Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

I'll give you the 6-0-2, but UConn is 1-7-1 thus far, including getting outscored 19-1 by Syracuse and UMD over a 3 game stretch. You've done a nice job beating the teams you should beat in general, but the UConn tie is a poor result.
I straight up did not know that... haha

I'm guilty of assuming their past success carried over I suppose.

No idea what is going on there; maybe the impact of graduated players like Binning, Allen, and Hollstein went beyond the numbers. Let's see if they come on as the season progresses.

Sucks. Got there late. Had my backpack from school with me. They said I couldn't go in with the bag so I left.

Common sense needs to reign... Who wants to smuggle illegal items into a women's game?

In these times, apparently there is a great need for security..or protecting the sales at the concession stand. Ran into the same situation myself...

You'd think that with the staff to spectator ratio at 1:1, they would take the time to go through the bag to assure themselves no contraband enters the building. Men, it's time to start using a pocketbook - you can take that anywhere, and some are so big, you probably increase storage space:)

Totally ridiculous and alarming. The same security guard types search tens of thousands of fans into much larger venues each evening and on weekends at professional and collegiate events. Your absence from the game did distort the home vs visitor fan ratio signficantly as only 10 people actually attend these games.

I would like to commend NU with the best internet video coverage that I've seen. Awesome video and camera work supplemented with instant replay and period highlights. Topped off with some pretty good commentating, it was a first rate operation and many schools should take note of the service that NU provides.

From a game perspective, although the final shots on goal indicated that NU outshot BC, it seemed to me that BC really outplayed NU; particularly in the 2nd and 3rd periods. BC displayed more overall speed, depth and passing skills the tilted the ice to their advantage. The game was a good test of two good teams and it was clear that BC had the upper hand on this night.

The game on Sunday vs Vermont will provide BC the opportunity to play without two of its leaders (Schaus and Mangene). BC has played it's best when leveraging their speed and forecheck which at times has resulted in odd man rushes for their opponents. BC seems to be comfortable with this approach with Schaus in net, will see how it works out with others in goal.

Go BC.

Kingston will be fine.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Are you on Twitter? I sent this a little while ago: Dear @BCSportsNews You sent 34 tweets re: football, 5 re: MBB (exhib) yesterday, please send 3 (1/period) re Hockey East's #1 WIH team

If they don't send any, call them out on it. It is beyond tacky in my opinion (and not just because the women are so successful, but that removes any excuse they might make).

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

agree that kingston is solid, was not trying to intimate otherwise. i was trying to share that the team plays very agressively; particularly the defense when schaus is between the pipes. the question is will the team play as aggressively with kingston between the pipes as aggressiveness has been a key to their success. will find out soon.
Absolutely. Kingston is solid.

never mind. picture has come through loud and clear. congrats to the eagles for providing this service. now the team needs to respond as they are down 1 - 0 after one.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Not sure exactly what happened. Thought BC did outplay VT as indicated by the shots on goal and the play seemed to be more in the VT end. Just unable to finish and the VT goalie had a very good game. BC just did not seem to have the spark that they had in prior games. Thank goodness Stack was in uniform as without her the score may have been different.

On another note, a BIG THANK YOU to BC Sports for arranging to have the BC women's hockey games available on the Internet. Camera work was good (perhaps show the scoreboard once in a while) and the quality was excellent. It's a big plus to those of us that are unable to make every game in person.
We *tied* Vermont? What the heck?
