Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

1. I will not be buying one of those, but I appreciate the creativity/effort on your part. Will these shirts arrive before the gold unis that a lot of people purchased?

2. Me asking that question could very well lead to Patriot Golfer creating a USCHO account.

Well done

Nothing like paying for something in April with the understanding it'll arrive in June and here we are, days till October and nothing.

As I said on EA, PG can go f a goat.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Stole this from someone on EA:

York Quote on Twitter from the sports editors for the Heights: "Frank Vatrano has withdrawn from the University. Per BC policy, we're not allowed to discuss any academic issues. But we're certainly going to miss him. He's a terrific young guy and we wish him nothing but the best."

Now, while BC can't talk about it, USHR put a call in to the Vatrano camp. So maybe Vatrano would talk to them and reveal what his plans are.
It's possible Vatrano may return to BC after the Clearinghouse issues are resolved.

One other NCAA rule... an athlete has 5 years to complete 4 years of athletic eligibility. Once a student athlete has enrolled at an institution, the clock starts ticking on the 5 years (it may be once the student is on the roster, not sure). BC's roster was very late coming out, so maybe now we know why. Perhaps it was done so it wouldn't start the ticking on his 5 year clock (Vatrano was never on the roster). I am also not sure, but if the student withdraws from school within a certain period of time, it may be that he/she never enrolled. Time will tell.

At North Dakota we've had to deal with this on a couple occasions. One of our "Freshmen" this year is Colten St. Clair. He was denied by clearinghouse under a very weird set of circumstances (there were questions surrounding an online high-school class certification that he had taken) last year and was ineligible to play. He stayed at UND last year, took classes, and is now eligible to play this year.

As for your 5 year question, it starts from the date of enrollment. I'm not sure if you remember a North Dakota player by the name of Tim Skarperud (career 42-48-90), but he was limited to 3 years of NCAA eligibility by the 5-year rule. IIRC, he enrolled at North Dakota, but played USHL for a couple seasons before coming to UND. He applied for a waiver, but was denied.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Check out his post on this thread when the Vatrano news first broke. He was way off on what happened.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Latest USHR news says there is no chance of vatrano returning to BC this year or ever...but never says why.

Does it mention what schools he is interested in? Does anyone know if he will have to sit out a year at his next school?

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Well...the only positive to come out of this Vatrano mess is that it will provide a little more space for all the 2013 Forward recruits ;)

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Drew, umass and PC were mentioned. As for your other question, still up in the air.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

With Richardson being pushed back to 2013 earlier this summer and with Vatrano now being off the team, I can' t see us having much scoring production coming from the 3rd and 4th lines. One other thing is now for certain, if BC is going to be a contender next year, several of the incoming freshmen forwards are going to have to produce from the get-go.

Re: Boston College Recruiting - 2012 and 2013
Cangelosi is on pace to score over 200 points this year!

So what is it with BC and all these short little Italian dynamos (Emma, Gionta, Voce, Gerbe, Cangelosi)?

Good news on McGlynn, you'd have to think goals in all his first three games now is more than just beginners luck; this kid is GOOD!!

Maybe these two are part of the solution next season. Add this to Calnan, Gilmour, Richardson and you have a very strong incoming class. That said I don't expect to not see Johnny Guadreau, Arnold or Hayes back after this season. Some big shoes to fill.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Speaking of forwards coming in next year, does anyone know why Evan Richardson has not played the last 3-4 games, for Powell River?

Spaziani, Defillipo... WHOOPS.

If only we could have a bit more luck with the greasy eyetalians that have ruined the football program. Gene has about 30 hours left on the job (thank God) and hopefully Spaz is not far behind him.

Funny how he doesn't even have the stones to come out and be acknowledged by the customers who are paying his 7 figure salary.
