Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

anyways......... i was wondering if anyone knew what happend when brian o'hanley got kicked off the team and brett motherwell got suspended and signed with syracuse the next week after the first game of the 07-08 season?????

It had something to with a couple of midgets, a goat and a bag full of blow. But I don't have all the details......

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

about 36 hours longer men, i can hardly wait. any leaks on muse or milner coming out of the kremlin?

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Well, needless to say I disagree with this decision if true. Oh well. That's why we have these boards.
Personally, I'm in the Milner camp. It's nice not having other teams pepper the gaping hole over Muse's left shoulder (No offense to Muse, let's just be honest here).

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Personally, I'm comfortable with both Muse and Milner. I think both are more than adequate to win with the team they have in front of them. Having two quality options is a nice "problem" to have.

I agree. I don't *dislike* Muse, I just an leaning into the Milner camp at the moment.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Anyone know what's going on with Edwin Shea?
He didn't play in the UNH season finale and won't play this weekend either, according to York.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

I don't think he's injured or anything, I think Jerry just has more confidence in Patches O'Alber right now.

Wow, that's really something if the case. Sure, Alber's looked good when given playing time, but Shea played all year and looked alright in the 26 games I watched - MUCH better and improved compared to his freshman year - BTW.
Never saw him as a liability out there this year. Maybe just didn't notice enough how good Alber played when given the opportunity. I did at least notice he was not a liability either.

If Alber is going to play for any of the regulars, I'd prefer it be for Wey. He's the slowest on the team and always seems to be playing catch-up with his stick when trying to wedge an attacker towards the boards away from the net - allows for extra maneuverability by the attacker, either with a pass or shot. He just makes me nervous, either that he'll get beat, a play will be able to further develop from his side, or he'll be called for hooking. Plus, as speed kills -- so does lack of it, generally speaking.

Hmmmmmm, i don't disagree though my reaction is more of surprise than anything else, i just thought Jerry was going with Muse. Muse still could get game #2. Anyway , makes for good fodder for us............

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

gameday, finally. Two midterms separate me from playoff hockey... needless to say, I'm pumped. Playoff season was a bit of a downer last year - hoping for a nice, long run this year.

Whether it's Muse or Milner, or Shea or Alber, I have faith that this team is poised to do some real damage. As I've said on here many times, this has been by far the most enjoyable BC hockey team to watch during my four years as a student, including the '08 team.

Here's hoping they can one-up the '08 team by winning all the same trophies following a better regular season.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

BC seems to have risen to the #4 spot in the national rankings, which would mean a #1 seed for the NCAAs. Is that independent of what happens in the Hockey East Playoffs, or can they still move up or down?

The reason I ask is because if that #1 seed is solid already, then that means Worcester (and perhaps also North Dakota...which no doubt makes the Sioux sick). I would buy my tickets this weekend if this were a reasonably sure outcome. If not, I'll just wait.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

It definitely depends on the Hockey East playoffs.

If BC loses this series to UMass, you can bet BC will drift down to the 8/9 range as a lot of the other top teams will still be playing next week while the Eagles sit on the sidelines.

I also think it's conceivable that BC can get up to #3 if they romp through the Hockey East tournament. But as long as BC is a one seed, they will likely be in Worcester.

I just don't get the notion that the Sioux don't want to face BC or somehow are afraid to play 'em again. I'm of the opinion that they don't care and are up for all comers. It is North Dakota after all, 7 NC's in total i believe. I know of our recent success , maybe 2 in a row? but over the past 12 years i'd bet it is even or within a game. maybe someone can check it out

BC is 5-2 over the last stretch with North Dakota. That being said, I'd throw out everything before 2007 since no one on the current team's were involved in the games before that. ND is probably not scared of anyone, same as Miami. But you can bet BC is in their heads a little bit.

BC win 1999 regionals
ND win 2000 finals
BC win 2001 finals
ND win 2005 regionals
BC win 2006 semifinals
BC win 2007 semifinals
BC win 2008 semifinals

Oh, I'm sure the players aren't afraid. It's the FANS who will be nervous and anxious. Indeed, there was a period of time when BC always lost to North Dakota. Now the pendulum has swung the other way. There's no reason why it can't change again. But aside from that 6-1 anomaly a couple years ago in the FF, the games between these two schools are always nail-biters...with many going into OT.
