Were you the team manager for the women's team?
No.
I'm not trying to be sarcastic, but you keep saying "we" and traveled all the way to Minneapolis. You obviously have an emotional connection that most fans of BC or the men's team do not have.
It's a fair question. Yes, I do have more of an emotional connection. BCWH superfan Joe and I started following the team as kind of a joke because we were bored one weekend and it was free hockey, and then we kept going to games and got to know a lot of the parents and a few of the players and eventually Joe and I had so many ridiculous stories and memories of going to the games that we just got attached to the program.

Also, in the second game we went to, one of our best players landed a perfect haymaker on one of PC's players. This girl slid like 8 feet on her a$s into the boards with a bewildered look on her face. It was one of the funniest things we'd ever seen. We usually point to that moment as when it all started. hahaha

With us students on break, it'll be interesting to see how many of us they can drag back early. If we could fill the sections behind the goals I would be impressed, not optimistic about the upper level.

Posted this in the UMass series thread by mistake: Over in the UML thread they cited a HE release stating next year's season closing series will be UVM at Conte.

Very weird, why mess with a good thing? Just more home games when the students are (presumably) on break.

It's not BC's decision. It's Hockey East's as far as conference schedule goes.

I was sitting in the lower nose bleed seats the other night when they played UNH. I was impressed that it was filled with non BC students. I saw a lot of younger boys and girls, older adults rooting for BC. Maybe we'll get a decent crowd in the UMass Series. For 10 bucks you can't beat it and the parking is free. Right now the team is good but we'll see next year when BC is expected to lose a lot of players to the pros and BC not as good.

Hopefully they can do it again while they have the team and players.

Understood, my question was for HE. The majority of the past couple of years these two teams have competed for the RS title.

for me i guess it's a case of "be careful what you wish for" as i had said something about changing the schedules around as it always seems the same, now i wish they hadn't. i hadn't thought of what someone posted, that it's good to play a quality team last (no disrespect intended to UVM) to help prepare for the tournaments........maybe UVM will turn it around next year and be that team, we'll see

this from Hockeyeastonline.com

BC played before its third straight sellout and fifth in the last seven home games in Friday's 4-0 win over New Hampshire and improved its average home attendance figure to 6,783 fans per game, the highest average in Kelley Rink's 23-year history

congrats to all of us and then some!

What non-seniors do you guys expect to lose after the season? I know Muse, Brian Gibbons and Joe Whitney to graduation but besides that which guys are threats to leave? I am guessing C Atkinson and Kreider could go i cant think of anyone else off the top of my head though.

J. Hayes, Dumoulin and Cross are possibilities. I think J. Hayes probably more so than Kreider. Atkinson is likely a certainty.

Oh ok. I didn't even think of Cross because of the injuries before this year but Dumoulin and J.Hayes make sense. All those guys are already drafted I assume so it probably comes down to how bad their teams want them to get into the system.

Jimmy Hayes is the most pro ready player on the team, IMO

Considering Atkinson's and Hayes' respective NHL teams made pushes for them last year, I'd be pretty surprised if either of them returned. Wouldn't be surprised to see Dumoulin go, too, just because there doesn't seem to be a whole lot more for him to work on at the college level. I think Kreider still has some room for improvement and another year could probably help him, but he certainly has the size and skill to move on if the Rangers want him. I'd be pretty surprised if Cross left simply because he doesn't strike me as an NHL-ready player, but teams do like to pull guys out after their junior year to avoid the risk of losing them to free agency after their senior year.

I'm a little surprised people are selling Wey short here in regards to who might go pro. No one mentions him. He's a WJC guy, played well there, better than I expected. Played well in the rookie camp in the summer for the Caps. And is playing very good hockey right now. I have no idea what he is looking for out of BC as far as education goes. Is he looking for 4 years? Or 3 while doing a lot of summer classes to graduate in 3 plus the summer after his junior year? Does he care at all and he might just leave now? All I know is that he's playing very good hockey right now while being in Dumoulin's shadow and even Cross' shadow since Cross has emerged out of his last injury to start playing some terrific hockey as well. Pro ready? Probably not but he's getting there and it wouldn't shock me to see Wey go.

For the rest, I'd put Atkinson at 99% likely gone. Hayes at 85%. Dumoulin at 75% (tough to get a read on him), Kreider at 45%, Cross at 30%, Wey at 25%. I bet there will be fewer defections than people think. My hunch is that Cross is a 4-year guy and was the whole way from the start and that Kreider stays another year even though people coming into this year said he was as good as gone after 2. I think York has a better handle on these things than people realize and you can read into it with recruiting a little bit. I also think he has convinced a lot of these kids that if you're thinking of going early, at least get 3 years plus some summer classes and get your degree before you leave that senior year on the table and go pro early.

Lastly, great news from the Herald today on Kreider:

BC sophomore left winger Chris Kreider, who suffered a broken jaw when struck by a puck during the opening game of last weekend’s home-and-home series with UNH, underwent surgery yesterday. York said doctors are optimistic the Boxford native could return for the NCAA regionals.
