Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

Point of tangential interest to BC alums:

If you reached a breaking point with BC's 6th fund raising call last night, you can call 617-552-4400 to be taken off the list.

I get called by these guys, and I'm not even an alum!

Thanks for the info, Zudnic.

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

the fact they've never had online video is frustrating, but losing the local radio broadcast is simply asinine.

They've been playing "musical radio stations" for the past several years. You never knew what station they were on from season to season. WEEI will broadcast BC football and men's hoops, but not hockey. :(

They do have online video (for a fee) for their home games.

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

Chesco (Stoneham): Gene, when is the AC going in to Conte? This summer?

Gene DeFilippo: The AC should have been added to Conte Forum when it was built. It would have been very inexpensive to install it at that time. The cost for installing air conditioning will be somewhere between $5.5 and $6 million. At this point, we have other higher priorities than to spend $6 million to put air conditioning into Conte Forum.

Well Gene, if you let Jags leave on his own and didn't let your ego get in the way, BC would be 1/3 the way to AC. That situation cost the athletic program millions, yet no one calls Gene out. Jags was "his guy", he gave him a generous contract, the coaches drove BMW's, then Jags decides to move on, Gene has egg on his face, and makes a decision in emotional haste that costs the athletic program millions. If he let him walk with little fanfare, BC would not have had to buy him out.

I guess those situations are the priorities. He is a joke.

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

I would like to see Milner get a start in net this weekend. I thought he looked OK in the MC game, and he'll get some valuable game experience. I like the idea of a rotation to keep the goaltenders sharp. Thoughts?

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

Gotta say. It's obvious how much moisture there is in the air and it isn't very cold out. Are we gonna be able to see from one side of the rink to the other at 7:00 p.m. tonight?

BC has used gigantic dehumidifiers for games like this for the last couple years. We should be more worried about another blackout than a fogout.

The blackout happened in a televised game (NESN or ESPNU). With TV trucks, dehumidifiers and TV lights, they were using an awful lot of juice that night.

I doubt there'll be a fog problem. Humidity is high (rain will do that), but it'll be 53º at game time.

So what's up?... anyone else wan to see Milner get a game?

no

a) milner is not good
b) vermont is
c) muse likes to play a lot of games
d) there has been no discernable effects of his hip injury yet that would indicate he needs to rest it
e) muse has always played better at the end of the year indicating he does not fatigue over the course of the year
f) see (a)

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

If BC wins tonight, I would not object to seeing Milner tomorrow.

Disagree. He looked a bit nervous in the first period of his first college game, but can't say as any of those goals were softies. He settled down as the game went on and got the job done in the third when MC was coming at him hard with some grade A's. Made some nice saves.

VT is good and MC isn't?... They smacked us and VT around at the Mack. MC is 2-1-0 vs BC and VT.

We don't know if Muse will be better in a rotation... he's never had a backup to rest him. I think he has one now. ;)

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

Yes, Milner did settle down and certainly saved the game at the very end. But up until that point he didnt inspire me.

Also, I dont think the comparison to merrimack is appropriate; as I think we may have underestimated them by starting the backup in the first place. MC has not proven to be a great road team yet; so I still think VT will be a tougher matchup at conte.

Overall, I think Milner should spell Muse more than say Margolin did. And competition will always improve performance. But this weekend is not the time.

Throw him into the fire. It'll keep the team on their toes. ;) :)

it reminds me of TOB's strategy of playing the backup on the 2nd series of the 2nd quarter, which I supported.. except when we were playing the Vick lead VTech team and momentum of the game was on the line.

you have to be judicious about stuff like that.

Re: Boston College Hockey 2009-2010

See you tonight?
Tonight and tomorrow.
Will have my niece and her 3 year old daughter tomorrow. She wants to see the 'Eagle'. :)
Fun part is... I'll have the 3 year old chanting 'Let's Go Eagles' all day on Thanksgiving. She gets pumped up for that stuff! :)

Are they going to end up sitting with me again? :D
