Boston College Hockey, Part II

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

The UNH series will be a split, but I think BC will handle them at the TD Garden.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

I've seen every team in Hockey East in person and BC is by far the best team when they show up to play. Sadly for the league, BC is the only team that has a good chance of making any noise in the national tourney. Just look at how top seeded UNH has fared out of conference.

Why are you so convinced of that? Sure, the Whittemore Center hasn't been kind to BC, but they're a respectable 4-4-1 in the last nine trips, including a game BC should have won earlier in the season.

York was talking about how they're "trying to win a pennant". Beat UMass Friday like we all think they will, and it's in their own hands no matter what UNH does against Northeastern. They've been chasing UNH all year and now that they're three wins from the title, I wouldn't put it past them.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Just went through the Hockey East schedule and took a stab at predicting games. I actually think UMass is going to lose to BC and maybe get a point up at Maine for two games and will miss the playoffs. Amazing considering they were in 3rd a little while ago.

1. BC 35
2. UNH 35
3. Maine 31
4. BU 28
5. UML 27
6. NU 27
7. MC 26
8. UVM 24
9. UMA 23

I have everything the same (just with slightly different point totals) except for No. 1. I think UNH will split each of its last 2 weekends and hold on. BC-UVM would make for an excellent flamefest, though.

Where's Providence? :D

Haha I was just thinking that. You went through the trouble of putting UMass in ninth and ignoring Providence all together. Just because they got eliminated doesn't mean we can't speculate how many points they'll end up with :)

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

The reason why I'm thinking split @ UNH is that Dick Umile is a legend at winning the Dick Umile Cup a.k.a. the regular season title.

Let's make sure BC takes the two points on Friday before we worry about that, though.

If BC can squeeze into the top 6 in PWR, preferably top 5, then I'll be happy regardless of how the regular season standings end up. Just no Denver or Miami in the regional, please.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

We might not see this team lose another game until the 2011-2012 season.

:)

Back in the day a hilarious BC fan used to post all summer long that the BC intrasquad scrimmage in early October would be the toughest opponent our Eagles would face all season.

Fans in HE used to absolutely eat that up.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

FWIW- and it isn't a lot Biggest goal differentials in NCAA:

BC +42
Union +39
RIT +35
Yale +34

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

I think BU will be a test as they seem to be peaking at the right time !

Kinda scary looking at the USCHO bracketology that both Maine and BU are bubble teams. I thought we all agreed BU was eliminated a long time ago? It seems next to impossible that BU makes it unless they win the conference tournament.

Right now they have us listed in the Midwest Regional and the number 1 seed in our bracket is Miami. Could the location and potential competition be any worse?

No and No. I hadn't eliminated BU, past history kinda tells us that and no, that guys bracket CAN"T be any worse for us, i noticed that also and then wondered what it would take to be a #1 seed? I guess win out but that's tough with UNH at the end of the regular season and then the tourney but we'd also need a good amount of help out west to knock off the 4-5-6 ranked teams as i don't see Miami or Denver or Wisconsin faltering.........
