Boston College Hockey, Part II

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

BU still probably has to win Hockey East to get in, but we'll see. While Hockey East is 1-10 (I'll throw in Providence for beating BU twice) is very tough, it hasn't translated into a lot of NCAA slots.

agreed x 2, and there is a slight possibility that there will only be one team in the NCAA's from HE :) ........if BC wins HE tourney AND if UNH falters and doesn't get to the garden which i dont thnk will happen but if they ever got swept this week who knows?

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

Being placed in a bracket with North Dakota and/or Miami wouldn't be bad for BC. Both those teams would name BC as the penultimate opponent they'd least want to face.

Who's the ultimate one they don't wanna face? :)

i understand based on recent history you'd think that, but how many times do you want to go to the well with those 2 teams??
p.s. i am assuming you meant "ultimate"

Probably because Hockey East is 4-8-0 vs WCHA and 6-6 vs CCHA this year.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

are we too complacent with our team? we have a very sleepy thread. muse or milner again?? i wonder if jerry is having a flashback of cory schnieder's freshman year........... i wasn't big matti fan back then but his stats always were good but he always seemed to let up a softie at the most inopportune time. I bet if jerry had it to do over again he would have matti start those 2 NCAA games vs mercyhurst and N. Dakota..........

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

I think most BC fans are just waiting to see how it turns out. The talent is there. Complacent is a good term. I'm fine with what they have and the results. They've gotten some of the crap out of their system (NU and UML games) and now they're playing well and have shown what they are capable of with dominating performances. The team is coming together nicely.

It appears the whispers of goaltending contraversy are getting louder and louder. Milner is hot, not seeing a ton of pucks but making some bigtime saves. If Milner is now the #1, it's really just flat-out whacky how it turned out and no one could have predicted this. Here we have an insurance policy brought in fairly late in Milner, Muse recovers quite quickly from surgery and starts the season opener, Jerry throws Milner a bone to keep Muse rested and to get him totally 100% and Milner does well. As the stretch comes, Muse wins the Piszpot MVP and hasn't won since while Milner is 3-0 since the Piszpot.

Muse looked pretty good in the Piszpot and he obviously is healthy and rested. He's won two Beanpots, 1 national title, 1 HE title. Is Jerry really going to leave him on the shelf for the big games down the stretch?

It's just UMass tonight, but we'll know more going by who starts in Durham next Friday I suppose.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

I hear that Milner is starting tonight (not from the best source but it's what I heard).

I agree, we'll have a much better idea next weekend.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

it could be he's resting him(muse) but 3 games in a row(if milner goes tonight) kinda makes you think or suggests jerry's up to something. agree with nick too, who would ever have thunk it? even though it was a blow out vs NU last sunday milner made some incredible saves in that 3rd period and merrimack did have a few real shots at him and he again came up with fantastic saves

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

This is certainly an interesting situation. I still think Muse is the guy. Still hasn't matched his numbers from freshman year, but his numbers right now are solid and on the upswing.

Milner has a better GAA, but Muse a better save percentage. Another oddity is Milner is 8-2, Muse only 11-8-2. Seems like the team is scoring more for Milner too.

Re: Boston College Hockey, Part II

I believe this was our first overtime win at Conte since the 2005-2006 Hockey East quarterfinals, correct?

That was huge.
