Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

do you think any fanboy can even watch these games? they wont stop talking about kreider and BC. they even talk about brown and cavanaugh now.

An even tougher pill to swallow for the fanboys that like the NYR. Drury's rapid decline (production/health problems) over the past two years left his NYR tenure leaving a lot of people unsatisfied given the value of his contract and Boyle/Kreider step in and take all the thunder and the team starts rolling.

Anyway, enough with the fanboys.

Congrats to Mullane, Wey, Whitney for being voted captains by the team. Tremendous honor and I'm sure they'll do a great job.

I'm really happy with the choice of Mullane for captain. Did anyone else think someone else should have earned the C?

This NYR fan is very glad to have Kreider. I was skeptical he would be ready to play in the postseason, with all it entails, but have been proven wrong. He's been legit through the games he's played so far. Super happy to have him.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Congrats to Pat Mullane, Patrick Wey and Steven Whitney on being named the captains. Especially to Mullane. I've seen how he interacts with kids getting autographs after games. He is so accomodating to them. Actually talks to them and asks them questions about themselves. I've also never seen someone give/receive more hugs and pats on the head from the opposition, in the handshake lines. He seems to be very well liked by his peers.

Hopefully these three guys can lead BC to breaking the four year win total, set by the 2001 class (117). They are at 92 over the last three years (compared to 60 for BU).

Rangers
1) dump gilroy and drury
2) profit

rangers will have cap space to chase parise this offseason since they won't have to pay drury multi millions to go away

He'd be my first choice followed by Arnold who may be next

Yes, I really thought Arnold might have been able to get the C as a junior or at least an A. He impresses me that much.

I give him a 99.9999999999% chance of getting the C as a senior, however.

I'm a little shocked he didn't get an A. Especially over penalty prone Whitney. But maybe it is a message to Whitney that the team needs him to keep his head on straight every game.

You could almost make a case that he was the team MVP in that the odds of winning were much higher when the other team gets whintey'd instead of us.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

BC needs to schedule North Dakota.
1.) Strengthens our OOC
2.) We always beat them.

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

Correct. BC is undefeated against North Dakota in their program history.

wow, i wasn't aware of that............;) I've read on EA that there some agreement nearly in place where BC will play 2 ea of North Dakota, Minnesota, Mich, Mich St ,Wisc and DU(?) each year on a sort of revolving basis over the next 4 or so years starting when the Irish arrive in HE........I'm hoping that's the case, great way to fill up the enlarged OOC schedule:)

This is a great story for the assistant coaches and their strength as recruiters. There's a reason Jerry summoned Cav from Dartmouth in 1996(?). Cav, and now add Brownie to this compliment, has consistently developed relationships and evaluated talent better than any other assistants in the country, yet gets no press. Now that so many of their recruits are producing at the highest level, it cannot be ignored and is finally being recognized. Kudos to these unsung heroes to the program!

Re: Boston College Off-Season Thread: 2012 National Champions

FWIW....

The new issue of The Hockey News (5/12) has 2 pages of stories on the Iggles (SI, unfortunately, doesn't bother to cover the FF anymore). Main story on Krieder, sides on Milner and Jerry/team's Frozen Four success.

Somehow left out of the aforementioned articles was the ceaseless pressure felt at the Heights every season to keep pace with the stellar program down the avenue. ;)
