Boston College Women's Hockey - 2012-2013 Season Thread

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey - 2012-2013 Season Thread

She's from Maryland (and won a state title with her brother for Wooton HS her freshman yr). Unless you want to play for D-III startup Stevenson, there are not a heck of a lot of collegiate options in the Fee State.

Ohhh okay. I misread and thought she was from the .... (trying to remember the name of the region Clarkson and St. Lawrence are in... it will come to me .... Nope, not coming to me.)

How'd Skarupa get away? She's been a game-changer for BC, a huge reason why they're so deep offensively.

Hmmmm....where do the U18 kids go? And she is best buds with Miss Carpenter.

Answer: The North Country. (Ironic from my perspective, as I live directly North of "The North Country" and our area is considered part of Southern Ontario).

I live in Minnesota and always find it a bit amusing how people here in the south central part of the state go all gaga about the northern part of the state and how it is so remote and cold and so very far from civilization.

The part of the state these people are carrying on about is quite a bit south of Winnipeg and Thunder Bay, just to mention a couple of middling size cities.

North of Toronto though.

Ha. Leah Sulyma can say she lives in the north country. Everyone but Santa and the Elves are southerners for her. ;o)

I didn't see where Boston University has it's own team thread, so I thought I would share the love and post this GREAT ARTICLE here, figuring they're both Boston schools and would have universal support in the community.

"The Terriers needed an extra-attacker goal with eight seconds remaining to force overtime, where they won on a second goal by Jenn Wakefield 2:15 into the second extra session."

The goal was actually scored by Poulin, on a shot from the right circle. Wakefield never touched the puck.

Now that you mention it, I have a vague recollection of something like that. However, nine months later if the box score says Wakefield, then it is officially her goal now.

Stop the flash backs it is to painful!

Twice, I came to St. Cloud for the New Year's Showcase, and both years I froze my *** off. Somewhere in the annals of this board, I remember recording notes of my trip. And to think that St. Cloud is only about halfway up.....ugh! I think that's about as far as I might ever want to go....I may never see places like Brainerd, Bemidji, Thunder Bay, and I'm just fine with it!

Gets cold here in New England, but there's cold, and then there's ******** COLD!

Reminds me of the story your buddy keeps telling me about the trip up to Montreal with a team from Bean Town, and that when they got out of the car after a 5 hour ride they thought they had landed on the North Pole it was that bitter. You might have been on that trip, as his D and your D used to play together.

P.S.....Today we should all say our prayers and hope our children are safe. Have many friends from the CT area. My thoughts are with them.

M

Watched me a little Gopher men's hockey last night.

 :D

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey - 2012-2013 Season Thread

Nice work by your boys. Always enjoyable to play the Gophers, despite the venom I hurled at them during the game. I only wish I was able to make a return to the crown jewel of college hockey arenas, but I don't think the wife would have approved. I'm planning on making the trip 2 years from now.

Looking forward to meeting up again in Pittsburgh.

In other news... words cannot sufficiently describe how excited I am for this game against Clarkson tomorrow
