Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part II - We Still Have Jerry York. Sorry, Every

I agree, I was just surprised he admitted that in public.

Parker's usually pretty honest about how his team stacks up against the competition, actually. He has no problem saying BC is the best team in the country, and he had no problem earlier this year saying that BU was not, despite their No. 1 ranking at the time. He's been telling us pretty much all season that he sees HE as BC and UNH at the top, then BU, Merrimack, Maine and NU battling for the last two home ice spots, and then everyone else. I know some fans (BU and otherwise) have said it sounds like a defeatist attitude, but I think those people must've missed the part where he also said he thought his team was just starting to hit its stride and still thought it could be a national title contender.

Maybe they are hitting their stride because he stopped throwing them under the bus every time they lose.

i was surprised they weren't thrown under the bus like they always are, especially with the penalty in OT (oh, that's right, he normally would have crucified the ref on that one ) but even JP had to realize that his guys laid it all out there monday and most likely played as well as they can play which was very well

clearly, throwing them under the bus stopped working so now he has resorted to just telling them they arent good enough in hopes they will go out and prove him wrong. he'll do anything to motivate in the short term; his long term focus is clearly lacking. no wonder they tune him out.

he's right with the way he saw the league but Mack at 17-5-4 or what ever, same record as UNH is in that group with BC and UNH not with BU and Maine...........woe is the Blackbears, wha-hahpened? BU at least is going in the right direction development wise while Maine is a mess

If maine had any semblance of goaltending, they'd be right there too. They have a much more dangerous offense than BU, but their goaltending situation is BRUTAL... I see the league as BC, then a big gap, UNH/Merrimack, smaller gap, BU/Maine, then who cares after that...

BC question: I know that in recent years, BC has played with 4 FWDs on the PP (do they still do that?) My question is whether or not they play 3 fwds on the PK.

BC has played with 5 forwards on the 1st unit for years now (both Whitneys, Benn Ferriero, etc.)

Past couple of years they have put Joe Whitney as a Dman on the PK -which drives me absolutely nuts sometimes.

They have used 5 forwards for the past couple of years with two defensemen on the other PP unit.

On PK they will use J. Whitney typically with Wey, Atkinson, and Gibbons when PK defensman is serving. It has been pretty successful and has to really instill fear in opposition with such offensive fire power on the PK unit.

Staff has tremendous confidence with Joe & Steve out front on power play and feels very comfortable with Joe as a defenseman on the PK down low.

Your schedule going down the strech is super light, PC, NU 3X, UMASS and then UNH. How do you guys feel about that heading in the tourney?

I felt a couple weeks ago that we may have lost our last game of the year already.

So no one's brought up tomorrow's game. We're playing tomorrow, right? I know it's only Providence but hey it's a league game and it's important for keeping our PWR where it is (and of course picking up 2 points in the standings). Any chance we have a hangover after that emotional win vs. BU? And by hangover I mean something like winning by only 1 or 2 goals or god forbid having another OT game. Can't see us losing this one...though Providence gave UNH a scare at the Whit a couple weeks back and I feel like Beaudry is capable of stealing a point from us. Heck, we didn't seem to play all that well in our last visit to Providence (0 for a lot on the PP) but we were able to win by 2 thanks to solid goaltending by Milner. Speaking of Milner, he's gotta be starting, right?

Well, I think the UNH series and HE Tourney will prep this team for the NCAAs. Most of these guys were big contributors last year anyway, so I think they'll be ready.

I thought PC might be improving, but you have to wonder if they're about to throw in the towel after getting blown out by UVM. Gotta think York has their attention in regard to the PWR and HE standings. I bet we see Milner tomorrow.

BC hasn't even really turned it on yet. The problem is the rather blah competition in the next few weeks will make it tough to tell when they do. If they run through that stretch you'd have to give them credit for maintaining focus. Feeling good but I don't see BC winning out, hoping for maybe a loss and/or a tie here and there to keep them from having too good of a streak going. Those long streaks always get broken in the NCAAs for some reason. I see a loss or tie at Matthews next weekend and a tie in the UNH series at the very least. Thankfully.

This could be a tough game to get up for. Just came off of beating BU and the refs (cry, fanboys, cry) on Monday night, lots of talk to next Monday night and Beaudry is plenty capable of doing something crazy to BC. Gotta watch out for them. And yes I would think that Milner gets the start but haven't seen any confirmation of that yet.

Pretty much the same as last year. I think BC will be rolling heading into the NCAAs this year.

Given our history, I'd have to assume this senior class is the 1st to go undefeated against BU in the Beanpot...

Pretty impressive.

PC 6 BC 2

I've already begun to pregame. ;)

Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part II - We Still Have Jerry York. Sorry, Every

can we pay for a stream for this game anywhere?

Re: Boston College Hockey 2010-2011, Part II - We Still Have Jerry York. Sorry, Every

PC's website has a stream. Go to the schedule, click on the game, and then on the sidebar click "watch."

joe, thanks..............i got it and it's low quality but from home it's worth it to see what's going on. BC had a great chance shorthanded late and overpassed.............but if we brought our "B" game to the garden monday vs BU as someone said, this is our "C" game so far
