sure if that factored into her hanging back, or she may have just thought the first D had Field covered. Cornell typically would have two players attacking the puck carrier. At any rate, Field muscled through and had a lazer of a shot.

Agreed that it was a great effort by Field. Defensively, a team hates to give up such a quality chance from a 1-on-3. I can't imagine that is how they draw it up in the film room.

Anyway, congrats to the Eagles on a big win that will have home-ice ramifications.

Thanks for the video it is interesting to see how the same things are viewed differently.
When I saw the video that is what I thought , no dangling just powered around one d and a great shot. A backcheck that coulda/shoulda been and maybe a second d not wanting to screen the goalie. Anyhow I wondered how long it would be before the flu starts hitting teams lineups. Hope teams can stay reasonably healthy.

congrats to the eagles for not only a substantive win over Cornell on Sunday but also Clarkson earlier in the month. regardless how you look at it, they are "W's" and another indicator that the eagles are in the discussion of top teams in the country. looking forward to seeing the ladies continue their streak as they prepare for a very meaninful beanpot tourny (can you say harvard) as well as HE and NCAA's. Congrats on a great year thus far; still more to be done.

go bc.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey - 2012-2013 Season Thread

I would just like to say that I've never been so confident of a win going into a game against a ranked opponent. BC will roll again tonight.

Go figure. LOL. BC dominated the crap out of Mercyhurst and finally managed to beat ourselves with penalties. It's about time those asinine penalties came back to haunt us.

Dumb.

Sad...maybe credit should be given when due...Mercyhurst played this weekend with nearly the entire team ill with the flu

Mercyhurst fans could not more proud of the entire team that laid everything they had on the line to come up with the win

AWESOME WORK LADY LAKERS!!

While some chose to blame penalties for the BC loss, an alternate theory is that some doofus injected bad karma into the mix ...

When I saw Grant's 'proclamation of supreme confidence' earlier today, I was going to say something about the 'kiss of death'...guess I just had to think it. :)

Interesting comment given the following quote from this week's "Picks" feature on USCHO.COM:

"Arlan: Lakers can’t afford to lose, but BC never does. Boston College 3-2, 5-3"

:p

Love ya ARM, but this one I just couldn't pass up!

Wow someone deleted my post? Seriously? I'll be sure to temper my posts with all the love and sensitivity necessary for a "women's" forum from now on.

I just love ol' Mercyhurst! I think they're super duper, guys! Hugs & kisses all around!

Wishing all the best for the Eagles the rest of the year. Maybe they can keep up the 5 man defense to cover for their goal tender and best wishes to Skarupa to recover from her dislocated shoulder

WHOA what?

I thought she looked invisible Saturday but I thought it was just the grainy America One feed. Clearly it was actually because she didn't play.

How long a timeframe are we looking at here?

I don't know...They fly out of Pittsburgh today headed back to Boston...likely will go through the xray...MRI process before they determine if there is any damage and if so how extensive
