Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Re: Fire Kingedy?

Re: Fire Kingedy?

No need for glaze. King does an excellent job of bringing in top players. King does an an equally ****ty job at making anything come of that. You can have "one, two, three or more" top players and it doesn't mean anything if you have no strategy and clearly she has no formidable strategy. She has/had plenty of "top players"to work with these past few games (and seasons, etc).
I'll stop short of simply saying "THIS", LOL, but I do think there's a little truth here. I saw several BC games last year, and I knew most of the newer players from their pre-college days. To me, each one of these was girls was clearly giving their best all out individual effort, but there was definitely a lack of chemistry. If that's the case again this season, then maybe, just maybe, RStarr isn't as whack as we all think she is?

Re: Fire Kingedy?

Subjectively, that would make your opinion of my opinion equally worthless as you don't know me and really have no idea what I've seen.
I'm calling you out. I'm saying you haven't seen ****.
Furthermore, my argument contains objective criteria.
Box scores, maybe.
BC plays better with Molly in net.
Based on what? That they win more games? I will refer you to my previous post regarding the fact that she is the best goalie in the country. I sure hope they'd win more games.
Under King, BC has lacked strategy.
Seriously, what are you basing this on? You have some problem with Kinger and Kennedy and take every chance you get to rip on them for... what, specifically, I don't know, since you don't ever see the result of their coaching firsthand.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

I have higher expectations for this (and past) BC teams. I don't wanna hear how we should have to sit out a weekend at the risk of losing because we are missing one (very good) goalie, and one other (good) frosh, when we have a team loaded with talent. King has completely underwhelmed me as a coach. I'm not gonna apologize or feel bad for calling her out. I absolutely support this team and the girls. I don't expect them to win every game. What I would like to see is adaptability, consistency, strategy (there's that darn word again ), etc.

If I said I wasn't worried about post Schaus era, I'd be 100% lying. King hasn't given me any reason not to be.

I'm calling you out.

I have enjoyed what I've seen this season though. I want Schaus to win the title so bad...crossing my fingers for Erie.

There was also a distinct Lack-O-Stack. We made the national tournament the last time Schaus and Stack were on the team and came a scrum in front of the net away from beating the Gophers in their own house to get to the Frozen Four. And Kingeddy was coaching.

No, I would say last year they just didn't have it. I don't think it had anything to do with Kingeddy. It was just a rough year where we lost, without question, THE two incomparable* weapons we had.

*Speaking of incomparable ones... THE INCOMPARABLE JACKIE THODE is playing pro hockey in, I believe, Austria. Fun fact.

I don't have to convince you of anything. King does. :)
Serious question, and I wonder if you can give a serious answer: Roughly have many BCWH games have you personally gone to and watched since Kinger took over?

I'm gonna have to say roughly one. no. no, actually closer to zero.

I don't mind King. Respectable player, ability to attract high caliber players to a sweet school, national team connections, etc, etc...think she would make the perfect assistant coach. Hell, I might even say co-head coach, but that's clearly not working well over in Potsdam land(:()

now. would you believe that I am sitting on my bedroom floor eating two sandwiched blueberry toaster struddles that terrierbyassociation would tell you contained some sort of animal product and therefore contraband for a self proclaimed vegehead such as myself?

With a nod to your staunch support of the Eagles, that is an opinion, not a fact. Maybe she is, but look around the country -- there are some great goalies out there. Schaus should put up some impressive numbers, because outside of BU, HEA doesn't seem to be loaded offensively this year, but I can think of at least a half dozen who belong in the discussion.

I don't wanna hear how we should have to sit out a weekend at the risk of losing because we are missing one (very good) goalie, and one other (good) frosh, when we have a team loaded with talent.
It takes teams about one season of getting burned with unexpected losses/ties during 4 Nations weekend to start erring on the side of caution in scheduling a bye in the future. The gap between the top and bottom teams has shrunk to the point that you can't be 95 % sure of a win against anyone once you subtract one, two, or more top players.

We made the national tournament the last time Schaus and Stack were on the team and came a scrum in front of the net away from beating the Gophers in their own house to get to the Frozen Four.
I'll give you a tie, but unless you saw some "two-goal scrum", I'd have to question beating. Sure, BC would have had the momentum, but so did Clarkson at the end of regulation in last year's NCAA. And as far as some strategy by King, BC looked dead in the water halfway through that game until an unwise major/game-misconduct changed everything.

I do appreciate that the two of you were able to argue back and forth and stick to disagreeing about hockey, rather than the "Oh, huh! YOU are a dummy!" quality debates we get too often.

Don't underestimate the loss of Mangene for those games. She's the real deal and is one of the best D-men on the team already.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

She was once my daughter's teammate. A terrific honor for an outstanding young lady. Congratulations, and best of luck with the final decision!
I can't believe she is a senior already. gahhh. and she's pretty too.
