Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

samuelson had a bad game, and shea wasnt much better. but they are young and each game is a learning experience. nice of the whole team to play well in a trophy game after not doing so well in the denver cup.

congrats to muse. great tournament.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

The defense held up for a while. BC looked drunk early on. Really picked it up after that.

Really unimpressed with J Whitney on 1 first period shift. He had 15 seconds of pure buffoonery. First dangling with sick skill on the delayed penalty he created, he couldn't put it in the open net. Then 15 seconds after our guys looked stupid on the PP, he goes and grabs the guy's facemask behind our own god**** net and nullifies the PP. Ridiculous.

Samuelsson with two horrendous turnovers that ended up in the net.

BC started to play stupid again.

Absolutely heinous that BC allowed a freakin SHG up 4-1 in the 3rd period. Dumoulin got caught flatfooted on that one. I thought Muse should have stuck to that side with backside help from Sneep. Warsofsky saw it so he went backhand and tried to roof it hoping Muse would go down and he did.

Overall, Muse played well. Nothing he could do on the other two goals.

Alber struggled early. Didn't see him much after that.

With BU looking to storm back in the 3rd after the Warsofsky goal, BC forwards were just flat out ridiculous with their refusal to dump it in deep. Multiple times in a span of mere minutes BC got caught holding it, dispossessed slightly, and then had two forwards caught deep as BU helpers came in and dug pucks from the middle of the ice with our guys standing still or looking to get deep.

Still, this is something to build on.

Lots of depth players coming to the forefront. Freshman class is a monster class.

3 goals from the defensemen for BU tonight. not much you can do about that; there arent too many teams in the country with that unbalanced attack.

for a team that is so good killing penalties, they are pretty lousy with an empty net!

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

'grats on the Beanpot win tonight, and good luck the rest of the way, see you in a few weeks!

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Good win, with a couple of comments..

- The refs screwed BU for a change.
- Gotta love the look on BU players' faces when they lose the Beanpot. Kinda like the look Derek Jeter gets when he strikes out - a little bewildered, "hey, we're BU."

Also: Samuelsson made two bonehead errors that directly led to two goals. Discuss.

Hell of a game and I let out a deep sigh of relief when the final seconds ticked off.

It was kind of weird where BU's offense came from their defensemen. All the goals were scored in one end of the rink ( 6 of 7 goals) until BC broke the trend to take the game on that 4th goal.

Man if Kreider continues to score what a bonus.

Or, more topical and timely, kinda like the look Peyton Manning got when he threw that pick-six.

good win. congrats on being the only boston team now with a chance to win the national title.;)

Corazzini

Really? I haven't done it yet but I doubt he even makes my BU list. I also guess the website doesn't care that only 3/8ths of his career was in the decade in question

Besides that I have no real disagreements with your list, just my own personal biases would make it come out a little differently here and there.

Edit: Nice showing tonight, enjoy Kreider while you can

Did they really screw BU though? Gravallese and Benedetto are the guys I was hoping for. They are the most competent refs Hockey East has to offer.

Was that Samuelsson who had the puck on his stick before the 3rd BU goal?

Carmine, you raised a lot of good points that I thought about. Despite the win, they NEED to play smarter. It's that simple. I liked this quote:

“The significance of the game from my perspective is that a lot of our younger players haven’t won a trophy game yet, our freshmen and sophomores. There’s about 14 of them,” York said. “This is a catalyst for the younger players. That’s an important phase for our program.”

And that's what I love about York. He understands the importance of the Beanpot in terms of what it means going forward.

But when BU wins the Beanpot, its our NC. :p

I disagree. They are the most experienced, but I don't consider them competent. They love to call the ticky tack stuff that just ruins a hockey game. However, they are pretty unbiased which is somewhat of a positive.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

A few more wins and we may just slide into that 4th #1 seed slot. Here's to hoping.

You are fairly new around here so let me fill you in.

Prior to last year, it was BU's national championship as they really failed to win a darn thing except that 2006 HE title, which precursored the beatdown of the century in Worcester (and gave us lovely images of fanboys crying). Here on USCHO, nothing else mattered. While BU fans were deluding themselves into thinking they could do something in the postseason (2006 included), it was BC losing the Beanpot and then going on to bigger and better things like Frozen Fours (8 out of 11 years). All the while, with the exception of 2001 and 2008, the party line from the BU fansies on here was that they won the Beanpot and we didn't win the national title so their season was better, along with other ridiculous claims ("I wouldn't trade our season for yours", etc etc etc).

That was part of how the rest of the country came to define the culture at BU as fanboyish.

Last year was a fluke and an anomaly. Get used to the Beanpot being the BU national title again.

As for this year, you can cancel the rest of your games. Remember, you can't win a national title if you lose a Beanpot. I heard that here a few times! It must be true and obviously is a good predictor of the future.

Not a fluke. Just a choke of enormous proportions by Miami (OH).

Yeah, you're right. Great plays by Nick Bonino, Zach Cohen, Chris Higgins and Matt Gilroy had nothing to do with that comeback.

If we're gonna call that a choke, what are we gonna call what Miami did late in the second period of the regional finals the year before?

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

What a great game to watch. BU really brought the physical game all night long and the Eagles answered likewise. Great test for the young Eagles going forward. That was Grade A tournament play and as good as any play we're likely to see from here on out.

Kreider: That was a sick move and a great finish.
Almeida: Sweet snipe.
John Muse: Wow... he was money.
Gibbons: Nice hit. :)

Let's keep it rolling Eagles. A #1 seed is within reach.
