Boston College Hockey, Part II

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Flattered to see Maine mentioned in a discussion about the Reg. season race, but...

Let's wait 'til after next weekend's series vs the Red Menace (East).

If you want to help us out, you could start by throwing the Beanpot and giving them a hangover. :D

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Hockey East Online couldn't find a more up to date picture? Not only was that picture obviously not from the Maine game against UNH, but im pretty sure the BC player in the background is Petrecki. I kinda chuckled to myself when I saw it. That being said, Maine's sweep of UNH gives us a better chance of catching UNH, but now that we are tied with Maine, we have to worry about them too. I guess it was a double edged sword. Just keep winning boys!

i've noticed the stock photos are terrible too. but i suppose its cost/benefit thing for them. probably not worth it to buy a picture from every game.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Quietly, Muse's stats for the year have become quite good.

I noticed that, too, when I did my latest power rankings. He had been in the bottom third of HE for most of the season. Now, I think he has to be considered one of the top 4 goalies in the league along with Hutton, Beaudry and Darling. Probably Rawlings and Foster just behind that.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Hey, after the game ended Friday night in Amherst I heard on NESN Trumpet Man playing the BC alma mater song in the backround.

Hats off to this kid for making the 2 hour trek out to Amherst.
Saw him at the Lowell game as well.

Gotta love that enthusiasm for our team.

How far does this kid go for games?

Maybe Vermont & Maine would be a bit much, but I'd be SUPER-impressed if anyone knows of any jaunts up there he's made.

Still, even if he limits it to 2 hour trips, it doesn't diminish the great spirit he displays.

Way to go, Trumpet Man!!

You can tell he has regained the confidence he had his freshman year and he just looks to be more comfortable in net. That hip glad to hear on NESN that he was finally healthy again because we are going to need him down the stretch run.

Yeah definitely have to keep an eye on Maine but having the tiebreaker helps, and if we take care of our own business we're set. Plus we have more home games than them to finish the year (5 for us, 4 for them).

That'd be our own TonyTheTiger20.

I think we've both been to every Hockey East arena by now.

He does play a mean trumpet. Even if he's usually threatened with ejection for playing it :D

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

I went to that UMass game with TonytheTiger aka Grant. he plays a sick trumpet. were you guys able to see/hear part of the bc crowd there through the NESN TV feed? we had about 40 people there

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

I can't take all the credit. The 40 BC fans I was with at Amherst were awesome :)

And I went with a few people to Maine and Vermont earlier this year as well. Joe, between the two of us, have we missed any away games this year other than the ones in Denver and the 2nd Maine game during the football game?

Thanks for the compliments :) Nice to know that the 13 I've played the trumpet hasn't gone to waste!

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Two things I've noticed that seem to have made a big difference for the Eagles lately. We're doing a good job of crashing the net on shots, and with Millan's tendency of leaving rebounds out front this season, we may capitalize on some of those.

Second, John Muse seems to have reduced his rebounds out front quite a bit. Appears to me that instead of trying to cradle the puck, he is now directing it very effectively off the stick to the corners on the initial shot, more so than I recall ever seeing from him.

I like our chances tonight. The Eagles seem to be in tournament mode the last few weeks, clicking on all cylinders. They keep bringing it like they have been and I see BU having a pretty tough time trying to scratch out a win. :)

Go Eagles!

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Good win, with a couple of comments..

- The refs screwed BU for a change.
- Gotta love the look on BU players' faces when they lose the Beanpot. Kinda like the look Derek Jeter gets when he strikes out - a little bewildered, "hey, we're BU."

Also: Samuelsson made two bonehead errors that directly led to two goals. Discuss.
