Boston College Hockey, Part II

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

UMass looked good tonight.

They played a very tight defense game. I was impressed by how long they kept us off the board. It was definitely a big win. Its just a shame that NU couldn't hang on against UNH. It ended up a tie. The series with UNH next weekend is HUGE

Does it matter, though? BC still controls their own destiny and even if NU held on, they need to win at UNH. I'm really impressed with Milner, but I think Muse needs to get some PT before the playoffs start.

If NU can win the second game against UNH, all BC would need to overtake UNH would be a win and a tie. So they may not have to win Friday but just tie. By the way BC has locked up at least second place in Hockey East as well.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

That was a well played game on both sides tonight. Neither team deserved to lose that game, but if it had to be someone, I'm glad it was them. ;) :p

Muse/Milner... not sure what's up there, but I'd love to see Milner get a start against UNH. He's the real deal IMO, but he's not seen the likes of a BC/UNH shootout, and UNH can certainly put it in the net. Throw him in the fire with a RS title on the line.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

When York went with freshman Schneider instead of senior Matti K in the game vs. North Dakota, Jack Parker was drunk (surprise!) and opened his big mouth to the press that it was a screw job what York did to Matti.

hahahahahahahaha, precious. that is too funny...........i wasn't that "informed" back then but thanks to all of you guys i am getting an education, so, thanks is all i can say and i really enjoy almost ;) all of the posts. ...........kudos to UMass tonight, they played the perfect game to beat the Eagles yet still lost. other than the first 10-12 minutes BC had very little open ice to get going, UMass always seemed to be in the right spot..........shall we discuss milner ?? he was fantastic AGAIN! and he may be now #4 in the nation since he now is over the 33% of teams minutes threshold to be in the stats

I truly believe this also has something to do with his recent playing time. It may be back to the one on one off rotation again unless someone clearly takes over. They both have a chance to do that now. It certainly makes for difficult game preparation for opponents with this luxury. Having them both noticed nationally will confuse the western teams come NCAA time.

Agreed. Very sound performance. Had a couple chances to take the lead, but just couldn't do it. How about that opportunity with about 30 seconds left in regulation?

York's comments about the goaltending situation is very interesting. I just assumed Muse would be the guy down the stretch, but it doesn't appear that's the way it's gonna be.

Hey, they gave themselves a chance next weekend. After chasing UNH all year, that's all you can ask for.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Muse is a battle tested guy who has proven he can win big games (NCAAs, Hockey East, even the Beanpot). Milner hasn't proven anything. I, for one, am not comfortable with Milner in the net in the NCAAs with a guy like Muse riding the pine. I think York is making a huge mistake here.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

When's the last time anyone saw a BC game played with only 2 penalties called over 62 minutes? That was pretty special witnessing that last night. :)

As for Muse/Milner. I'm not going to second guess the coaching staff on which guy they go with. I think both guys are capable of getting the job done, and big game experience is one reason I'd throw Milner in a UNH game for the RS title. I really feel either guy is capable of leading us to the promised land. We're pretty fortunate in that regard. Whatever the coaches decide, I'm all for it.

Good Morning...long time no post!

Great victory last evening. As fans, don't allow yourselves to get hung up in a goalie controversy. Both goalie are capable of doing what needs to be done to win the conference title, HE tournament, NCAA tournament if the boys commit to disciplined hockey in their own end. Coach York knows what he is doing with respect to the net minders and I believe his confidence in both is very high.

The difference for this club going forward is what we saw last night in a playoff hockey scenario...no panic, poise from so many freshmen...Krieder's game winner from Mullane, Wey's assist on Whitney's first goal, Milner's sturdy performance in the nets! These are all examples of the significant leadership on this club from staff, captains, seniors, juniors, and sophomores since day one. I still cannot get over how strong the assimilation process has been to integrate these young players into important contributing roles.

You could get the flavor of that when listening to Chris during the postgame as he credited his line mates for his improved scoring...no me just we! I just hope this club continues to set the bar of performance higher of themselves no matter what the outcomes may be. Their potential is only just now starting to be visible as they light it up on offense and play relentlessly in their own end! This team blocks shots, wins puck battles, supports one another whenever bad things occur. Those are signs of a very special hockey team and chemistry rarely seen in sport today.

Wins and losses will take care of themselves if this team continues their commitment to each other and their "specific roles" and "contributions" to team goals.

Great effort last night...keeping everyone on edge and finding a way to work hard until the final goal was scored! Focus on Friday and Friday only!

Go BC.:)

Are you asking if any of the Hockey East games are on pay TV?
www.unhwildcats.tv broadcasts UNH games live for a fee (I'm not sure offhand what that fee is)... depending on who mans the camera, it can be a pretty good broadcast. occasionally, they have someone who has no idea what they're doing (like last Saturday) and its tough to watch

i have watched a game on line from there( i think about $7) and actually it was pretty decent, relatively speaking. why do some schools have this B2 TV and not others??

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

I'd also prefer to avoid Lowell, although methinks Lowell will sneak into 4th or 5th, so no worries.

BU and UVM would be tough... 'Mack or UMass would be nice. I can't imagine UMass playing a better game against BC than the one they played last night, and BC still gutted it out. I have no fear of Merrimack once Gibbons cleans out Da Costa a few times.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Smart move by NESN to choose BC-UNH for next Friday's televised game. I realize that the 'choice' was made before the season even started when most thought that the Hockey East season-title would come down to BC-UNH. And so it has.
