They don't have skill players. They have skill as a team. Kinda reminds me about a legendary team back in the day who didn't have the best players, they just had the right ones. ;)

I'll let you in on a secret, no one who announces college hockey is making tons of money, and they will never, ever know the visiting team as well as they know their own team. It is why I actually like to listen to other teams announcers every once in a while, to see who they respect and fear on my team, and who they like and dislike on their own team. Not knowing the visiting team as well as you like is not because of lack of respect, it is just that this is a minor part time job for these guys. if all you want to hear is homers, then listen to your own guys.

Not knowing the name of a teams mascot that was in the frozen four the past year and also has a storried program from your own Freakin state is Moronic for any Minnesota fan let alone the person being paid to announce the game. Yes i will choose my own announcer if its the difference between listening to one who has flow opposed to one that talks like Elmer Fudd stuttering with his words EVERY other sentance. I realize with Happy"s mentality Doug probably speaks perfectly well to him, just not the rest of the population. I also see why Sioux fans didn't want to ruin all the fun in warning us of Happy.

You are one peace of "work" unlike anyone else.

By the way I actually like Doud Woog and was sad to seem him leave as coach when he did. He has GREAT hockey knowledge and was a good coach.


Its his Sp Sp Spe Speaking that bothers me!

Kurt Haider (the guy who does the UAA broadcast) is every bit as good as Woog in that respect. And he also mispronounces names from time to time (Who really cares anyway...some of these names are hard to pronounce). The only differences between Haider and Woog is Woog has more hockey knowledge (not that Haider doesn't know the game...he absolutely does) and Woogisms. And who doesn't love Woogisms? :D

I hope Doug stays in the booth for a long time to come. :)

I disagree.
Both Read and George could play on the top 2 lines on any team in the WCHA IMO. Both are fast and skilled with the puck. Read was the fastest skater in the series...kid has some serious wheels.

Birkholz is very fast yes indeed, but Read is just as fast , should check out our freshmen Jordan George. He can keep up with Birkholz no problem.

I will take skill as a team over skill players every day of the week. I also think if some miracle Read comes back next year when we play in the WCHA he will be a Hobey Candidate at the end of the season. Brad Hunt has the hardest slap shot of anyone on the ice tonight also.


I think we all learned to respect each others team a little more after this series. (Except for happy. Who I am sure even his parents gave up on decades ago)

Watching the way the Gophs quickly move the puck until they are left with an empty net takes me back to when I watched them religiously every weekend. Most fun style of hockey to watch by far.


I am anxious to watch the Beavers play at the Ralph in two weeks and also watch Miami OH vs the Sioux.

Now for some unfinished business.....

Who HATES Huntsville.....

WE HATE HUNTSVILLE!!!!
