Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

i agree about the jinx. it never fails. even before the article came out, my thought was that it would be very difficult to travel all the way to st. lawrence without two stud players and take on a very feisty team. i predict a split this weekend; although am hoping for a bc split.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

should have taken the weekend off like other schools did. ridiculous to play on the road with key players absent due to 4 nations cup. look what happened to bu and others thus far. need to chalk it up to a scrimmage.

See? Seriously, what kind of moron makes that a headline?

BU will actually play 4 games without their "top 3" - they won the first two and tied Vermont (which I believe BC did as well even with all players ;) ). Vermont is just one of those tricky Hockey East teams that you better play your best against or else.

I actually think it is good for these top teams to play even if they don't have a full team. You can't be overly reliant on 1 or 2 players, otherwise you get complacent.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

good thought and probably has some merit regarding the need to develop more depth, but not exactly accurate. bc defeated vermont twice with the full roster and tied vermont last weekend minus the two players participating in the 4 Nations Cup. Doesn't seem like 1 or 2 players should make such a big difference, but when you take a look around all of Div 1, there are some big surprises when key players are not in the line up. Thus, my point was that it might be best to reduce the short term pain and just schedule an Open weekend during these events. It's a pretty long season, so it all works out in the end.

To the person who posrepped me saying that Kingston is not a big game goalie and can't handle the pressure...

I won't call you out, even though you left your username, but... what? Is that you, Wilcox?

Remember when she broke her stick over her head? Talk about not being able to handle the pressure.

And yes, I totally just used this opportunity to make fun of Wilcox (sieve), completely unprovoked. So sue me.

Who else was missing besides Molly?

Are we turning this into a Brown thread where everything is a fuzzy fantasy?

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

both mehgan mangene and molly schaus missed this weekend's games at slu and the vermont game the prior week.
So two players and one of them is a frosh? In other words, Molly is the team (suprise!). BC always plays crappy without her between the pipes. And it doesnt really matter what kind of girls are being recruited if King can't get her crap together (suprise again!).

Nice to see the old RStarr back.

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Really does not matter if its one, two or three or more. Each team that lost players to the Four Nations Cup event really struggled over the past two weeks. Some more than others. Some teams took this weekend off and that seems to have been the best thing to do versus playing shorthanded; particularly on the road.

Regarding Molly, she is pretty spectacular and has earned her accolades as well as her presence on the team. Not sure the team actually plays any better when she is between the pipes, but since she seems to stop most everything; it certainly generates very postive results in the win column. Regarding King, seems like she has some pretty good talent and they seem to do a pretty good job of winning when they have some of their top players.

Missing two players, one being Molly, and the other being a frosh, isn't "playing shorthanded" unless your team is, well, Molly. BC should have better results with the remaining players they had. I am not surprised by the results and I doubt anyone who has followed this team for more than a season was either. I almost responded to your earlier remarks questioning how the team would hold up without Molly as its just too predictable. And I'm not comparing BC to anybody but BC.

The past performances speak for themselves. BC has no confidence without her.

No need for glaze. King does an excellent job of bringing in top players. King does an an equally ****ty job at making anything come of that. You can have "one, two, three or more" top players and it doesn't mean anything if you have no strategy and clearly she has no formidable strategy. She has/had plenty of "top players"to work with these past few games (and seasons, etc).

I find this funny coming from someone who has gone to fewer BC games over the last few years than probably anyone who has posted in this thread, including ARM who has probably seen the 3 games BC has played against the Gophers in Minneapolis.

I'm saying your opinions regarding the abilities of the players and coaches are pretty worthless as you never see any BCWH games.

And I have no idea if what you're saying is true or not because I'm not even sure what you're trying to say. Am I surprised by the results at SLU? I wouldn't say surprised, I would say I expected a split at least given how poorly SLU has been playing, but given the parity in women's hockey over the last couple years, it doesn't really surprise me that they could drop a series with their best-college-goalie-in-the-nation and national-caliber freshman not making the trip.

Subjectively, that would make your opinion of my opinion equally worthless as you don't know me and really have no idea what I've seen. Furthermore, my argument contains objective criteria.
And I have no idea if what you're saying is true or not because I'm not even sure what you're trying to say.
BC has (and has had) more than just one to two top players.
BC plays better with Molly in net.
Under King, BC has lacked strategy.

....which makes for just a lil' frustration. no?
