It sounds more like you are trolling. Classy, as always. If it sounds like I'm gloating, I am.
Where to begin. Tonight's game wasn't even close. From the moment the puck dropped, the Crimson dominated BC. If you guys were hoping that this would be your turnaround game, well, start packing up the bus because your season is over. Offense, defense, special teams, Harvard had it all over BC. I think you guys would have trouble beating Union in our league. Seriously, I couldn't believe how many times our forwards blew by your D or walked out in front from the corner untouched. And we don't have that much talent up front after losing a bulk of our scoring from last season due to graduation.
Thunstrom can skate like the wind and she obviously has talent. But she didn't do much with or without the puck. Part of that was due to Harvard's game plan, most of it was due to lack of support from your other forwards.
If it sounds like I'm gloating, I am. This was payback for the past two Beanpots. I'm not sure what your coach had in mind in terms of a game plan. Play for OT? Yeah, that's a good strategy. May have worked in the past but not tonight.
Skate79, I really think your post is over the top, and kinda silly to think that somehow that's "payback" for Harvard's Beanpot losses to BC. Sure, Harvard did look to be the better team, but it WAS 0-0 for a good portion of the game. It seemed to me that the game got out of control when the BC coaches lost their cool on the 3rd goal. From then on it was just an uncomfortable bloodbath. As someone asked earlier, what did Green get a misconduct for? I didn't see anything that could account for it.
What was the Andrea Green misconduct penalty for?
Your gloating post was payback for the last two Beanpots? While I appreciate the gesture, I assure you neither BCWH Superfan joe, RStarr, Vellnueve, nor myself had anything to do with them. Not sure why we're the ones getting paid back.
Even after PC lost to Harvard this past weekend, I had a lot of respect for the team. Not sure where you get the lack of talent rating because there appears to be quite a bit. In addition, the team appears to be quite hardworking and aggressive, and this can often make up for the lack of a super star.
Due to this fact, I am surprised by your need to gloat. Winners know they are winners without gloating. Anything else is just poor sportsmanship.
I have to agree. That post seemed harsh.
Ok, in light of the recent election, BC fans- can I count on your support next Tuesday?

Okay, Skate 79, represented in this response to your childish outburst are FANS from BC, Providence, Northeastern, Minny, your beloved Harvard, and now UNH, all of whom acknowledge the supremacy of Harvard over BC, a team that has struggled all season, but have enough respect for these athletes to admit defeat with grace. Do you really think it was necessary to rub their faces in it? Do you think they didn't notice the score? Or maybe on the drive back across town they forget they lost. And what did Union ever do to merit inclusion in your negative diatribe? Good job there, insulting two teams with one jab. I'm sure Dartmouth is releived to be out of your line of sight now.
I can't make sense of why you even bother to expose yourself to the lowly masses by attending a game. I'd have a hard time believing you ever played a sport, because one of the most important aspects of being a competitor is humility, of which you display none.
I'm very happy that you went home feeling so good about yourself and the almighty Crimson (no slight to them intended) after the game, and I apologize for all of the mortals you had to endure while at Bright last night. I can just picture you squashing bugs all the way to your front door.

So, that said, my take on last night's BC - Harvard game was different. Although I admit having gone into it with the preconceived notion that Harvard was highly likely to win, I thought BC played as good a first period as they have all year.
I remarked at the outset that Boyles was going to have to be at the top of her game, and she certainly was. She saw a LOT of rubber, and turned most of it away. You could hear her quarterbacking the breakout and helping as her team worked for posession in the D zone.
One think not mentioned thus far is the shoulder injury sustained by one of the Eagles Captains, defenseman Tracy Johnson. At the very end of the first, she slammed her shoulder in the course of play, and was visibly hurting as they left the ice. She played in the second, but was obviously in pain, as even skating without the puck was causing her difficulty. With Bolden not dressed, and the game tied at 0 until that injury, I think it was a significant occurance.
Penalties didn't help BC, but Harvard went only 2 for 6 on the man ad, so the PK, while not flawless, didn't lose the game. Actually, BC does a pretty good job of blocking shots from the outside.
Having seen BC play a number of times this season, I don't see a clear offensive strategy. They continue to struggle with passes, holding on too long or not getting a solid, quick pass off, and then it seems they dump and chase. Unfortunately, they aren't winning enough of those races to maintain significant puck posession in the offensive zone.
BC went 0 - 4 on the PP. If they are struggling 5 on 5, they really need to use that man advantage to get the puck on net if they are going to stay in games.
I thought Walsh played a good game. Has she ever been paired with Thunstrom?
Whoa, what? I didn't even notice.Bolden not dressed...
I don't have a problem with epically gloating about a win to other fans when there's been some sort of a rivalry or something... But I don't think I've ever even had the pleasure of responding to a Skate79 post before. Have we met or something? Did I do something to offend you? lolOkay, Skate 79, represented in this response to your childish outburst are FANS from BC, Providence, Northeastern, Minny, your beloved Harvard, and now UNH, all of whom acknowledge the supremacy of Harvard over BC
How was it over the top? Did you honestly feel like Harvard was going to lose? I didn't. BC wasn't generating any offense to speak of and it was only a matter of time before we found the back of the net. And I'll stand by what I said about the talent level because other than Thunstrom who is a great player, I didn't see a wealth of talent out there. Sure you can work as hard as you want but the scoreboard never lies. You are what you are. Our men's team keeps getting complimented for all the talent we have. Well, what are the results? Not very impressive right? Did we compete with the BC men on Monday night? Certainly not from my perspective.
I can't say what happened to Green with the misconduct penalty. Didn't see anything out of the ordinary. Frustrations sometimes boil to the surface so perhaps she said something to the refs that warranted the misconduct. Don't know.
How was it over the top? Did you honestly feel like Harvard was going to lose? .
I never felt like Harvard was going to lose before the puck even dropped. Let's see, top 10 ranked perennial power vs. team with 5 wins all year.
Congratulations. Want someone to throw you a parade?
BTW, "Beanpot vengeance" doesn't mean anything unless you actually win the trophy.
I will agree that it looked like they didn't have much of a game plan (other than cross the red line, dump it in, and change it up).
But they were also facing a vastly superior team.
Whoa, what? I didn't even notice.
Neither the box score on collegehockeystats.net nor the one on Harvard's own site shows a Major penalty. No minor on Green either. Instead, both have a 10-minute misconduct and a game misconduct. If it was in fact a spear, it is strange that it wasn't called that way. From what I saw and heard it was a Major for spearing Buesser. Certianly, uncalled for.....I would guess that her frustration unfortunately took over.
