shocking, a goal was scored vs. BU that didn't count, seems to happen every other week with HEA officials.

seems like a regular occurrence in any Garden game anyway.................after friday night vs PC, strange we play 3 straight vs NU

I love this quote from Muse - it proves what we already know: that York uses the Beanpot as a stepping stone to the real prize at the end.

“I don’t know if it’s so much a coincidence or not,’’ said Muse, who improved to 6-1 in the Beanpot. “You win the Beanpot and go on and win the national championship. It’s happened the last three years but the Beanpot is only four teams in the country and it’s only Boston teams. The NCAA Tournament, there are 16 teams and it’s a lot different when you get there. We have our eye on the prize, we set goals at the beginning of the year. Obviously one of them is to start with the Beanpot championship. But at the same time, we know that the Beanpot is the first two [Mondays] in February, it’s not the end of the world if you lose it and it’s not everything if you win it. There is still a lot of work to be done.’’

A few thoughts:

1. Great college hockey game and worth staying up late on a "school night".
2. I want to reiterate this boards comments about S. Whitney. The staff must have sat this kid down, because he was struggling up until now. To his credit he is starting to be very effective. Not only the puck handling creativity, but the puck pressure, both forechecking and back pressure. With his offensive talent, he has tremendous upside. He was noticably good last night.
3. We have to give Coach Cav some credit for two things, first, his PK unit came up huge in the third. More importantly though, was his emotion talking to the refs after the end of regulation. He did it in a manner which did not show up the refs (players were off the ice and crowd was dispersing into the concourse), but he definitely drove his point across. The result, an OT powerplay which produced the win. Beating Parker at his own game.
4. BU is a good team. Last night the lack of offensive depth was glaring. I thought #9 played well and #3 is dangerous, but the rest are competitive players, not scary/dangerous players.
5. Did someone inject some positive juice into Jack Parker? Is this all about building players up? I've never heard him so positive after a tough loss.

Big big energizing win for this team. I didn't think they had it in them and had a feeling BU would play hard, but BC continues to win big games when absolutely necessary.

I think Parker wasn't too upset because his team isn't good enough to beat BC when BC is playing even average, let alone well. His team didn't quit and they played hard. I think that's all he could have asked for.

Double Beanpot next week!!! The women beat BU 2-1 IN REGULATION thankfully and Kelli Stack became BC's all time points getter with an assist on the first goal and scoring the second.

I agree, I was just surprised he admitted that in public.

Now a line from Jim Connelly's USCHO article:

"All three goals deflected off a BU defenseman. That’s simply back puck luck, if you ask me."

Anyone else out there want to write something telling everyone this?

I think deflected goals from opposing defenseman are only worth .75 goals. Unfortunately, BU still lost 2.25-2. Sucks 2 bu.

i was surprised they weren't thrown under the bus like they always are, especially with the penalty in OT (oh, that's right, he normally would have crucified the ref on that one ) but even JP had to realize that his guys laid it all out there monday and most likely played as well as they can play which was very well

It's nice that it's now a moral victory on the dirty end of Comm Ave when you lose your 4th in a row to your rival in 2 months, this time by a goal when the refs tried to hand you the game in regulation and said rival brings their B game. Cookies & ice cream for all!

i posed a hypothetical question like this a while ago but here's another one,:eek:please bear with me;)............if it were predetermined that we would win 2 of the 3 games with NU next week and given the tight race in HE standings, which two would you choose? personally, i rank the trophies in this manner
1. NCAA
2. HE Tournament
3. Beanpot
4. HE Regular season
Hence, i'd split the home and home with NU and take the Beanpot:)

Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part II - We Still Have Jerry York. Sorry, Every

Definitely split next weekend. No one* cares about regular season titles.

*Excluding UNH

Well, the buzz around campus over on Huntington is ****, why couldn't we play BU? But I guess to be the best, you gotta beat the best and to end the drought we have to beat the best of the best playing at about its best. Three games in a week is gonna have some serious tensions building up. To be honest, I thought you guys could've played better Monday, some sloppy passing but the better team won as I expected. I'm expecting a 90's New Jersey Devils trap for NU on Monday lol.

Not to be off topic, but I'm a big Cam Atkinson fan. What's the feeling on him from you BC guys? Is he sticking around? Scores a ton but smallish for the NHL. What is anyone hearing/feeling?

i think before the season most of us thought he would leave after this year especially since he almost left last summer so, if he was that close to leaving last year, it kind of figures he's gone after this year.....and he won't be the only one i'm afraid.:( Jimmy Hayes IMO is most pro ready, he and Dumoulin but the other Eagle fans here are more capable of answering the pro ready thing than i am.................and it's not off topic, it's the BC thread, anything goes:)

For the safety of our city, I'd take the Beanpot Championship and split the home and home. NU students might burn down the TD Garden and/or anywhere they pass on their way back to their campus if they win the Beanpot (and simultaneously beat the #1 team in the country). :p
Of course, winning 2 of 3 games could mean we tie one too...so I would definitely take a 2-0-1 next week if that's an option. I can't see UNH taking more than 3 points from Merrimack this weekend anyway. But really, I want nothing less than going a perfect 3-0 this week, winning by 12 on aggregate and exacting revenge on NU and its students who counted down the waning minutes of the Beanpot 1st Round game in '09. I'm sure every BC upperclassman, including the ones on the team, remember that game like it happened yesterday. I would love nothing more than to return the favor! :D

How about we just take 3 of 3?

yeah, i get that but it was a hypothetical, remember:eek:.................we could only get 2 in that scenario so you have to use those guidelines:p
