Bemidji @ Minnesota - Rodents, Rodents, Everywhere

Re: Bemidji @ Minnesota - Rodents, Rodents, Everywhere

The Gophers fans are taking the loss to Bemidji better than Northern Michigan did...It wasn't long after the Wildcats lost to the Beavers, the "Fire Walt Kyle" threads starting popping up. :D

Oh don't worry, fire lucia has been screamed (a la howard dean) for the past two and a half years...

It's actually on page three behind the "Fire Dick Umile" and "Fire Scott Sandelin" threads. :p

Re: Bemidji @ Minnesota - Rodents, Rodents, Everywhere

I haven't seen the thread back on the first page yet at least...

Thread or not, believe me, the whining has been going on for that long. You forget, gopher fans slit their wrists when we don't win the NCAA tourney each year.

That's because Gopher fans know Bemidji is actually a good team despite being in the CHA. The Fire Walt contingent for Northern are full of morons. One of them thought the Lions would be 8-8 this year. :p

The Fire Walt Kyle movement has been around the last year or two also...

Oh yeah...Well aware of the stupidity of those people. One claimed I didn't remember anything from 10/27/91, Game 7 of the 91 Series(Not WCW's Halloween Havoc 1991, which also took place that night).

However, the Lions could still go 8-8. :p

Re: Bemidji @ Minnesota - Rodents, Rodents, Everywhere

Nice job Bemidji You took it to the Gophers Sunday and got a well deserved win. I think the Beavers will be a great addition to the WCHA next year something tells me they will be a pain in the a#$ very quickly. Good luck on the rest of the season and see ya next year

Well that turned out great.

And brian, the comment about Birkholz is correct so please leave your bias aside once in a while. :)

Re: Bemidji @ Minnesota - Rodents, Rodents, Everywhere

I can't believe this score.
I thought BSU didn't have any skill?

;) :)

Doesn't take much skill when the opponent hands you break-aways on a platter and their goalie freezes. :p

The Beavs have some skill players, just not the depth of them of a top WCHA team like DU or UND. They are really opportunistic and if you hand them turnovers they will feast on them. Difference between Saturday and Sunday is the Gophers played sound team hockey on Saturday and incredibly sloppy and selfish hockey on Sunday. I though the Gophers made an effort on Sunday (unlike say the first game at Grand Forks), but their effort was misdirected.

How many times did a Gopher forward flare out and set up just inside the Beaver blue line instead of getting the puck deep like they did on Saturday? I think Schroeder did it at least 10 times himself. They play like this against a solid team like BSU and they'll lose every time.

I expect the Beavers to make the dance again this season and do some damage again. Don't know if they can ride to the FF again, but it's certainly possible.

61ache is sandbagging, and being full of ****. Just pointing out that what he/she said was a load of bull.

I have the crow warmed up for you in a hotdish when ever you're ready.

My bias? It's not like Read is on UND's team.
I just watched these games to watch some college hockey.

And from watching them, it looked like Read was fast as hell. I only noticed Birkholz once all game, but noticed Read almost everytime he was on the ice, as he was always making plays due to his speed. If Birkholz has as good of wheels as Read, he certainly doesn't utilize them as well. :)

Pardon my 'bias'. ;) :D

Re: Bemidji @ Minnesota - Rodents, Rodents, Everywhere

Hardly strange that an 18 yo freshman on the 4th line isn't as noticeable as a 23 yo junior on the first. Not an age shot at all, those are pretty tired, just an acknowledgment of the difference in experience the two players have.

That's like saying Joe Mauer is faster than Carlos Gomez because he gets more playing time.

That sounds like Frank and Wooger from last night. They mentioned the age difference quite a few times once UMN was down by four goals. Funny, they didn't mention it the night before when UMN was winning. ;) :)

If Birkholz is as fast as is being said on here, he should be like Willie Mays Hayes and be noticeable <strike>even if he pops it up every at-bat</strike> every time he hits the ice.

I apologize Gopher fans. I didn't realize that my innocent comment about Read being the fastest player on the ice would cause such backlash. In the future, I will refrain from posting about fast Beavers after a Gopher loss.
I will amend my earlier comment:

Birkholz was EASILY the fastest player on the ice this past weekend. NO CONTEST. The guy has afterburners built into his skates. He could skate the length of the ice twice in the same time that Read could skate from the red line to the blue line. ;) :p :D
