Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

For what it is worth, Princeton has 1 player participating in the Holiday Camp. Any thoughts??
Yeah, my thought is: If you were Princeton, would YOU invite BC to play against you with 5 extra world class players?

Yeah, no.

Does anyone know if BC has recruited a goaltender for next year? Thank you!

Re: Boston College Women's Hockey 2010-2011: Schaus In Da Haus

My understanding from following this board is that BC has several high quality goaltenders either already in the program or committed to the program including Kingston (on roster), Boyles (played last year as a frosh and redshirted this year) and a future incoming goaltender from Chicago area (thought her name was Miller, but am probably mistaken). Not sure of others in the pipeline, but unfortunately you can only use one at a time.

All in all, a good season so far at the break. Hoping that someone steps up and becomes a more consistent scoring threat behind Stack - I think Bizzari has great potential.

Vell, I realize that this is being real late to the party and as such, a little off topic by being somewhat irrelevant but I have to make a comment. After reading your praises of her for the last few years but never having seen her play until last night, I've now watched two games in which Allie Thunstrom played. I'm totally impressed. Her speed, ability and work ethic caused her to stand head and shoulders above virtually everyone else on the ice. Amazing...a real pleasure to watch.

Yeah, she was beast. Nice to see she's still playing hockey. The Whitecaps are undefeated... I'm sure she's a big reason for that - 8 goals in 5 games: most goals in the league

Allie was one of the fastest players to ever come through BC.

BC Coaches should take note. With 5 players missing to the USA Hockey Holiday Camp, others ill and others just getting back to campus due to weather related travel woes, does not seem like there is any way they can be prepared for Friday's game versus Princeton. The precedent was set earlier in the year with WCHA teams and now in their own conference.

BURLINGTON, Vt. – University of Vermont Associate Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Robert Corran announced on Tuesday that the UVM women's hockey game against Dartmouth scheduled for Wednesday (Dec. 29) at 5 p.m. has been postponed due to a number of student-athletes absent due to travel difficulties and inclement weather in the region.

That would be *awesome*.

Unfortunately for BC fans, this game took place minus the 5 players and the outcome was as expected; a 3-0 loss to Princeton. Hats off to Princeton for playing a fine game. Generally speaking it was a tight game with Princeton capitalizing on their opportunities while BC failed on theirs (seemed very similar to the 2009-2010 season). As previously mentioned, really have to wonder why a game was played under these conditions knowing 5 weeks in advance that 5 players would be missing. Simply shifting the game 24 or 48 hours would have accomodated all. Let's see if BC can rebound against Yale on Monday or if their Holiday Camp hangover continues.

Go BC.

Re: Fire Kingedy?

The remaining players need to step up to the plate when 5 players are missing. BC has lots of talent on their team even without those 5 players. NO excuse for having to change games. It gives the players and coaches the opportunity to see that they shouldn't always have in the back of their minds that Molly and company will save the day.

Re: Fire Kingedy?

it's certainly a point of view, but take agosta and 4 others off of mercyhurst, poulan and 4 others off bu...... and you pretty much have an average team. my point being the reason why bc has had great success this year is because schaus, stack and others have been there to save the day and make the big play. that's what stellar players whom are asked to participate in the holiday camp do. they make the big play and save the day because they are deemed by usa hockey to be superior to others. take them or others mentioned in a group of 5 off the team and you are left with average. in just a 30 game season, each game counts and as a result could have been easily adjusted. as mentioned, i think the team puts this game in their rearview mirror and looks ahead to yale and hockeyeast competition.

Re: Fire Kingedy?

I agree that removing 5 top players off of any team would completely change the outlook. I don't remember any WCHA teams postponing games because they were minus players, however. To be sure, top WCHA teams have avoided scheduling games on certain weekends for years, but the only game I can remember where a team postponed due to player absences was last year when UNH was hit with the flu. I would guess that was more of a health concern than a competition issue. IMO, moving games for a competitive advantage would set a dangerous precedent.

Why no mention of key Princeton players at Holiday camp, or being injured, or just returning the day before because of weather conditions???
