Uh oh. Aelegs can't spell. Awful quiet in here.:)

Next time I'm pre-gaming for the Pats and type an entry, I'll seek you out to spell check it. Good to see your paying attention to detail. That's why we hire people like you.

It's great to see that your BC education taught you the difference between your and you're. Couldn't resist while we were on the topic of grammar and spelling.

I didn't go to BC, if I did I would have had better spelling and grammar instruction.

Well, that was...disappointing. I fully expected BU to bring their A game. I did not expect BC to bring their C game. That had to be the worst game Dumoulin has played in a BC uniform. Ick. Let's just hope it was a learning experience.

Hopefully that was his worst game in ANY uniform. I counted 4 turnovers on one shift.
Not to single him out... the whole team sucked. :(

One bright spot... Gaudreau continues to dazzle behind the net. Man, that kid can create some open ice for himself in tight quarters and then thread the needle.

i can only imagine he was suffering some form of exhaustion. that was the worst individual game by a BC player i can ever remember. it certainly didnt help that York kept running him out there for the better part of half the game. malcolm lyles had some stinkers, but he was promptly benched after a few shifts of it. dumoulin's abortion act continued for the whole game, even strength, on the pp and on the pk. pretty impressive to be that awful for that long.

the only other performance that comes close to me is the joe schuman debacle against danny heatley's wisconsin team. schuman was -2 and in the box for the other goal in a 3-2 loss. i dont think i ever saw him again.

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012 season thread

I cannot sit by and listen to the hammering of Dumoulin for his performance against BU. He has come under heavy fire because of a less then expected excellent level of performance. Understand, as you clearly state, the enormous amount of burden he has carried along with Tommy Cross with the freakish injury to Wey a few weeks back. Compound that with the high ankle sprain sustained by Alber in Friday's game increasing even more the role of Brian and Tommy. BU's strategy was to punish these two from the outset physically and they worked their plan to their credit perfectly. In a perfect world these two would not be pressing, thinking they had to do it all by themselves but because of their competitive nature they want the responsibility on their shoulders. They will face similar "strategy" from ND this weekend as well. I believe they will be fine and in fact will come out on top in the end scoreboard wise.

Thank these two for their continued contribution to the leadership and success of this team instead of pointing out their failures during the BU game. Experience is always valuable once learned but often painful from a timing perspective. These two and their teammates will be just fine as they continue to develop and grow as a individuals and teammates. Wish Wey and Alber speedy recoveries as they are needed to help this team reach full potential.

I don't get it. Why shouldn't people be allowed to point out that someone had a bad game?

Not sure of your point...i'm not suggesting your opinions should not be expressed as the criticisms have surely poured out on team and individual deficiencies as a result of BU performance. I'm just suggesting that equal emphasis be made on some of the reasons why these kids may have missed your lofty expectations of them on Sunday. Hammering individual performances just doesn't seem to make much sense to me but I maybe the exception. Just felt the need to clarify what a guy like Dumoulin really means to this team in the big picture and how hefty his load as well as Cross has become with the injuries to their peers in Wey and Alber.

take it as the ultimate compliment to Dumoulin. Anytime he's not at his best, however rare it may be, it gets noticed big time because we aren't used to it , he's spoiled us

I don't have a problem with what anyone said. To the majority of the points some notes.

On the whole, there is a fine line in critiquing college athletes and many people have completely different lines (they are student-athletes they shouldn't be to they get paid at least $50k per year and are fair game).

I have been very critical of York's using 5 dmen, I think it's completely unsustainable and will drain 2 of our best assets in Cross & Dumoulin (not sure if I did it on here but I most certainly did on EA & EO) especially on nights where we go back to back.

Regarding Dumoulin, it is safe to say that this was the worst game he's played in his 2+ years of nearly 100 games. Multiple turnovers on one shift, highlighted by directly passing to a BU player, in an attempt to start the breakout, which allowed the BU player to walk in alone on Milner. That being said, he has set a ridiculously high standard for himself (as noted by the ranking of top BC dmen of the past 20+ years by posters a couple of pages back) starting in his first year where he was far and away the best Dman on a national championship team (and arguably one of the best in HE).

Re: Boston College Eagles 2011-2012 season thread

I'd object to picking on one player simply because none of them played well. But it is one game, it's over and I'm not going to be caring about it when they are hoisting the Title in Tampa.

This is true. It is also true that Dumo had a bad game.

There, emphasis on both.

BC made its televised debut on the CBS Sports Network an utterly forgettable one. They get another crack Friday; the game versus Notre Dame is also going to be televised live on the same network. However, the BC web site doesn't indicate this...saying that it'll only be heard on 98.5. If you get the CBS Sports Network (usually available as part of a supplemental sports tier on your cable lineup), tune in for this game. I think it's the 2nd or 3rd game at Notre Dame's new arena.

Did you go to BC? I see you're a photographer, most likely with press credentials at these games, yet you seem to have an affinity for BC. As someone who's seen a lot of your photos on this site, I am just curious.

My images are unbiased, but my heart belongs to BC. Did not go to BC (or a hockey school), but was an NHL fan first and my went to a Beanpot to see Devils' prospects Gionta & Clemmensen, sat in the BU student section and got hooked. By the time they graduated (and BC won at my first F4) I was hooked on the team.
